Flower Power by Janice McFarlane

As my husband and I have lived in a retirement bungalow for the last 6 years it has been a delight to not have to worry about the upkeep of a garden as we both have health issues, even though we loved having our own garden once upon a time. We now have a communal area at the back which consists of a large long lawn and some planted borders. A groundsman and tends to the lawn and hedges, whilst one of our fitter neighbours who loves gardening and pottering around has planted up some borders. Whilst outside the other day, I noticed this one solitary yellow flower. At first I thought it was a dandelion but on closer inspection it wasnt. No doubt it will be regarded as a weed, but I found it quite striking as it was the only bloom standing proudly on its own within the large lawn. Im sure a philosopher would come up with some academic metaphor, but to me it was just sheer flower power.

More Babies by Vicki Avcin

Well our baby plovers are growing fast. Instead of little fluff balls they now have their feathers and look like miniature versions of the adults. Trying to get all four in one picture is now almost impossible as they all scoot off in different directions, but still under the watchful eyes of mum and dad. Then two days ago a pair of the ducks that frequent the yard were picking at the grass as they do, when we noticed something else moving………it was three little ducklings. Still little fluff balls so they were relatively newly hatched. They spent a few hours in the back yard and then the parents went off down the back to the creek. I also feed two adult magpies and a juvenile baby from last years hatch but the mum and dad grab some food and take off into the big gum tree in a neighbours yard so we got the binoculars out and sure enough there is a nest with babies. Not sure how many but Im sure in time the parents will bring them down to meet us and let them know that this lady gives free food. We suspect that the pair of curlews that hang around also have babies somewhere. As they are ground dwellers we will have to wait till they come out of the long grass before we see them. So lots and lots of babies here at the moment…… its definitely spring time.

This weeks designs are regal purple tones in honour of the sad news this morning that Her Majesty The Queen has passed.

I ... by Carol Clarke

.... had a rather scary time with my car this week! I was at a junction at the top of a steep hill waiting to turn onto a busy road when my clutch got stuck in gear!! At first I couldnt understand what was happening and kept jiggling it to see if I could release it. Slowly it dawned on me that something was badly wrong and I was stuck there! To make matters worse it was raining (of course it would be!) and I was almost blocking the junction of the one way road!! Soooo picture me trying to ring my breakdown service whilst jumping in and out of my car to let those cars coming up behind me know that if they wanted to pass me they had to mount the kerb and go almost into the hedge to get to the junction!! Aghhhhh .... it was such a nightmare!! Luckily it wasnt too long before the low loader arrived and my car & I were on our way to the garage. It was my clutch plus slave and master that was the problem and it cost me an arm and a leg to get it fixed!! Luckily Ive got it back now. Sooo this week as my car was still in the garage our youngest grandchildren had to be delivered to us and we went to a park within walking distance. Thankfully we all had a lovely time though!! Below are 2 of my Sleeps Till Santa Countdown Card Kits .... theres lots more to choose from too! lol

Our Duck family by Amanda Assenbruck

I have been keeping a keen eye on our duck family, watching the fourteen babies as they grow. This week they are almost the same size as their parents but you can see the difference in the adults colouring. The babies have been stretching their wings and fluttering getting them strong in order to fly i guess. Dont be alarmed by the fencing in the photo they are not penned in but on the driveway between a fence and a garden. In other news we have had another inch of rain overnight making 3 inches in the week so everything is rather wet. The wisteria is full of buds and probably next weeks news will show some lovely flowers. Two cards from my latest collections, there are many variants so take a look.

Devil and Angel by Sue Way

Last weekend we went to visit our son, daughter-in-law and youngest granddaughter Daisy. Daisy is mad about dinosaurs at the moment so we surprised her with a dinosaur costume, which she looked so cute in. We also gave her a dinosaur jigsaw puzzle, which I helped her complete. We went for a pub meal, where my hubby played a trick on me by posing under these pictures. I didnt realise that he was the Angel and I was the devil until after lol
