If you like making paper objects, this paper knife might make a perfect addition to your collection. While it may not be the most useful knife, it is one of the safest you can own. Make certain to review the list of things you'll need before you start.

Steps

  1. Skip steps 2 and 3 if you have a square piece of paper.
  2. Obtain a regular piece of printer paper.
  3. Make your blade. Take the top right corner and fold it over to the left edge of the paper so that the top edge of the paper lines up with the left edge of the paper. The folded portion will form a triangle, with a rectangular piece remaining along the bottom. Make sure the edges line up and you crease very hard.
  4. Cut off the excess paper on the bottom with a pair of scissors.Unfold the triangle
  5. Fold the paper lengthwise until you reach the desired thickness for your blade. It should look like a paper stick.
  6. Cut a slanting edge that looks like the blade of a kitchen knife [only a little bit sharper]
  7. Use a stapler to keep the blade together. Staple it in the middle and on the blade.
  8. Make the handle. You want the handle to be about 2 centimeters longer than the slanted part of the blade. Measure and cut the excess paper from Step 3 to the appropriate length, then fold it to the width you prefer for your handle.
  9. Staple the blade and the handle together.
  10. You now have your paper knife!

Tips

  • The more you fold the paper, the stiffer it will be. A stiffer, more sturdy knife will last longer.
  • Using tape instead of staples will make your knife look cleaner, but probably not as strong.

Warnings

  • Don't poke this in somebody's face. You could poke them in the eye, where even a paper knife can cause permanent damage or blindness.
  • Do not attempt to use the paper knife in armed combat.
  • Be careful not to get a paper cut.
