More Catchups. by Vicki Avcin

Well one thing this year with all the issues surrounding Covid-19 is the fact that here in Queensland weve not been subject to the lockdown laws that have been happening in other states here in Australia apart from not being able to travel to other states. This has seen people taking holidays due to businesses closing down for the duration as social distancing laws have not enabled normal operations. So for the second time this year friends weve not seen since we left Brisbane in 2004 are taking trips within Queensland rather than going interstate.Weve just had a visit from another lot of friends that hit the road and toured outback Queensland and on their way back to Brisbane they have called in for a stay over. John used to be our local councillor and we worked together in the Chamber of Commerce. So not everything has been totally negative this year with a couple of months ago having another lot of friends who stopped over on their way home from touring also. Was a fantastic four days with lots of reminiscing about the good old days. We also met and got to know Lea his partner whom he met since we had last seen him.

My cards this week are both Christmas designs, one in traditional colours and one for those that like no so traditional.

Grabbing the sunshine! by Sue Way

This week has been a typical UK mixture of warm sunshine, cold wind & showers. We have to walk Billy whatever the weather, but its lovely to grab some sunshine as we walk along the prom and onto the beach, where we live. Billy has a great time digging in the sand and we soak up some lovely warm rays. An hour after this picture was taken, we had a thunderstorm and the sky looked electric. Luckily we were back home before it started. As autumn creeps in, we have to make the most of the good days. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Thank you for continuing to support us. I love looking at all your beautiful cards and designs.

What ... by Carol Clarke

... a fantastic kaleidoscope of colour there is to be seen out along the highways and byways, woods and footpaths at the moment! I took these photos in a little copse of trees a couple of minutes walk from my front door. The bright red leaf in the middle was shining in the sunshine and at first glance Id thought it was a rose ... although I couldnt understand why I hadnt seen roses there before! lol

An Admirable Display by Janice McFarlane

I think summer has been a complete washout this year, not only because of the lockdown restrictions, but the weather has been awful too. I dont feel like we have had a summer at all. We normally see a lot of bees especially out the front of the bungalow as we have two large lavender plants, but this year they were late to arrive and early to disappear, and certainly not in the vast numbers we had last year. Butterflies have also been scarce, with just the odd cabbage white fluttering around. We did see a squirrel in our garden though. But the other day I was quite amazed to see a beautiful Red Admiral butterfly, quite happily sitting on our window frame at the front of our house, it was quite a large one too. I was surprised to see one given the fact we are now into October and it didnt fly away as I got really close to take a photo, but just stayed there. It was perfect, the symmetry of the wings, and the vibrant red and black colouring was truly stunning. On closer inspection its antennae amused me as they looked like very fine wire twisted together, perfectly straight. The beauty of this wonderful creation was certainly a joy to see.

Twins! by Tina Fitch

Not very often do you see two F-15s coming into land side by side... these were caught recently by me doing just that!Im face one had an issue and his wingman saw him in. Then full throttle out over the runway while the other landed to get tended to by his mechanics..It always amazes me how graceful they are in flight. I suppose thats why they are called Eagles. The look like eagles when parked I think. And they always make me happy while watching them perform.. I call it my happy placeAnyway thats all from me this week. Short but sweet. I have some beautiful new Luminarie cards in my store now that can be placed into shadow boxes or you can use as stand alone cards. See you next week! Thanks for your continued support.
