... Had a lovely time again this week at my youngest sons house. My two youngest grandchildren love to craft so I took along a number of sheets and kits Id printed from my own designs plus a number of crafting toys plus some glue and other bits and bobs like glitter and bling! lol We spent a number of happy hours playing and they made a few cards for their teachers and friends. We then decided to go for a walk and Olivias doll, Ken, had to come with us too and I was told to ... Take our picture Nana ... so I did! lol Below are two of my 3D Easel Card Mini Kits ... A World of Books by Janice McFarlane

Last week it was world book day children up and down the country dressing up as their favourite book characters. A stressful time for parents in some ways, especially if they have to make the costumes themselves and arent craft savvy in some cases. My daughter being one of them. Alfie the eldest wasnt a problem as he wanted to dress as Snape from Harry Potter, maybe something to do that he had been to the Harry Potter experience in London the pre ious weekend, so he had a ready made costume. Harry on the other hand wanted to dress up as Hairy Maclary who is a black shaggy coated dog with big eyes. I had never heard of this character so my daughter had to send me a picture. This costume would have to be created and My daughter didnt know where to start, then her hubby came to the rescue and made a fantastic headpiece and collar with Harry dressing in black. I think he did a great job and Harry was delighted.

Will it ever stop? by Vicki Avcin

Last week I wrote about the major flooding round Brisbane which stretched from Maryborough to the Gold Coast and everywhere in between along the east coast of Queensland. Well Mother Nature in her infinite wisdom decided that she would share all that rain, so as it eased in Queensland New South Wales became the receiver of it all. Right up and down from the border at Tweed Heads all the way down to Sydney then got pounded from this massive weather event. The photo of the bridge shows cars and 6 horses stranded as the flood waters rose. They were on that bridge for 3 days as the water swelled beneath them. This whole weather event has been recorded as the worst in history. Since the beginning of the recording of rainfall there has never been anything like it. Meanwhile North Queensland has been breaking its own records of the most prolonged heatwave with temperatures over 40 deg C for over 5 days in a row. Now as it is mid March we come into our peak cyclone period with suggestions of one or two cyclones forming in the Coral Sea late next week. Prime Minister has declared a national emergency for the east coast areas affected by the floods so that disaster relief money can be released to help those that have lost everything. These floods have claimed 17 deaths in Queensland and NSW sadly. Weve had a few days of storms but fortunately no sustained heavy rain. The ground is waterlogged and the creek at the back that normally wouldnt be affected by a half decent storm once again rose up to the back fence within minutes of the rain starting. Thankfully it goes down quickly but we now have a massive Black Fly and mosquito problem with council spraying and fogging. Those Black Flies are vicious and one doesnt dare go out without about 6 layers of insect repellent on…. Miss a bit and the flies will find it!! Theyll be gone in a couple of weeks but till then everyone is bite material.

Two pretty Double Rectangle Floral designs are my featured designs today.

Extraordinary Rain by Amanda Assenbruck

Queensland and NSW have been experiencing another rain event this past week and expecting some more rain over the weekend. This weather is usually only brought on from a cyclone but not this one, it is very unusual. Some places have had over a meter of rain and terrible flooding has occurred. We have had about 140mm the last 7 days, we are up on a hill so dont get flooded and so far the creek hasnt prevented us from getting in or out of town (which is good as I am getting a very painful tooth pulled today). But of course we feel so sad for everyone that has been impacted. Some homes have now gone under multiple times during and since the 2011 flood. If we had still been in Brisbane that would have been us. All the tanks are full, the dams are full and this is our pond.

Lightning Strikes twice! by Tina Fitch

Well i caught these nicely on Wednesday at RAF Lakenheath.. Both F35 Lightnings coming into land side by side. They had been out on their morning sortie training and dog fighting..Was really unusual to see them having dog fights over the base itself, I have never seen anything like it before, it was really entertaining because they are so nimble and go very high but come very low in a matter of seconds.. Was nice to see one covering the other just incase of an ambush...They did a very good job and I was privileged to see it..

Throwback! by Sue Way

Who remembers when CUP news was in print? About 10 years ago craftsUprint brought out 3 editions of the printed magazine craftsINprint Inside there were free downloads from all your favourite designers, including one of mine. Meet the designer, where you found out a bit more about one of the designers life. Projects, games, galleries and designer news. I had a story printed about my granddaughter making cards when she was only 3, she is now nearly 14! Fun times.
