The Queen of Corgis by Janice McFarlane

Well what a week this has been. It seems somewhat surreal one day we had Her Majesty greeting the new Prime-minister to no longer being with us two days later and now having a King. I remember fondly at the age of 14 waiting patiently with many others, to greet the Queen and Prince Philip in my then home town of Hartlepool. She was touring the country as part of her silver jubilee. We waited for just as glimpse as they drove by. Ive loved listening to the wonderful stories where people have recalled this week meeting her or seeing her and how down to earth she was. Indeed I was very busy earlier on in this year crocheting souvenirs for her Platinum Jubilee. Of course we cant forget her love of the corgi breed. As a family and in my teens we also had a corgi so I can understand her affection for them. So as we mourn the loss of this countrys greatest monarch in my opinion, she was also Queen of Corgis.

Summer Holiday! by Sue Way

Our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters had a fun week away at Butlins Bognor Regis during the summer holidays. They saw lots of shows, ate too much and spent too much lol One of their favourite afternoons was spent relaxing in a park behind the resort as it was all a bit full on! Kelly took this fab picture of Jessica looking so cool in the club.

... Youngest son has been running for Mansfield Harriers since he was 11. He did have a gap of a few years when his children were little though. This week he was running in an inter club competition but as it was held locally I went along with his children to watch. We had a lovely day and my youngest grandchildren got to have ice creams (of course! lol) and we were all there to cheer him on. He won 1 race and came 3rd in another one, and we all had a lovely day out too! Below are two of my Halloween Kits ... There are lots more to choose from too! lol

Here we have the F-35 Lightning, I got quite close with this one , You can even see the pilot through the front screen.Looks quite menacing just sitting there on the grass ready to pouch! I caught this last week on my visit, they were really busy there and hot pitting.. which meant they came in and filled up with gas and flew out again on sorties.To be honest they didnt stop. But thats how I like it.The only downside is getting up at 4am so I am there early to park.But if you need that shot you have to take the good with the bad! Wonder what my visit this week will bring? Tunnel by Vicki Avcin

The price of progress since we left Brisbane 20 years ago ….well it has definitely progressed. Having driven all over Brisbane for many many years, we knew the roads inside out. Well yesterday we had to go to the Northside of Brisbane and instead of knowing which roads to drive and which bridges to use, what a shock when all of a sudden after having driven up the Gateway motorway and over the Gateway bridge, on returning home, I brought up Google maps and set the route to head back home. Only used it as so many roads have changed as theyve added motorways and changed roads, so needed to have it to guide us back to the Gateway. Well all was good we thought till we were headed into this tunnel. Didnt think anything of it as we knew there was a couple of tunnels added to alleviate some of the old bottlenecks. We kept going down, down and thinking wed come out soon. Wrong. All of a sudden a sign comes up to Wynnum. Ummm Wynnum is on the other side of the river but we hadnt gone over the Gateway Bridge. It suddenly dawned on us that wed traveled through the Clem Jones Tunnel which goes under the Brisbane River, so instead of going across the river via the Gateway Bridge wed actually gone under the river. None of this was there when we left Brisbane and although wed heard about its construction over the years, didnt really comprehend the enormity of it all and where it actually went. It does make the drive a little less stressful by not having traffic lights and heavy traffic but it is more expensive. Guess one has to way up whether they want free or ease.
