Why did the Chicken? by Janice McFarlane

As Easter weekend is now on us, I crocheted a whole bunch of Easter themed animals for the occasion. Originally for an Easter craft fair, but I couldnt do it in the end due to illness. I love to not only create the animals or gnomes that I do, I love to create accessories or make them into unique decorative pieces. This easter chick was a bit of a challenge as it has a wire skeleton inside, so it took a while to twist and manipulate all the wire together. One of the most time consuming aspects is brushing the wool out once each piece is created to give a fur or feathered look. It can take a while and its not kind to hands or fingers as they ache after a while. I use heavy duty velcro initially then brush with a pet slicker brush. I loved creating this cheeky chick who looks a little bewildered after just hatching out in his nest.

Ducks! by Sue Way

Every day I park in a side road for work. On one side is a bank that leads to Walton Mere which was originally the 24 acre millpond for a tide mill. A few times over the last few weeks I have seen a duck crossing the road, but the other day I saw three crossing together then heading into one of the gardens of the houses on the other side of the road. I quickly captured this picture of them. I am sure I will see some ducklings soon. Its a lovely way to start a working day and it put a smile on my face.

Music passion leads to new purchase by Judith Henry

During the past two years we have not been traveling. Instead my hubby and I have turned to another passion, play our instruments. My flute was handed down to my daughter when she need a better flute in high school. My returning to playing a flute during Covid made me realize I needed a new flute. What an experience. The music store sent me three flutes to try out. My teacher told me it would be a Harry Potter experience. The flute will choose me. Yes, found my forever flute and joined the local community band in January.

I have started offering my interactive cards in cardmaking and cutting files. im having lots of fun watching the faces of my family and friends as they peer into the story the card introduces.

it .... by Carol Clarke

... was the start of the Easter School Holiday here this week and we had a lovely day with our youngest grandchildren. The weather was cold but luckily it wasnt raining so after playing board games and lunch we went to our local park. We spent a lovely hour there and had lots of fun before walking back to have hot chocolate and a cuddle on the sofa! Below are two of my Pop Out Card Kits ... There are lots more to choose from too! lol

End of an Era by Vicki Avcin

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the terrible flooding that we had and how my sons truck went under. Well the end of an era came when the insurance company wrote his last remaining truck off. Originally my son had 3 trucks as he started off his business about 10 years ago. He started with a small refrigerated truck carting goods for Woolworths, he then got a second truck and put a driver on. Although the money was good and he was able to put on a second driver and went into the warehouse, he wanted bigger things so he brought a bigger prime mover and put one driver in that and began to cart steel. That was better money so he brought a second prime mover and started driving that himself. He then sold the two smaller trucks to just be doing the steel. Three years ago he had the terrible accident when he fell off a ladder at home and fractured his skull and had a bleed on the brain. He hasnt been able to drive since but still had the two trucks hauling steel on the road. Then last year one of his drivers rolled the first truck and it was written off so he only had the one truck working. Now with the flooding he has lost the second truck. Although the insurance paid out on both trucks, it wasnt enough to get more trucks so in effect his business is now closing down. We took him up to the yard so he could salvage what he could before the tow truck came to take it away. I felt so sad for him as Im still kicking myself for not saying to him on the Saturday of the floods to make sure his truck was out of the yard as the area it was parked in at work is notorious for going under. But the floodwater came up so quickly that it probably was already not able to be driven out. He went in on the Sunday, waded through waist deep water and moved it up to as high ground as he could and we were all praying that the water wouldnt get that high. If it got to 7m it wouldve been ok but the water went to 8.2m which totally flooded the yard. When we went up there was 15 semis that were all write offs and several trailers that insurance said were write offs also. So its the end of an era, one Im sure my son is sad about but I am sad too as he worked so hard to get where he was. Not sure what hes going to do now but he said it wont be anything to do with trucks. The photos are the day we said goodbye to the last truck.
