If you wanted to redo your boring backpack, then here you go.

Steps

  1. Grab your backpack, and sketch any ideas you have. Make sure that your backpack represents you and you only.
  2. Use fabric markers and draw your design on it. It could be used from a stencil. Spray paints are good if you have stencils. Place it outside for about an hour or two to let dry.
  3. Decorate with duct tape. You can get duct tape in so many colours so self expression isn't hard. You could even cut shapes out of it and stick it on to suit you.
  4. Get some fabric stickers, or iron on patches to decorate with.
  5. Use those pin buttons. They can have funny sayings on them or have pictures of animals, whatever fits your fancy.
  6. Keychains work great for easy decorations. You can even make your own for added flair.
  7. Finished.

Tips

  • Of course, if you want, just buy a new backpack altogether.
  • When using spray paint wear gloves and goggles. Last thing you want is spray paint in your eyes.
  • If you're on a budget the dollar store usually has cheap iron on patches and fabric paints.

Warnings

  • Use your time carefully and you might want to sketch it out first.
  • Don't overdo it, it still has to be able to hold things.
  • If you use a backpack for school, make sure it follows any rules for school.(Ex. no chains, keychains with inappropriate sayings)
  • Be careful when altering it, like shredding some cloth to make it look cool. It might tear and become unusable altogether.
  • Make sure it suits you, because after everything dries there's no going back.
