My Jewellery Making Story by Deborah Davies

I started making jewellery a few years after I started cardmaking/designing. I took it more serious 3 years ago after retiring from the rat race early. I would make for friends and family and do the occasional craft fair. I have always been a fan of Jewellerymakertv and buy all my gemstones from them. More recently I became part of their Makers Squad which is basically making jewellery for their up and coming jewellery kits to be shown on their TV shows. This has increased my confidence tenfold.

Little Treasures by Janice McFarlane

Lately I have been buying some jewellery job lots, not expensive one just mixed bags of complete or broken jewellery, for repair, up-cycle or clean and resell. This became of interest for a few reasons, one was I follow a couple of YouTubers. Who collects, repairs and up-cycles jewellery, secondly I thought this would be a fun way to put new life into whatever I got. Thirdly I love jewellery especially unusual pieces and fourth I like to collect brooches and pins. I wasnt disappointed, in my latest pitches there were a few pins I found of interest and did some research. The first one was a little enamel Humpty Dumpty on a motorcycle from 1993, a Royal British Legion Pin from 1971, a Cunard(of Titanic fame) membership pin from the 50s, a London County Council badge from the 90s, a Silver Jubilee badge from 1977, and two Variety Club of Great Britain badges from the 90s. It may not seem like treasures to some but to me they are and Ive loved finding out about them.

We … by Carol Clarke

… have had some glorious summer days here in Nottinghamshire this week, with lots of sunshine and high temperatures. It certainly was lovely in the garden, although probably best to stay sitting outside in the shade! lol we have fields at the bottom of our garden with views all the way to Derbyshire so we see lots if wildlife and get lots of birds, butterflies and dragonflies too!

Another bag! by Sue Way

How many bags does one girl need? Too many!!! I made another bag last week and have already started working on my next one. I am on a roll now. I made this one, called The Crafted Crossbody, with water-resistant canvas and a cotton fat quarter for the lining. I found that my domestic sewing machine liked this kind of fabric more than vinyl, which can get quite bulky in the seams. I have been dreaming of a more robust sewing machine, but they are a bit out of my price range, unfortunately. So I will just have to stock up on more pretty water-resistant canvas. lol
