TROPICAL STORMS BEGINNING by Janice Shehan

Well its that time of year again, hurricane season and tropical storms are here. The season has been unusually hot and pollen is awful. But, on the bright side, we need the rain and sunshine to keep the lovely flowers and palm trees growing and blooming. Here are some of the lovely flowers we grow all year long.

Halloween is right around the corner with of its vivid colors and whimsy.

Pretty! by Vicki Avcin

Sunrises and sunsets are still giving us some fantastic displays in the mornings and evenings. It is all generated from the Tonga volcano dust being in the air which they say will hang around for the next year or so. On January 15 this year, undersea volcano Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haapai erupted in a massive explosion thought to be one of the worlds largest in recent decades. The big and energetic eruption had pumped particles such as ash, sulphates and water vapour into the stratosphere. Because of this it is giving us these wonderful displays twice a day although lately because of the weather there hasnt been opportunity for weeks and days at a time due to the rain. Every day is different with pinks, purples, mauves, oranges, yellows displayed on the clouds if there is any, or just the colour hues if the sky is totally clear. What I like about it is often as much as there is brilliant colour to the west but its also on any cloud to the east, and vice versa both morning and night. Mother Nature must be trying to make us forgive her with these wonderful shows as shes given us so much rain this year.

This week my designs are a bundle of Christmas inserts and a pretty Christmas card in pink instead of traditional green and red.

Very high! by Tina Fitch

A Seattle Icon Since its grand opening on April 21, 1962, the landmark continues to symbolize the innovative and forward-thinking spirit of Seattle. Located at Seattle Center, the Space Needle stands at 605 feet tall and is one of the most photographed structures in the worldThis is what visited last week whilst also celebrating my youngest daughters wedding!OMG was it high and when I got out of the lift that took us to the top I use couldnt move! I hate heights , I mustve sat on the bench for a good 30 mins before I could move. But when I did what a view. You could see all of Seattle and beyond. It even had a glass floor you could walk on. I didnt walk on that I have to add but glad I got to the top

Mushrooms by Judith Henry

On my morning walk Ive been watching two different mushroom patches. I discovered these mushrooms which Ive been watching had grown a lot. This picture at first looked like garbage, perhaps cottage cheese. Its an unusual shape. Perhaps you can identify it? To me it looked like popcorn. Have you seen anything like it?

A ... by Carol Clarke

... few weeks ago I started looking for the beautiful Bee Orchid plant in and around the areas where Id seen them before. Luckily I soon found a number of them in the rough grasses in a local business park. Unfortunately it wasnt a very nice day to take photos so I decided to go back and take photos at a later time. Imagine my annoyance when I returned last week only to find that they had mowed the area and totally destroyed these delicate plants! Luckily, this week, I spotted this one lonesome Bee Orchid a few miles away in another local area, I just hope whoever tidies up this grassy verge doesnt destroy this one too! Below are 2 of my Christmas Santa Claus Kits .... theres lots more to choose from too! lol

Purple Octopus by Janice McFarlane

My 5 year old grandson has been learning about Pirates at school. So for the first time his class were going to perform a little showcase during school assembly. Harrys character was to be a wriggling octopus which he was most excited about. He had two lines to learn and shouted them out confidently. His tentacles were made from purple paper chains which they did in class. So the glass told the story and sang a song about pirates and Harry seemed to love every minute of it.

Happy 1st Birthday Sam! by Sue Way

Can you believe our little puppy Sam turned one last week? He had a fantastic day, starting with a lovely walk in the country park. Then it was present time! He loves big teddies so we gave him a HUGE heavy bear, that he absolutely loves! He drags it around by its ear and then goes to sleep on top of it. After lunch the family came to visit so he got even more presents! After a very busy day he fell asleep in a nest of soft toys. Happy Birthday baby boy.

Thanks Nanna by Amanda Assenbruck

My granddaughter gave me these lovely Gerberas for minding her sister last weekend while Mummy and here went to the movies. They certainly are very pretty! Sunny Queensland hasnt been living up to its name this week. Winter has really set in now and some places have even broken their records for the coldest winter day. We have had more rain but thankfully not as much as Sydney and southern NSW who have flooded again! It is still cold today but at least we have sunshine again.
