Artichokes aren't just for eating. You can also use them to add an autumnal warm glow to any table setting, such as for harvest celebrations like Thanksgiving or at Halloween. This is an especially good way to make use of artichokes past their prime, those that have gone to seed in the garden.

Steps

  1. Assemble the items needed. These are listed below under "Things You'll Need".
  2. Pull out the seeds from the middle of the artichoke. All you should be left with is the hollow artichoke base with its dry calyxes.
  3. Place the small tile in the center of the artichoke.
  4. Place the tea candle on top of the tile.
  5. Light when ready to use. Never leave this unattended, in case it catches on fire. It is best used on the table, where people are always present. The resulting light should be a pleasant golden glow.

Tips

  • If you can, arrange a row of these along the table for a festive and glowing appeal.

Warnings

  • Never leave a candle unattended.
