This Ill Defend… by Janice McFarlane

…Gnome Matter What. Having in the last few months taken up painting in acrylics, I am thoroughly enjoying the process not only decorative painting but on canvas too. I did mention a few weeks ago about a Gnome Painting my daughter had asked me to do as a gift for a friend for Christmas. On thinking what to give my step-daughter as a gift for Christmas, my hubby suggested another gnome painting but this time in homage to the family name - McFarlane. So as we have clans in Scotland and Ireland I went with Scotland as there is more easy to find information, albeit nearly all from American websites. So the painting is finally finished of a wee Scottish gnome, with the colours of one of the McFarlane tartans sitting among some Scottish thistles holding a plaque saying This Ill Defend which is the family motto and Stephanie is very protective of her family. I added the Gnome Matter What as a bit of humor. My hubby has put together a short history of the McFarlane Clan to accompany the canvas. Most definitely something different for her.

Sneaky! by Tina Fitch

Just look at this sneaky vixen spying over the top of the hill… she watched one of her offspring take some food Id put out for them. She watched him take it dig a hole and bury it. Once hed done that she came over the hill chased him off dug up the food and ate it.It was really funny to watch but I did feel fr the cub she chased off as he hadnt eaten anything he was saving for later,,The other cubs had had something to eat so I added more so the one that missed out had some. But thats what they do in the wild I spose only the fittest survive.God only knows how many Ill have next year to feed as the 4 cubs are now grown enough to have their own family

Silly Sam by Sue Way

Little Sam is a bit of a coward it seems. Even though he beats Billy up and takes everything off him, as puppies do, when he is worried, he goes to his big brother for comfort. Billy is so good and puts up with it all. I am sure Sams puppy licence will run out but by then they will be best buddies for life. This picture is when Sam was scared of the vacuum cleaner lol

... and my Shadow!! Now then, dont all start bursting into song! lol But ... as I was walking over a small raised area this week I saw out of the corner of my eye a movement to my left ... and had to laugh when I realised it was nothing other than my shadow! lol I was quite amused and mesmerised by it as it kept pace with me (obviously! lol) but sooo looked like it was walking along the grass at the edge of the reeds surrounding a pond! 3D Shaped No-Hole Fold Back Christmas Card Mini Kits .... theres lots more to choose from too! lol

Agapanthus flowers by Amanda Assenbruck

A few weeks ago I told how with the wet year we are having that Agapanthus had sprung up (seemingly) out of nowhere. I was so excited! Well i waited and i waited and finally a few days ago the flowers opened. We have managed to have a dry week this week which has given lawns and everything a bit of time to dry out but...our friend the beekeeper came to collect honey from the hives and got bogged, the same day my husband had taken one of our cars out of the dirt floored shed so he could put down weed mat and gravel to keep the rabbits from burrowing and got his ute bogged in the shed. Too funny! It is supposed to be fairly dry now at least until Wednesday. I wonder what Christmas weather we will have. Today i have a few funny Christmas cards for you.

Storm! by Vicki Avcin

4th December got us excited. Coming from where wed not had a decent storm for years, and I mean a full on storm with all its elements, we watched the clouds build to the SSW and the massive and frequent lightning bolts get closer and closer. Weve seen a few storms around us previously but got nothing more than lots of rain so when the wind picked up and the lightning got closer accompanied by huge claps of thunder we were enjoying a good old summer storm. Forecasts and warnings said massive hail with it but the hail we got was only small. The cat decided that our bed was the safest place but each crack of thunder saw her wondering where else she could hide. While sitting on the bed with her we head an odd noise after one simultaneous lightning bolt and crack of thunder so we knew it had hit something very close. Searched around the house and found that the clock in the lounge had fallen off the wall. No other damage thankfully. We lost power for about 5 minutes but it did come back on thankfully although about 10klm down the road we found out a transformer had been struck. Temperature dropped about 10 degrees in a matter of minutes which was a welcome relief after the 34 deg C day wed had. We had 67mm of rain out of the storm in less than an hour. Its nice to be back where we will get these summer storms. The photo shows the rain (black is the heaviest on the BOM map and dark red on the other) as it approached where we are (heart) and the other photo shows all the cloud to ground lightning strikes so you can see there was a lot. Roll on summer!

Winter storms by Judith Henry

This is not where you would expect our reindeer would be displayed. EF1 tornadoes went through the country side last night with wind speeds between 73 and 112 mph. In the city we did not see this high a degree of weather but were informed we could loose Christmas lights and decoration. The porch was an ideal area to put our deer.
