Gardening My Other Passion

by Patricia Platt

I not only enjoy designing and knitting, but I love my garden. It is my place of solitude and helped me get through last year. It is a place I can go to and escape for a bit without even leaving home. I have a little robin who lives in it and sings to me just about every day. I do give him food and he thanks me with is song. It is now coming to the time of year to start vegetable plants for the garden. These are my first lot of seedlings.... Some tomato plants and some herbs and coleus plants. The tomatoes are Purple cherry types. I grew last year and they have such wonderful flavour. The variety is Indigo Blue. I thought I would decorate the garden with the coleus plants, but I didnt realize so many seedlings would sprout!! I ran out of energy repotting them, so will have to save the rest for another day.

These are two of my Notelet kits, they are garden themed. I have some other kits available too with different themes. Thanks all that have bought them so far and for having a look at them. xx

Another Book Pillow by Sue Way

Last week I made my second book pillow for Imogen. She chose the fabric from my fat quarters stash, and I think she made a lovely choice. Jessica is already using hers, although she ended up carrying her drink, hot water bottle, and a soft toy in hers to go up to bed. Maybe I should make her a bag instead lol I am now making fabric corner bookmarks to match their pillows.

Not winter yet by Amanda Assenbruck

Here on the Southern Downs in Queensland we are currently still having reasonable warm weather as this Hibiscus shows. We can expect the weather to turn any day now with cold weather and frosts, generally from anytime around Anzac Day 25 April. We are prepared, before our holiday we ordered a new wood heater and arranged for it to be installed after Easter. It has only needed to be run to burn off any nasty smells so far.

In Australia we have Mothers Day in May. The Pink Roses card is a new design.

Easter .... by Carol Clarke

.... Hmmmm .... I`m not too sure what this creature is! ... But it has some Easter Eggs ... soooo ... it must be an Easter something or other!! lol It must have taken ages to crochet ... and it certainly made me smile. Its sat on the top of our local Olympic Gold Medalist Ollie Hynds gold postbox and funnily enough I was going to the Leisure Centre, just a short walk away, for a lunchtime swim! Ollie was one of the celebrities who opened the Leisure Centre earlier this year. Another coincidence was that weekend we had loads of snow and another of the celebrities was Eddie the Eagle ... but minus his skis! lol

Sheepish Royalty by Janice McFarlane

This Sunday is my first craft fair of the year. I only do around 3 per year, because it takes time to make make the things I do and because I am a Designer on CUP that takes priority. So I work evenings and weekends doing all my other makes, I wish there was more than 24hrs a day. The week leading up to a fair is always somewhat chaotic, finishing off trying to cram in a few other little bits as well as pricing which Im rubbish at. But its always the same venue and I have the same spot where I set up. So heres hoping for a lovely sunny day. I ve made a few of these sheep and a couple with a Royal Twist as the coronation wont be too far away.

Happiness by Vicki Avcin

We miss our kangaroo mob that used to visit us morning and night in Hervey Bay. So imagine our joy at opening the curtains the other morning down here and seeing a mumma kanga sitting in the middle of our back yard. We have suspected there was kangas down in the environmental park at the back of us as weve seen roo skat (poo) when walking round down the bottom part of the yard but so far have only seen one small bush wallaby right down on the edge of the park. This little mumma that came to visit appears to have a joey (baby) in her pouch so it equates that there has to be at least another kanga out there somewhere. With all the development on the other side of the park, we are hoping that we may see more eventually. But it just gave us so much excitement and happiness to see this little girl.
