Have you ever wanted to make those paper poppies that people like to sell? Well, here is the way you do it!

Steps

  1. Cut six circles from the colored crepe, about 7cm diameter. Pull gently on each circle so they are sort of dish shaped.
  2. Twist the tip of the garden wire and thread 20 black beads onto it. Twist the beads wire into a tight spiral shape.
  3. Using the zig-zag scissors, cut out a 4cm circle from the black felt.
  4. Stack the paper discs loosely on top of another with the felt circle on top. Poke the non- beaded end of the wire through the centre and pull it through.
  5. Cut 1cm strips of dark green paper and paste them with PVA glue. Stick the top of the strip to the back of the flower and wind it all the way down the wire/stem.
  6. Using the zig zag scissors, cut leaf shapes from the light green crepe paper and glue it to the stem.
  7. Finished.

Tips

  • Don't pull the paper too hard, it easily rips.
  • Before you put the leaf on and the paper for the stem on. twist it into a thin sausage shape for more texture and strength.

Warnings

  • Careful with the scissors.
