Finished at last by Janice McFarlane

Ive been working on this canvas since January. Bit by bit as I could only do it on a weekend. After painting a couple of gnome canvases as gifts my daughter asked if I could do a family one for her. Im not terribly experienced with painting and have learned a lot from YouTube so I embarked on this. Taking each family member and depicting them as gnomes with things that mean something to them and something from the last couple of years. With my son in law it had to be his RAF uniform, he is a corporal and a VIP driver. He also likes to DJ when he can and also plays and coaches ice hockey. My daughter is a runner and currently training for the London marathon. She is by no means as rotund as the gnome Ive painted, in fact the opposite. She is a childminder and during Covid restrictions testing on a daily basis was routine and Covid became her nemesis. Her bright leopard pattern top is a homage to her favourite clothes from Scamp & Dude. Harry the youngest for a long time was into PJ masks hence cat boy but lately has moved on to bugs bunny and Space Jam so at the eleventh hour Before finally finishing I managed to squeeze in the famous rabbit and a basket ball. Alfie I thought it fun to give him a beard as during lockdown his hair grew quite long. He support Liverpool FC and love football. He is also becoming quite accomplished on his skateboard and he also plays Ice Hockey. Last but not least is Roxy the Staffy. She is an old girl now but still like a pup. I gave her the Union flag hat as they are as a family very patriotic. The Chinook helicopter in the background is and ode to where they live at RAF Benson.

Happy Birthday Jessica! by Sue Way

This week was our granddaughter Jessicas 14th birthday! Where has the time gone? She is such a lovely, intelligent girl, we are so proud of her. As it was my birthday a few days before, we went out for dinner to celebrate. We will be seeing her again at the weekend to give her her presents. She also has a surprise trip from her mum and dad to enjoy.

The ... by Carol Clarke

... Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd last week was a lovely joyous time here in our village. As well as the buntings, flags and other decorations we had a lovely get together with a barbeque, music, dancing and fireworks. The local children really loved it and it was a fabulous event. We could even see one of the beacons that were lit on the far hills over to the east. Below are 2 of my CU4CU Digital Clip Art Sets .... theres lots more to choose from too! lol

A new baby by Amanda Assenbruck

We still have our few pretty face wallabies around the place. I was lucky enough to spot the new bub hanging out of Mums pouch and even luckier to get a pic. Mum was a bit nervy but the grass was too tempting i guess. We still feel very privileged to have them around as the we have far more of the large grey kangaroos and usually just the one family of wallabies.

Sorry........... by Vicki Avcin

Another post about winter! Apparently weve had the coldest start to winter in 100 years here in Brisbane. I have to admit that when we left here in 2004 I cannot remember June beingso cold. We sure did get some cold days back then but mornings have been downto 1 deg C (with a feel like temp of minus 1) for about a week. This morning is not much better with temperature as I write this of 5deg C but feels like 2.7 deg C. Weve had frosts and ice on the cars which in a way has kind of been a bit of a novelty as we simply arent used to it. I do remember previously it getting to 0 degC but later in the year (July and August) so Mother Nature really has turned her winter button on. The whole east coast of Australia has felt the brunt of it all with the snow fields metres deep already. After the last couple of years with people not being able to travel they would be loving it, as people flock to the snowfields. The rain has left us for now which has been great as the ground has had time to dry out a little but forecasts are saying that we will have a wetter than usual winter this year as it looks like we are heading into a third La Nina this year. Who knows what will happen. Qld usually only gets snow around Stanthorpe/Applethorp or a little further south around the Qld/NSW border. As Ive never seen snow, Im thinking about maybe a trip down there if it looks like it will be a decent fall. I envy my kids as they are going down to Victoria to the snow fields in August. But in the meantime, Ill stay inside the house with the fire going….. thank heavens we have that!Even the cat likes sitting on her food table, just watching the dancing flames where its warm.
