Puppy Love by Janice McFarlane

As a child I always wanted a dog (before I became a crazy cat lady). My parents agreed and bought a corgi puppy which we called Bryn. He was the cutest thing, but became very poorly and sadly passed away at about 12 weeks old, I was heart broken. Fast forward a few years and another pup was bought, This time from a more reputable breeder and we called him Glyn. He was quite a character, and could get quite snappy at times but he was adorable. It always amused me when he lay down and his bag legs were stretched out it looked so comical. When I saw a crochet pattern for a corgi pup, I just had to make it. It was a different challenge this time as to how the pup was made up and also involved a lot of brushing afterwards with a slicker brush to get a furry appearance, which I had never done before. In fact that part of it took longer than crocheting him up, as well as having sore fingers. I am delighted with the result and even made him a little cushion. I have many fond memories of Glyn and making this little pup reminded me of that.

In Edmonton we have a great Mueseum Called Fort Edmonton Park.In the late 18th century, the Hudsons Bay Company was in fierce competition with the North West Company for the trade of animal furs in Ruperts Land. As one company established a fur trading post, the other would counter by building another post in close proximity. Expansion up the Saskatchewan River began in the 1790s. In the summer of 1795, the North West Company constructed Fort Augustus where the Sturgeon River meets the North Saskatchewan River, just north of the present-day city of Fort Saskatchewan, approximately 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of the final Fort Edmonton (near the present-day Alberta Legislature Building in Edmonton). In 1969, a reconstruction of the fifth Fort Edmonton began five km upstream from its final site, representing it as it stood in 1846, but this time on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River. This marked the beginning of Fort Edmonton Park, which has become one of the citys premier tourist attractions. The park represents, through various historical buildings, four distinct time periods, exploring Edmontons development from a fur trade post in the vast Northwest of Canada.When we visited with my Grand kids we where able to show them what I loved to do as kid, a different kind of pastime not know anymore today.

Want a laugh! Ive just listened to the Health minister bragging that we have given a first dose of vaccine to 800,000 people. Ive check the UK figures and you have vaccinated 700,000 people in the last 2 DAYS !!!! The situation here is France is nowhere near as bad as in the UK, but it will be. So instead of watching the news, I try to find the few beautiful things that life still offers us. This photo is one of them. We have had quite a few snowfalls and you can see some remnants on the photo but the light of the sunset on these trees was just magic. It looked like Christmas lights. In the hope that you will be tempted by my two latest designs, Im on designer discount from today so please feel free to have a look around, have a laugh at the French and their incredible arrogance and stay safe ... Looking back at good days by Judith Henry

My poor little dog Jazz has oral cancer. We have been babying him for several months now. He is still eating, has his normal morning routine and loves playing and eating snow. Yesterday he came prancing in all bright eyed and looking to play. I found these first day home pictures. He is a black and white sheltie. See how he is wearing his tuxedo, white spats and all that Jazz.

.... Winter is definitely here now with lots of frosts and weve even had quite a bit of snow already now too! The local children are loving it though and sledges have been fetched out of the sheds and outhouses and snowmen have been made too! Lol Years ago when our children were little we used to have soooo much more snow though .... and we were often snowed in! Lol

Floral Wreath by Tina Fitch

Ive done so well with my self taught wreath making! And Im so enjoying it playing with mesh instead of card. However the mess is worse than card I can tell you, twice now Ive blocked the hoover lol This is my latest after practicing for hours. 3 rolls of deco mesh used but I think it looks rather nice. My opinion of course .. Im now making a cross which is really taking its toll on my fingers wrapping the pipe cleaners round a small metal frame. But I will persevere as I think it will become my second income. Anyway thats all from me this week. Floral cards are my pics of the week. Enjoy and happy crafting. And stay safe!!

Mud! by Sue Way

We love living by the beach, but doing the same walk every day is getting a bit boring. So the other day we decided to brave the wet conditions and take Billy to the local country park. Oh dear, we underestimated how muddy it would be, but Billy being a Golden Retriever loved it! He seemed to be dirtier than any other dog we passed, but he looked so joyful. We are used to dealing with seawater and sand, but not MUD! So on the way home, we went straight to the beach and threw a stone into the sea just as a big wave came and completely cleaned him. Look at the state of him, he even has slobber on his face. But he looks so happy. Its that time of the year when the Bunya Nuts start to drop. We watch each year to see how many and how big. Usually we cant see them in the top of the tree but this year we have been watching at least 5 that can be seen. Well 3 days ago we had some really strong winds and one succumbed to it and came down. Then the next day we found a second one and today a third one. So wont be long until the others drop. Weve been cleaning up round an old pond that doesnt hold water, and have been working in the vicinity of the tree, lucky enough just far enough away that if one falls it wont land on us. These nuts weigh around 5 to 8 kgs and each pod has a spike on the end of it so having one land on you wouldnt be a good outcome. The smallest one was the first to fall, then the last one was the biggest, so be interesting to see if the ones still up there are bigger again! We already have people wanting them as the nuts inside each pod can be used in stir fry, to make a paste like peanut butter or just be roasted. As they arent a common nut they sell for quite a bit. We got $25 each for 3 last year. We havent decided what we will do with them yet and will wait for the rest to fall so we know how many we have.
