Nothing says "I love you" like a Giant Fake Foam Fried Egg. To make your own, you need follow only a few simple instructions and invest minimal time and money. It is possible to complete the process in a couple of hours and can be lots of fun.


Steps

  2. Apply a release agent to your bench top.

    Apply a release agent to your bench top. A liberal dose of Saran wrap works fine. Don't worry if it is wrinkled a bit. You might want to apply release agent to your hands as well (disposable rubber gloves).
  3. Cut a Dixie cup or a plastic beer cup down to about 1/3 or 1/2 height.

  4. Use another beer cup and mix together equal parts of the two-part expanding foam.

  5. Quickly pour the foam mixture into the sawed-off cup before the mixture starts expanding too much.

  6. Sit back and watch as your fried egg materializes before your eyes.

  7. Wait 10-20 minutes for it to harden and tear the release agent off the back of the egg, or just leave it on if you like the shaggy look.

  8. Use various colors of spray paint to complete the fried egg look.

Tips

  • A good yolk depends upon getting the height-to-volume ratio of the sawed-off cup just right. Also, if you place two cups about 10 inches apart and make two eggs at once, you can get the nice double fried egg feature often found at breakfast restaurants. It's not easy to get the over-easy look, but the secret may lie in judicious application of paint.
