Destruction by Vicki Avcin

Well an update on the fire on the Word Heritage listed Fraser Island/Kgari that has been raging for the past 6 weeks now. Weve been seeing the glow in the sky from the mainland every night as we watch it burn further south each day. At the moment the area around Kingfisher Resort is of major concern and staff and visitors have been evacuated. Queensland Fire and Emergency services have taken over as the lead agency now with Queensland Parks and Wildlife and the Butchella Corporation assisting and the plan of action at the moment is trying to steer the fire away from the resort. There is no chance of extinguishing so property protection is and has been the main focus. With no rain in sight for at least another week, due to terrain and weather conditions it will continue to burn. Aerial water bombers have been working each and every day to dump millions of litres of water but it is more of a containment measure than an extinguishment measure at this stage. Crews on the ground have been working long days trying to cut and clean up breaks where they can. We are all hoping that we get some good heavy solid rain soon. Wildlife losses will be high but dingoes and their pups are being seen more along the beaches as they try and stay ahead of the fire. Its really sad to see but weve had some spectacular moons at night and sunsets each day because of the smoke haze from the island. The yellow outline is the area burnt since the satellite image and the red box is Kingfisher Resort. Over 80 thousand hectares have been burnt out to date.

This weeks designs are for the Aussies……. Two quick and easy to assemble Christmas designs for those last minute cards.

A lovely surprise by Carol Dunne

After being in lockdown again and the weather being so dismal it was lovely to get a special delivery of an afternoon cream tea. My daughter had ordered it to cheer us up because we hadnt been able to visit for a while. In the box came two scones which were nice and fresh, two pots of jam, a big pot of thick clotted cream and two tea bags. Needless to say we enjoyed it very much.

Two of my latest open front designs for you to look at.

After ... by Carol Clarke

... the frost and mist had started to lift the other day ... the sun peeped though the clouds and gave me this gorgeous scene as I was walking down an ancient byway near to where I live. The quaintly named byway is called Dog and Bear Lane but is now little more than a footpath, I have tried, but failed, to find out why its so named but so far cant find any reference to how it came to be named. It is located between Annesley Hall and Newstead Abbey so its very possible that Lord Byron walked along it at some point as he is know to have visited Annesley Hall frequently and theres an avenue of trees nearby known as Byrons Walk too! Below are two of my Cards in a Mini Milk Carton kits. These make great sellers at Christmas Fayres and are lovely cards for Children to send to friends, family and teachers etc There are lots more to choose from too! lol

Gnome place like Home by Janice McFarlane

Nordic Gnomes are so popular now, they seem to be everywhere in all different shapes and sizes. Not just for the Christmas period but for any time of the year. A lot of my own card kits have also reflected this. So I embarked on more needle felting projects making some Gnomes. I didnt really have a plan as such, but decided to do some carolling Gnomes and make more of a table top decoration. Then I had the idea of if I could find some miniature Christmas trees I would make a scene. Then I thought I could put some micro lights around the tree and it snowballed from there (no pun intended). I even made the bases myself and over the weekend, ended up to my eyes in artificial snow and glitter, not so good when you have a cat and live in a small bungalow with limited space to do any kind of crafting. But in the end I think it was worth it and they turned out well, and have since sold.

Festive Holly by Janyce Cotterill

So here we are, December. An exciting time for many, a busy month for lots of people, reflective weeks for some but for most I hope, after the difficult year, it can be a time of enjoyment. It definitely is going to be a sad month for a lot of people but hopefully in the sadness there may be moments of joy. As we go into the New Year with hope of the covid vaccine on the horizon lets pray 2021 is a better year for everyone across the Earth. Thank you to everyone who has purchased from me in the past year, or used any of my card verses. I hope crafting has helped you get through the lockdowns and the various tiers we have found ourselves in here in the UK and abroad. Best wishes to you all, and may you find much happiness waiting for you in 2021. When out for a walk a few days ago I saw lots of bright holly, there was a lady gathering some to make a Christmas wreath for her door. Here is a photo I took of the constant symbol of the season. Nature - what bountiful, beautiful treasures she offers to us. Im leaving you with my latest mini kit and if you still need a quick Christmas card, a sheet that takes minutes to make!

Jessicas drawings by Sue Way

My 12-year-old granddaughter Jessica has recently been getting into drawing Anime and Manga figures. She sent me these ones and I love them. She is obviously as talented as her mum when it comes to art. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Thank you for continuing to support us. https://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/
