Hectors House by Janice McFarlane

Im preparing for a crft fair in July so am crocheting various products and toys as well as some other bits. Two off my larger makes are these two plant pot gnomes. Which I have named Hector and Harriet. They sit in terracotta plant pots which I hand painted. They took a while to make, but I so enjoyed doing them and they stand about two feet tall. I always like to give my creations little extras which arent necessarily in the pattern. I wanted Harriet to have long lashes to make her look more feminine etc. As I was deciding what to call them, I had a memory flash of a childrens programme I loved as a child called Hectors House. It only had 3 characters and all were hand puppets - Hector the beagle, Zsa Zsa the cat and Miss Kiki the frog. Although it was called Hectors house it was mainly set in Hectors garden. It was a charming little show and I can still hum the theme tune to it. No CGI just plain old hand puppets. I wonder how many of todays childrens shows will instill the same sort of memories as some of the older childrens programmes we had as a child, with their catchy theme tunes. The good old days!

Majestic by Tina Fitch

Just look at him! Isnt he handsome! This is the father Fox that comes down daily to the back of my garden. Sits on the large fallen tree waiting for me to take out a treat! Each day is the same morning is roughly 8ish and he just waits watching to see if I have something for him, I normally have a few dog biscuits for him which he takes probably back to his den. Then comes back for more lol. This week was rather exciting too as his mate and him bought the Cubs down probably for food but Im saying to show me. They played around for a short while then they took them away as quickly as they arrived.I have never seen a Fox in such good condition he is really beautiful , he is fluffy and keeps himself well maintained.Perhaps next week Ill have photos of the Cubs for you

Winter is here! by Vicki Avcin

Weve just had our first winter blast here with forecasters are saying plenty more to come yet. Around 10th June the first snow fell close to Queensland at Guyra and Ben Lomond. Glen Innes actually got snow as well. These places are a couple of hours over the border into NSW. We werent immune to the cold and felt it here with temperatures dropping drastically also. Even the cat curled up in our bed for a few days. For some of you snow isnt a big deal but here in Queensland its a big deal with people heading off to places like Guyra, just to see it. I will one day unless I pluck up the courage to go full on and head off to the snowfields like Thredbo or Mt Buller which are further south. Its on my bucket list! At Guyra people gather (camping believe it or not) and then as the snow falls start they head over to the bowling green and wait. Its actually become a yearly tradition with some people. This fall is the biggest fall in the area for about 16 years and was unexpected with good coverage by the second day. A lot of disappointed people as they were hoping it would last into the weekend but by Friday night it had all but gone. We are about to get another blast this weekend with bitterly cold SW winds coming in but snow isnt forecast. My birthday was 1st June which just happens to be the first official day of winter here……… and I hate winter so its always a reminder that the cold is coming.

Promoted items this week is a Bumper kit of gorgeous Christmas designs and a very pretty Notelet set that would suit many occasions.

The Wattles are flowering! by Amanda Assenbruck

It is very pretty on my road (and in my yard) as the wattles are flowering well. They dont mind the cold weather. As you can see there is still some green grass, the frosts have been mild so far (in saying that last time we had amild winter we then had a week of -5 to -7 degrees which torched everything well into spring). Even the bougainvillea and my geishagirl are still happy. After years of drought it is so nice to see everything thriving!

My first card was inspired by a recent birthday. There are ones for each month. My second card is one of my vintage car cards, there are more to choose from. There is also a matching A4 sheet for this card. Stay well and keep crafting!

day ... Another Park! lol We had our youngest grandchildren for the day again this week, and took them to yet another lovely local park. Six year old Austin loved exploring the lovely climbing frames! Wed had them whilst their Mummy was at work and their Daddy (our youngest son) was competing in the Northampton 10k race. Our son said he was really disappointed in his effort this time and said hed been feeling a little off peak and done not done very well .... But then I checked the results and saw hed come 6th out of 971 entrants .... with a chip time of 32.46 minutes! lol Below are two of my Milk Carton Box Mini Kits designs ... There are lots more to choose from too! lol

Vibrant Poster Art by Janyce Cotterill

I have a friend who is involved with a carers group. This has given her opportunity to be involved with a group known as Carers Cultural Adventures. The creative hub where this group of like-minded individuals meet is at a local art gallery. Here they meet with professional artists for workshops. However due to the global pandemic the group had to find others ways to interact such as meetings online or though the post etc. As restrictions have eased and venues reopen, the group has been working with illustrator Bethan Laker to create largescale post art. These have been hanging outside the gallery inviting the community back into the art gallery once more. Here is some of the colourful posters produced by my friend and the group. They really grab your attention as you pass the gallery! I hope you like them as much as I do. Im also leaving you with two designs from my latest colourful collection, Quilted Satin. Happy crafting everyone and thank you for your interest.

Finally got to see it by Carol Dunne

For the last number of years when our laburnum tree flowers we rush up to Bodnant Gardens in North Wales to see their famous Laburnum arch, but every time we have been we have got the timing wrong. It has either been in flower and they have all finished or the buds are yet to open so we have always missed it. This year we got it just right and as you can see it is absolutely stunning.

Two Big Wheels! by Sue Way

In the last few months, our seaside town has welcomed two big wheels to the seafront! They are to mark the 150th Anniversary of Celebrations in Clacton. One is on the pavilion and is called the observation wheel. It goes around very slowly, a bit like the London Eye so that passengers can look over the sea and the town. The other one is on the pier and is called Clacton Pier Wheel Experience, this seems to move a bit faster so is more like a ride This will be a community wheel which we will also use as a focus for fundraising activities for charity. They certainly make a wonderful sight, especially at night when they are lit up.

Crazy Horse Memorial, South Dakota, USA by Sandie Burchell

On our road trip in May, we went to the Crazy Horse Memorial. Crazy Horse was a Native American war leader of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. The top of my photo shows the mountain which is being carved to look like the bottom of my photo if you look to the right, you can see where the horses head will be. This is an incredible feat! The memorial was commissioned by Henry Standing Bear, a native American and Oglala Lakota chief. Polish American sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski, born in Boston, Massachusetts, designed the sculpture, thinking it would take 30 years to build. Its now been 73 years, and its nowhere near finished. The finished version will be 563 feet high and 641 feet long and show the Native American warrior with long hair sitting on horseback. The sculptor passed away in 1982 but his family is carrying on with the sculpture. On the site they have built a Native American Cultural Center which houses lots of Native American artifacts to raise funds to complete the sculpture. It is unknown at this time when it will be finished but when complete it will be known as the eighth wonder of the world!I am promoting two of my latest Christmas Room Shaped Decoupage Mini Kits, many of which are on Special Offer currently. Thank you for looking!
