Millies 1st Seaside Holiday by Janet Roberts

We took Millie to the Yorkshire Coast for a weeks holiday at the end of last April. The weather was bitter cold and we even had some snow at times. Despite the weather Millie now aged 8 months had a fantastic time on the beaches. She chased pebbles, seagulls and gave any seaweed she came across a good shaking! I was wary to let her off lead at first but hubby managed to pursuade me and Millie was as good as gold. She stayed with us all the time but she loved the freedom to run about. We bought a ball launcher and she would shoot off after it like a bullet from a gun. I wish I had so much energy!

Mothers Day Classic by Vicki Avcin

Well normally on Mothers Day most Mums look forward to a nice breakfast served to them by hubby and the kids. Sunday 8th May here in Australia was our Mothers Day. I dont live close to our kids and am always up before hubby, so no breakfast in bed, but I do look forward to an early morning text message from the kids and grandkids and then usually a phone call later in the day. I had my daughter here Friday night and had her present and she also brought up something from my son, neither of which I was told not to open before Sunday. Well I didnt get a text from the son, but go on Facebook and found out why. There is an 8km Fun Run held in Brisbane (and around Australia) beginning at 7.30am each Mothers Day called The Mothers Day Classic. It is put on here at Southbank parklands, by Women in Super (WIS) which is a national advocacy and networking group for women employed in the superannuation and financial services industries, to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research. Im so proud of my son and daughter-in-law and their 2 kids/my grandkids. They selfishly gave up a nice sleep in and breakfast to go and do this Fun Run. Of course Fun Runs are meant to be that…….. fun so dressing up is order of the day. I might dispute that any running at my age is fun but for the younger ones, well done to them!! They all completed the 8klm run (and/or walk), and as the colour for Breast Cancer is pink, they made sure they obliged as the picture shows. They all had a great time, so well done to them all. I think my son wears a tutu rather well too….. dont you? Goes so well with the black boardies underneath!!

Caravan! by Sue Way

We have loved caravanning on and off over the years. Starting with our first big old tourer when the children were young. Then we got another one when they were older so we could escape on our own. This lead us to buy our first static van, which we loved and kept for a few years until we moved to the place where we kept it, so didnt need it anymore. After living by the sea for a few years, we got the caravanning bug again, but after a couple of years decided the van was too old and heavy for us, so sold it to our nephew. Two years later we were missing it again, so last weekend we went for a browse at a dealer. While we were looking a couple asked us if we were looking for a 2 berth as they had one to sell. The next day we went to see it, we fell in love and.… well its now ours! Its the newest van we have own and its lovely! We have spent the week kitting it out and as soon as we have a tow bar fitted to the car we are off! http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

High Roller at The LINQ, Las Vegas

by Sandie Burchell

I recently sold my house in Southern California and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, which is one of my favourite cities. We are presently living in temporary accommodation just a block behind the Las Vegas Strip. We are on the fourth floor and our back balcony overlooks the Strip and the High Roller at the LINQ which is a 550 foot tall observation wheel similar to the London Eye. I havent been on it yet but I was on the Strip last night and took a photograph of it. It takes 30 mins to complete one full revolution and features 28 glass-enclosed cabins with broad views of the city. Each spherical cabin can hold up to 40 people. I will be going on it soon so I will report again what it was like!

Cob Nut Trees at Lakenheath by Tina Fitch

I didnt realise where we stood on a regular basis to watch the F15 jets at Lakenheath was surrounded by Cob nuts trees... Last year when there I always looked and wondered what the trees were but never took the time to look it up... I now know they are all cob nut trees.. But the nuts wont be there long I very much doubt! The Squirrels will soon have them once they are ripe. I think thats why I never saw them last year due to becoming ripe then getting taken for food.... So I never got to see the nuts growing anyway ...I have loads of New designs now in my store especially for Fathers Day! and take a look in my Special discount department too...

Day at London Zoo by Joan King

My daughter and 2 grand daughters live in Colchester but had a day out for a trip to London Zoo. They went in by the canal boat entrance and I was told it was beautiful. I am sure this wasnt available when I last went some 55 years ago!! Of course this happened on the 2/3 days of summer you have just recently had. The photograph is of my 10 year old grand daughter being watched over by one of the natives.... They had a fabulous day but only managed to get around half of the zoo so will leave the other half to another day. Sadly the day was marred by the trains at Liverpool Street Station not functioning and my daughter ended up with two very tired and fractious children arriving home around 12.30am. A day to remember for good and bad.

Blessing of the water parade

by Kelly Barker

I live in a little seaside town and so there are lots of events throughout the year to do with the water. On Sunday it was the blessing of the water and reclaiming of the sea. Although I have lived here for 10 years and they do it every year I had never heard of it, but as I now have kids, you tend to hear about events more. Jessica is now at Brownies and Imogen goes to rainbows, so they were both invited to do a small parade and then stand on the jetty while the event took place. They did a good job in their parade and we treated them to ice cream after as it was such a lovely day.

Down by the Water by Janyce Cotterill

We were up the Northumberland coast earlier this week, where the river meets the sea. With wide open beaches, the sun glinting off the waves, sea birds bobbing on the water, deck chairs, dogs running, children building sand castles and with ice-cream in hand it was a perfect day! One or two brave souls took to the waters - but not too many despite the need for the sunscreen and sunglasses, the water was just a little too cold to frolic in!So I took some photos of the boats which were waiting patiently for the tide to come in and flood the river bank - a perfect fitting for two of my latest designs.I hope you like them and thank you for your interest.

Cross Stitch by Anne Lever

I have finished the page I was stitching on my lovely lady, and I am now back to stitching this beauty. Its called the magic grotto by Aimee Stewart. I am on the last partial page of the top row. In a couple of weeks, I will have completed a whole row of this huge chart. The fabric is 25 count, that is 25 stitches per inch. I absolutely love this picture, and the chart. There are so many gorgeous colours in it.
