Just Cruising Along by Janice McFarlane

Last weekend was RIAT 2022 (Royal international Air Tattoo). It was held at the US Airbase at Fairford. This sees aircraft and fantastic displays of skilled flying from around the world and attracts thousands of visitors. It was an event both my husband and myself would have loved to attended, but sadly it was not to be: but all was not lost, both my 10 year old Grandson Alfie and my son in law Paul who is in the RAF were in attendance although not together. Alfie was there with his Cub Scouts group, who were found various activities and he was able to get some great shots and video of what was going on, which he sent to us. His dad on the other hand was actually working on duty as a VIP driver. On the Saturday they had a very special VIP visitor, who is no stranger to flying and doing his own aerial stunts at RAF bases for his Mission Impossible movies - non other than Mr Tom Cruise. So a quick snapshot was taken and sent to me, as the duty personnel wouldnt have been allowed selfies etc., although Im sure Mr Cruise would have obliged.

End of an era! by Sue Way

Today was our granddaughter Imogens last day at primary school. She had a very busy last week, singing in 4 shows over the two hottest days ever. But she leaves after working very hard and reaching excellent marks in her stats. Now she has six weeks to rest and enjoy the holidays before heading to senior school in September. Look how much she has grown since her first day in reception to now. Notice where the door handle is?!!!

We ... by Carol Clarke

... had the company of our youngest grandchildren on Sunday and took the opportunity to take them to a local park. Of course with England enjoying a rather hot heat wave at the moment it was rather warm! lol Despite this we got to have a good time at the park in the morning before the temperature rose too high. We then brought them back to our house for a picnic in the sahe of our apple tree and ... of course ... we had to have ice creams all round to cool us down a little too! lolBelow are 2 of my popular On the Shelf designs ... enjoying ice creams! lol

Meanwhile........... by Vicki Avcin

Here in Australia we are still rugged up to the hilt trying to keep warm, my thoughts are with the people in the UK and Europe that are dealing with the record breaking heat. I can only imagine what you are going through with not being used to such high temperatures and the fires that have raged over there. Being what we deal with in our fire seasons and knowing the planning and resources that go into these huge fires, loss of homes and being prepared for something that to us is the norm, we feel helpless as we see places on the news here. But for us we are continuing to deal with the rain and cold with yet another out of season weather event with an East Coast low bearing down on us bringing huge swells and erosion on the coast and more rain and big winds. Last thing we need at the moment is more rain as the ground is still waterlogged from all the previous rain weve seemed to have continually this year. Even the cat is feeling the cold and looking for warm places to sleep. Hubby put a hoodie jumper on the bed the other day and Meow decided that crawling inside was the perfect place to spend the day!

Oh Possum! by Amanda Assenbruck

While we do love our wildlife here sometimes they can be quite a nuisance. We plant our winter veggies every year and have usually been successful at keeping the wildlife at bay long enough for us to harvest. The first planting this season alas only 1 plant survived so a second lot were sown. I had been doing quite well at making sure the netting was secured to keep the possums out but alas it was not meant to be, which is quite a pity with our winter veggies here quite expensive due to the recent flooding wiping out local crops and freight from interstate making them quite expensive. We will have to come up with a better plan next year.
