Using paint, a template and a paint brush, your baby will be all decked out with their own personalized T-shirt. Have fun making this simple but colorful craft project.
Steps
-
Create a slogan using a computer and print it out.
- Glue the paper with the print out onto thick card.
-
Cut the stencil using a craft knife. Be sure to have a cutting mat underneath to protect the table's surface.
- Lay the T-shirt on a flat surface.
-
Insert a piece of card (cardboard) inside the shirt.
-
Measure the shirt using the measuring tape to find the center of the shirt.
- Mark the center width with a pencil. Leave a light pencil mark on the T-shirt surface.
-
Lay the stencil on top of the T-shirt using the pencil mark to center it.
-
Pin the stencil to hold it in place.
-
Dip the paint brush in paint and then dabble off excess paint on another surface such as a piece of paper or palette.
-
Paint the T-shirt using a stippling motion. Stippling means to move the brush up-and-down filling in the surface.
-
Use as many colors as desired, blend in the colors as you work, and finish painting when you are satisfied with effect.
-
Allow the paint to dry.
-
Remove the stencil carefully.
- Admire your work as the project is done.
Tips
- Select light colored paints and work from light to dark to prevent muddling the colors.
- This can work for any slogan or words. Put on your name, a slogan/saying you like. Anything!
- Make sure to use non-toxic paints if the shirt is to be worn by a child. (Messy food, curious mouths)
