STEPPER CALENDARS - UPDATED FOR 2022

Ducks by Vicki Avcin

Since weve been in the new place, we were wondering if we would get the wildlife like we had in Hervey Bay. We were happy to find out that we still had Eastern pale headed Rosellas, Rainbow Lorikeets and the odd King Parrot. We missed feeding the Magpies and Butcher birds too but now have 4 maggies and 2 butchers that come down for a feed. Of course we miss our kangas and the babies but there must be some in the reserve down the back of us as weve found roopoo down the back yard….. we just havent seen them yet. The reserve is a designated Koala reserve and although weve not seen them, we do believe weve heard their grunting noises at night time. One of the things we also had in the Bay was Wood Ducks and Pacific Black Ducks, which weve also got most days in the back yard here, but weve seen two ducks weve not seen before. Very distinct in their markings and after much investigation believe them to be Plumed Whistling Ducks. They are a tall, long necked duck, with very prominent long lanceolate off-white plumes edged in black along the flanks. The face is light, the crown and hind neck are pale brown and the brown feathers of the upper back are edged buff. The breast is pale chestnut, finely barred in black. They live in the northern and eastern tropics but can also be found as far down as New South Wales. They live around lagoons and swamps and as we have a lagoon not far from the back of the property our bet is they hang around that and come into the yard eating grass seeds. As their breeding season is at the start of the tropical wet season (already started this year), we hope theyll have some babies which theyll bring up to the yard sometime. So we arent without our wild life here which is fantastic.

Today I am promoting my new uploads which are a Christmas Activity Book and Christmas Activity Placemats. The book would make a great stocking stuffer and the placemats great for the table for Christmas Lunch or Dinner

Fall colors by Judith Henry

Today we had winter storm warnings. November?? Too soon. But the leaves have turned and we have raked up over 12 bags already. Leaves are still falling. Tonight we are suppose to see snow. Yikes. This is a great time to snuggle under warm blankets, start my Christmas cards, drink warm cider and enjoy a warm fire. Im thankful for the beauty in the trees but not for the chance of snow.

Little Pretty Face Wallaby

by Amanda Assenbruck

Our Pretty Face Wallabies are back this year. I usually only see Mum and Bub but did also see Dad the other day.You can see Bub is actually quite large now! He/she, however still fits in Mums pouch, with difficulty and generallywith tail still hanging out, so funny to watch the squirming going on to get in there. Dont worry about the fencing, theyare not in a pen, just between my fenced off garden and the driveway fence. The Christmas Globe Koala is just one of my Christmas animals set.

The .... by Carol Clarke

.... first frost of the season!! Today we woke up to ice covered windscreens and pretty scenes of frost encrusted fields and hedgerows! It was made all the more beautiful with the lovely wintery sun making the frost sparkle too! I took this photo down as local byway called Weavers Lane. As you can see it affords gorgeous views all the way south and west over Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and is a popular place to walk! Below are two of my 3D Christmas Up Front Card Kits ... There are lots more to choose from too! lol

I Will Walk 500 miles… by Janice McFarlane

…not quite. Last weekend my grandson Alfie went on a 20km walk with the Cubs group he belongs to at RAF Benson. It certainly was going to be a challenge and the children were told to do their best and if they felt too tired they could go back to the Mini bus. When Alfie returned home he proudly announced that he was the only one who completed the full 20km walk. He is extremely fit because he does other sports and for someone who is only nine has a lot of stamina too, although once home he was shattered. I think I was shattered at the thought of a walk that distance, but very proud of his achievement.

Hes a bird dog … by Sue Way

Sam is fascinated by birds, he sits and watches them for ages. Today we had a lots of bird activity in our garden so he was mesmerised. He spent a very long time watching a pigeon sitting on the fence, but when I looked at his face I was shocked to see he was really drooling!! I know Golden Retrievers were bred to hunt, but they dont usually eat them! I think he was dreaming if pigeon pie lol
