Love to go for a nice long walk when I can and I often walk ten plus miles! Last Saturday I set out nice and early and was only about 1.5 miles into my walk when there was a tap on my shoulder… and my youngest son ran past me! We live a number of miles away from each other and the reservoir we were walking/running by was the only short stretch of our routes that we were taking where our routes came together! What a coincidence! I carried on and had a great walk seeing the lovely wild flower meadows!

Pilot Officer George by Janice McFarlane

My son-in-law Paul who is in the R.A.F. is currently on deployment in Cyprus. He has been out there since March and his service is ending in a couple of weeks. Before he went, the pastoral care teacher at the primary school R.A.F. Benson asked if he would mind taking George the Squirrel with him. The school has an excellent support system for children whose parents are temporarily deployed overseas for a short time, as it can affect them. George the Squirrel is a great mascot and has travelled all over the world, with various individuals, they are asked to take photos and send them back to the school with a little note so the children can follow George and also reassuringly know their loved ones are ok. The other day George was given the rank of Pilot Officer and given a ride in a Typhoon Jet, Paul isnt a pilot but some of his colleagues are, and he asked one if he would have a photo taken with George. But, they went the extra mile and took him into the Typhoon, which was fantastic for the children to see. George is also going to be presented with a mini medal at the end of his tour.

Perfect Friends! by Tina Fitch

Well another visit to the zoo in Blackpool and yes the raccoons remember Elsea.You wouldnt believe how they just come to you and let you touch them, as you can see they have no fear at all. And as for Elsea she has no fear either , Im not sure Id be the same had I have been there. They have a yearly pass so can visit anytime and as they live so close and its very intuitive for my granddaughter. She likes to interact all the time so Im pleased shes got no fear of anything right now.

Birthday by Vicki Avcin

It was my birthday on 1st June and I had a wonderful day. My son and his family took me out to lunch (forgot to get photos!) Loved the presents from them. Earlier this year they were over in the US and they thought ahead while over there and got me things they knew Id love. A licenced shirt from the New York Fire Department which I definitely do love and a tin of toffee which is a limited edition from Forest Gump franchise. After lunch met up with my daughter and as a surprise she took me for a pedicure…..first one Ive ever had in 71 years! Lovely and relaxing and was perfect because trying to look after my feet these days is an effort. I dont bend like I used to!!. We then went and had coffee and red velvet cupcakes to finish the day.

Happy 16th Birthday Jessica! by Sue Way

Last week it was our first oldest granddaughters 16th Birthday! How the time has flown. She is a lovely girl, very clever, caring, and sweet. She had a fun-packed weekend planned, starting with a meal out with us on her actual Birthday. Then a karaoke party with her friends the next day. Followed by a dinner with her other grandparents the day after. Then the next day, she took her final exam before leaving school for the last time. She still has her prom to look forward to, then a lovely summer break before she starts college, which she is very excited about. Here she is in the sunglasses we bought her as one of her presents. Happy 16th Birthday Jessica!
