Here's a fun way to make a custom lampshade.
Steps
Tissue Paper Method
-
Gather a lampshade and supplies.
- Using colored markers, draw designs on tissue paper.
- Using glue, attach the tissue paper randomly, to cover the entire shade.
Fabric Method
- Measure the lamshade and sew a cover to fit over it in some kind of pretty, cool fabric (it should be light-weight so that light will shine through)
- If you decide to use fabric, you may substitute a sewing machine for a glue gun.
-
Once you've sewed the cover, fit it over the old lampshade and sew across the top, securing it to the frame.
Tips
- Glue beads or sequins around the upper and lower rims of the shade.
- Don't overdo with the markers. The light shining through the colored tissue paper is pretty cool.
