Early Morning Sunshine by Denise Lada

I normally walk my dog Nero just before dawn every day as I am an early riser, too early some days. However, on Tuesday I overslept and the sky was already lightening when we set out. On our return I saw the sun shining on my neighbours tree. Fortunately I had my phone with me, I sometimes forget, and was able to take this vision of loveliness.

Halloween at The Castle by Janyce Cotterill

We visited Alnwick Castle, Northumberland last week. (Some of the Harry Potter movies have been filmed at the castle as well as episodes of the the drama, Downton Abbey) They were busy prepping it for Halloween - here are some of the ghoulies, ghosties and beasties that were around the place. Im sure on the night they will come alive and give someone a fright - as long as it is not me!!! Ill share with you a more tranquil Alnwick Castle and Garden at a later date! Im leaving you with my latest Christmas mini-kit and a Christmas door hanger. Thank you for your interest.

Bravery Award by Vicki Avcin

I am so proud of my daughter. Everyday she is at work I wonder what she will encounter. Some things she tells me about, others she touches on and doesnt want to talk about and yet other things you hear on the news, know shes on roster, and wonder if she was at that job. She is now a senior constable as this happened 3 years ago and she wouldve been only in the job for a couple of years and still a constable. I remember hearing about this incident on the news, but although she said she attended, she didnt tell me the details. Last Friday I learnt more about Boxing Day 2013. She sent me a message with a photo of a certificate, an operational bravery award. Although they are faced with many things and dont go to work to just get awards, it is great to see their work acknowledged when things get nasty. This was the report on the QPS site the next day……..Bravery award after boxing day stand-off, HendraOct 20, 2016 @ 3:51pmOn the morning of Thursday, December 26 2013, police from Hendra station responded to a call for service to a residence in Banyo where a male person had armed himself with a knife and a sawn-off shot gun, and taken a woman and her 13-year-old daughter hostage. At the time, Constables Morice, Mackay, Hess, Field and Woods attended the address and were fired upon at close range. All officers managed to retreat and establish a cordon around the address ensuring no harm came to the surrounding community. The hostages were later extracted from the address without injury to them or the police. These officers displayed amazing courage and professionalism on that day and their actions were recognised by the awarding of an Assistant Commissioners Certificate.

Please take a look at all my items. These are just a couple of Christmas Tag designs with a difference.

Halloween drama fun by Kelly Barker

My eldest daughter Jessica recently joined a drama and singing club, she has been having great fun learning songs from Annie and it has really helped with her confidence. Her drama teacher set up a special Halloween drama, dance and singing workshop for the half term and my youngest daughter Imogen was very excited to be able to go too. The girls had a really busy day swimming in the morning then a quick change and speedy face paint and then off to the 4 hour workshop. They had so much fun and did a little performance at the end. Here they are all dressed for Halloween fun. My 20% off sale is now on until the end of October and I have 12 backing paper kits still with whopping 25% off!

Halloween is here by Joanna Swinton

I think we should celebrate everything we can, as life can be hard and boring. Americans celebrate Halloween more than us but we are starting to catch up. The Grandchildren have been to a Halloween party at the nursery school that Kieran goes too. They did all kinds of activities there including pumpkin carving, colouring and lots of different games. This witch and zombie had great fun. I thought Id write a poem to celebrate Halloween. The air is thick its Halloween,Screeching witches flying high,Their faces smiling and all green;A mummy with a bloodshot eye.Everywhere we feel & see,Ghastly ghouls & big black cats,The shrieking sound of a Banshee,Flapping bats dance like acrobats. Our skin is cold we feel it creep,Our minds full of hostile fear,While deep inside our bodies weep,Its all cause Halloween is here.

Bird Spotting! by Sue Way

We always feed the birds in our garden, but as we live on quite a modern estate where most gardens are low maintenance, we dont get to see many interesting birds. We have a lots of bushes and shrubs in our garden to give them a bit of cover, so they like to feed here. We see sparrows, blackbirds, lots of pigeons & the odd starling. Oh & once a year a Sparrow Hawk pays us a visit, but we do not like that! I glanced out to the garden the other day & noticed a different kind bird on the bird bath. I whispered to hubby to come and look too. It had a drink & a little bath, then sat on the fence cleaning & preening itself, then ate some berries off of the Cotoneaster bush, before it flew off. I quickly put the description small grey bird with an orange tail into Google and it came straight up with this picture which was definitely it! A Grey (Gray) Catbird. We did a bit of research and found that it is a North American species and is class as mega rare in the UK. I have been keeping a look out for it all week to try to get my own picture, even though we are in no doubt that it was a Grey Catbird, but I havent seen it again. We feel very privileged to have spotted it and just hope it survives the UK winter and has a mate here too.My 4 day SALE starts today! 20% off of ALL my designs!!!! Today I am showcases 2 of my my latest Vintage Christmas mini kits. Thank you to everyone who follows me. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Pumpkins! by Anne Lever

My village has a fruit and veg stall at its centre every saturday, and this week they had a very impressive display of locally grown pumpkins. I dont normally go overboard at halloween, but I absolutely adored quite a few of these punmpkins and just had to have them. They now adorn my front room, and I have to seriously consider whether to let the kids loose on carving them on halloween! The big one at the back is very bumpy, dark green with a patch of orange, the one on the left is a beautiful duck egg blue, you cant see the colours very well in the pic. The larger of the small ones at the front is yellow with orange patches and my son said it looked like melted cheese. The one on the right is called a turban pumpkin, for obvious reasons! I can see us eating pumpkin pie for many weeks to come.....
