By Dawns Early Light by Janice McFarlane

Most nights Im awake in the early hours either I cant sleep or my cat Bailey wakes me up because he wants some treats. Believe you me he wont be ignored he just keeps on pestering until I get up. Tuesday morning was no exception, it was 4.30 am and dawn had broken. I just happened to look out the window and saw this beautiful multicoloured sky. I had to grab my phone and take a picture. I love the artwork of the sky when I look up and I always say my late son Christopher who was a fantastic artist has his Heavenly paintbrushes out. It gives me a sense of peace. So for once, Im glad Bailey got me up when he did or I would have missed this beautiful ombré of colour.

Kokedama Strawberries by Clare Walker

The hanging basket in this picture was in an outdoor space we visited again recently (yes, I`ve mentioned Camley Street before). I couldn`t take my eyes off the basket though. Because the more you look at it, the more you realise...The plants are hanging there, but there *is* no basket.I was so fascinated that I asked someone working there how these strawberry plants could actually grow. It seems that the answer is Kokedama gardening, a Japanese technique whereby the plants grow in balls of moss (as they might in the wild) and the moss is held together and hung up with string. (Just to give credit where it`s due, the plants were put on display, apparently, by people with the wonderful name of Borrowed Light.) Am not sure I could pull any of this off myself, but pass along the idea and its wonderful, natural look, in case you do have green enough fingers to do so.

Luckily, theres no need to be a gardener to enjoy 20% off strawberry card sheets, and lots of my other summer goodies this week.

Winter Wattles by Amanda Assenbruck

Winter has arrived here in Australia. One of my news stories was about the tomatoes still thriving in June (which is late for us). The cold and frosts have arrived since then (and only a few days after that story) so there is not much colour left out in my garden. We do have a few trees here which are keeping some colour near the house and our spikey Yuccas stay green all year but it is the Wattles which are keeping it a little bright here as the last of their flowers are displayed. It is raining again today and it seems Queensland is up for another rain event. Hopefully this time there will be no major flooding. Weve had 2-3 weeks now without rain so at least the ground has dried a little, however the water tables are still full so we will see.

I ... by Carol Clarke

... Love to walk and as Im lucky enough to live in the British countryside with lots of fields, woods and paths I can walk a different route every day! This lovely photo was taken on a walk along Kennel and Weavers lanes. These lanes together with an un-named bottom path form a lovely triangle that takes you miles from any roads and so is loved by cyclists, runners and walkers alike! Theres a couple of steep climbs along the route too but as these provide stunning views they are well worth the climbs! This photo was taken on the way back up Kennel lane, and the end of a lovely walk! Below are 2 of my Kits featuring Butterflies .... Ive got lots more to choose from too! lol

Winner by Vicki Avcin

A few months ago I wrote about our son winning 2 Mustang vehicles. Well he sold the newer one of them and kept the older one a 1968 Shelby. It is a GT 500 Elanor.Last Sunday there was a car show on, run by the Jimboomba Heritage Car Club, at the Pub Lane Tavern (sponsors). We said to Brad that he should enter his car in it, so he did. It was supposed to be held last month but was postponed because of the rain. So we rugged up nice and early and headed off, met up with him and the family and made a morning of it. The meet was called Triple Treat and was open to cars, trucks and motorbikes. There were some beautifully restored vehicles there (and I didnt get pics of any of them!) but it was awesome just looking at them. There were so many that any of the prizes on offer wouldve been worthy of winning. We were parked near some of the motorbikes and I couldnt help but notice one numberplate in particular….. see the photo. So many wonderful comments and lots of people taking photos of Brads car we were hoping he might get something in the prizes. Being his first show, we kind of were a bit disappointed when he didnt get the Encouragement Award. They went through the rest of the trophy presentation and we were about to walk away when they got to the last trophy when they started to read out the number plate of the top award, Peoples Choice……. Hey thats Brad!! What an honour for him. First show ever and he won the biggest trophy of the day. How good is that? So it was definitely worth braving the cold so early in the morning and enjoying the great company of all the people there and seeing some awesome machines.
