Me, Myself and I by Janice McFarlane

With it looking hopeful that schools will be reopening in March, I here every parent who has had to home school breathe a sigh of relief. Im sure all parents will be dancing a jig all the way home from the school run. There is no doubt it has been a trying time and I have nothing but admiration for those who have become temporary educators in the face of adversity. Whilst home schooling is still ongoing, my grandson Alfies English project is to find pictures of lockdown since last March to his local area and write a diary entry. Apart from taking photos from around the RAF camp at Benson in Oxfordshire where they live, Alfie and his mum put a search into Google. They were more than surprised when Alfies own photo came up on the top row and second one along in the search. The picture was taken last year for the RAF Benevolent Fund magazine, focusing how some children were coping with lockdown. So I said to him he could genuinely say in his diary entry for English, that he put a search in the pc for lockdown pictures locally, and that he actually found himself.

Lockdown learning by Pat Peach

Lockdown has been hard on all of us but I have been trying to look at the positive side. One of my main hobbies is taking photgraphs of creatures whether that be birds, mammals, reptiles or insects. Lockdown meant that I could not go abroad on safari and for a long time I was limited on where I could go in the UK. However once lockdown lifted a bit and we were allowed to drive 10 miles I made a great new discovery. I was searching the internet for places where I could see creatures in the UK and found the Wildlife Trust websites, just about one per county. There were hundreds of places I could go to see whatever wildlife turned up - some were very close to my home and I had never known they were there. I have now visited lots of sites and seen lots of new creatures - for me this has just been wonderful. Now I have mny places I can go to look for creatures, take photgraphs and lift my spirits. Lockdown is painful but for me there has been a least one positive which I can enjoy for the rest of my life.

This is just one use I make of the wildlife which I photograph

Lovely walks by Sue Way

The weather has improved slightly in the UK and spring is (hopefully) in the air! We are trying to take more interesting walks, but sticking to the rules by not travelling out of our area. So our walks have got a lot longer! We started with 4 miles and have gradually increased it over the week to 5 miles. We have a little stop halfway for a sit down with a drink and a snack and then we are off again. We are running out of new places to go, so hopefully, we can drive a little further afield very soon. It certainly brightens your mood getting out in the fresh air. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Thank you for continuing to support us. https://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/

... of Winter colour!! On a short stroll this week we were amazed to see all these amazingly beautiful ,bright and vibrant colours. They just seemed to shine right out at us! It was a lovely sunny morning, although there was also a rather bitterly cold wind too. But these beautiful, natural colours made us smile!Below are two of my latest floral designs ... Watch out for more ... Coming Soon! lol

Share a Coke by Vicki Avcin

Here in Australia they do a Share a Coke campaign every year. It usually involves having Coca Cola labels printed with different words, like Maaaaate, Champ, Cuz, etc but this year the campaign allows people to apply for personalised labels. Hubby and my first date anniversary is 14th February, yes Valentines Day, this year being our 24th Anniversary. This year hubby decided to do something different to the flowers thing that he usually does. He kept saying to me youve got a surprise coming. After him saying it a few times I bit back and asked what was it? Of course he wouldnt tell me so I assumed one of the kids was coming up. They have this habit of not letting me in on the secret although hubby knows so I did ask him which kid is coming up. No no kids. So the mail lady turned up with this parcel and all was revealed. It was 2 bottles of Coca Cola with Nannyfire and Poppyfire labels. So how cute is that? Nannyfire and Poppyfire is the name one lot of grandkids call us because their other grandparents are Nanny and Poppy, so because hubby and I are firefighters they added fire to the end of the Nanny and Poppy. So these two bottles sit proudly on the bookshelf now, because we dont want to drink them, they are one offs and would be a shame to open them.
