My daughter (CUP designer Kelly Barker) has taken up needle felting. She bought herself a kit of Christmas Gnomes to give it a try and loved it so much that she is now hooked! We bought her a lovely kit for Christmas of cute Shiba Dogs. But what was a lovely surprise what that she gave us a little Christmas Gnome that she had made as a little gift. I love it and it will now take pride of place on my Christmas tree every year! Our granddaughter Jessica is also getting into it. I cant wait to see their next creations! Here are a couple of my new Cute Kitten designs. I hope you like them as I have more coming soon.

Happy New Year by Janice McFarlane

Well we are nearly a week into 2023, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. This year we had my daughter and family come to visit us for the day on New Years Eve, then they were going to spend the rest of the evening and New Years Day with our other daughter and family. We had a lovely day, Alfie had the Star Wars version of scrabble which we spent some time playing, with some very dodgy words being placed on the board but we did have a good laugh. Then Harry our youngest grandson wanted to play Tractor Top Trumps. Alfie brought with him a boxing head set which comprises of a headband with a long elastic attached at the front with a small punch ball dangling from it. The idea is to improve your rhythm for punching. Alfie was quite good as was my daughter, me on the other hand was terrible. The up side it did give you a good upper body work out, so there and then my son in law ordered me one as I said I needed to get a bit of exercise, because having severe arthritis I do have mobility issues. It was great fun and a lovely time spent with family we dont see often as they live in Oxfordshire.

Though we seem to be having a fairly mild summer we have encountered a few very hot days of late. Yesterday I looked outside and saw one of our resident hares stretched out as much as possible to (i think) catch as much of the breeze that had just turned up. I dont blame him! We hadnt had the cool breeze or the rain that town had only a few kms away.

... Budding Craftsuprint Designer in the Making!! My youngest granddaughter, Olivia aged 10, just loves to craft!! Crochet and knitting, acrylic painting and diamond painting, cardmaking and papercrafting ... if its anything to do with crafts then she wants to try it! Take her to Hobbycraft and she thinks shes in heaven! lol She sooo loves to come to my house and route through my craft room! Weve had many a lovely day playing with all my crafty toys! lol I always make her, and my other grandchildren, a hand painted Christmas card each year .... and this year Olivia surprised me when she gave me this lovely card!! As you can imagine I was over the moon to receive such a fabby card from her! Give her a few years and shell be applying to be a Craftsuprint Designer ... Just like her Nana!! Well here she is. The expectant Mother. Laying in the snow scattered mound just over my back garden fence..She is waiting for her Turkey and trimmings left overs!I just cant wait for her to give birth. I just hope she brings the kits back to see me. She had some last year but I never saw them so not sure they survived.. but heres hoping for some luck this year. Happy New year to all

Wednesday this week we had a temperature of 38.6 deg C….. it was a stinker of a day so the promise of storms sounded good. So at 2.38pm the first warning came through saying: Damaging, locally destructive winds, large, possibly giant hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely. So all storm prep done, we watched in the distance and on radar a storm build as it approached us. Now we have had storm warnings before from both BOM and EWN (Early Warning Network) saying large hail and in the 17 months weve been here not once have we had hail. So it was sort of exciting when we heard the smacks on the roof and all these little white pea sized bits of ice hitting the ground. Our place is the heart in the middle of the purple area.Hail isnt uncommon down here but in the 20 years since we left here I think weve only had hail maybe 3 or 4 times, something weve missed over the years in the summer storms. Fortunately there was no large/giant hail this time as forecasted and just small stuff, but weird as it sounds it was exciting!! And yes, our grass is really that brown despite the floods we had early in the year.
