MEET CHARLOTTE by Wanda Lipski

Charlotte, born on the 23rd September is the first member of a new generation in my family, making me a GREAT aunt. (I always knew I was fantastic ... now I have official confirmation. My own mother is not so exstatic about becoming a great grandmother as she says it makes her feel really, really old, but my lucky lucky younger sister is absolutely over the moon. Charlotte weighed in at a little over two bags of sugar as my sister put it ... she was born earlier than expected at 7:12 in the evening. However, mother and baby were sent home at 2 in the morning !!!!! No comment on that ... but just wanted to share with all you GRANDmothers that even lowly aunts can be GREAT ... and she is a sweety sucking her thumb just as soon as she was born. While Im green with envy, you just enjoy your week and stay safe.

Darcey by Janice McFarlane

Well, we are now back under more restrictions, and more areas have been put into local lockdowns. My former home town of Hartlepool being one of them. (I am thankful I no longer live there). Leeds is another area, which has been quite bad for some time. Unfortunately for me, this is where my beautiful eldest granddaughter Darcey lives. She is 13 now and we would have normally had her come and stay during the summer holidays, but alas, we were unable to see her, due to our countrys present situation. She is growing up to be a beautiful young lady, not just in appearance but nature too. She is finding it frustrating, as she loves school and looked forward to going back in September into Year 9. Unfortunately only two weeks in and she is being home schooled again, as her school for whatever the reason didnt have enough teaching staff for the year 9 students to enable them to comply with social distancing measures. Its a sign of the times we are living in now I suppose. Even through all this Darcey has remained very positive, and I love to get messages from her saying things like, Hi Nanna I saw this or that and thought of you today, or Hi Nanna I miss you. Even these little things from her mean so much to me and lift my spirit in what is strange times.

Close up by Tina Fitch

Just look at this beautiful fox! Yesterday Wednesday I heard the noises of foxes fighting or so I thought. I rushed outside to look as I have fox dens behind my fence in back garden. Two foxes were what looked like having a row lol. The noise was awful. One decided it had had enough and quietly retreated into the woods behind. The other sat looking like a Queen on the large log left from one of the trees felled after the bad weatherNot sure if male or female to be honest but looks like a Queen so Im saying female She sat there for 10 minutes and I just looked at her. Then thought go get camera but then thought Id go and shed vanish! I got the camera and she was still there. She looked so peaceful.

Greenhouse update! by Sue Way

Throughout the summer we were working hard on creating a more useable area to our front garden. We had a wall all the way around the house, then a big garden the other side of it, that we just maintained but never got to enjoy, So hubby knocked down part of the wall, put in iron railings further out. He created a seating area, erected a new greenhouse and raised beds for the fruit bushes he wants to grow. We have managed to have a few weeks to enjoy it and I am sure it will really come into its own next spring. At last we get to enjoy our lovely big front garden, which also gets a lot more sun than the back garden. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Thank you for continuing to support us. I love looking at all your beautiful cards and designs.

The Last Roses of Summer

by Janyce Cotterill

As we move into Autumn here in the UK I thought Id just give your eyes a final glimpse of summer at her best. These were the final photos I took of roses as the leaves were on the brink of taking on their golden, brown, russet-red hues. Goodbye beautiful flowers, time for your rest, allowing the next season to show us her finery. Every season holds her own beauty, and how blessed we are as they reveal themselves so beautifully, they take their own time, no hurry. Slowly allowing us to soak in the turning of the year. Hope you are enjoying your season wherever you are in the world. These are difficult times for everyone, nature helps ease the stress of the trying circumstances we find ourselves in at the moment. Enjoy what she gives us for free. Im jumping a season now with what Im leaving you. On these sheets are images and words of Christmas and the delight it brings. It will be a lot different this year everyone, for so many reasons, but I hope these verses bring some cheer. There is a collection of four sheets in the collection. Many thanks for your interest. Take care.

Another baby by Vicki Avcin

Its springtime and besides the kangaroos having their babies the birds also have young still in the nest or the odd couple that are bringing their offspring down to meet us. However this little magpie wasnt quite ready to leave the nest just yet, but we had a couple of windy days early this week and this one was blown out of the nest. He still cannot fly, has his down feathers still and no tail feathers that are big enough to help him balance in flight. So he has been sitting on some logs down near the shed. He isnt scared of us and actually squawks when we go up to him looking for food. Mum and Dad keep an eye on him from the trees above and we hope they are feeding him. At night we put him in a cat carrier and put him inside to protect him from predators and put him back out early each morning. We are not feeding him but keeping an eye on the parents to make sure they havent abandoned him. The parents are friendly and come and eat out of our hands so they know we arent a threat to this little bub. Hopefully he will make it and he will grow up OK. If the parents abandon it, we will put it into the hands of the Wildlife Rescue and once hes checked out, grown and able to fly he will be released back onto our property.

The Red Deer Stags Are Still Roaring...

by Clare Walker

Some things, at least, never change. One is that the red deer stags in Richmond Park are still rutting and roaring as usual. It was an absolute joy to be able to wander through the park this week, and hear their roars and bellows echoing through the park. Even better (and just at the point when wed given up hope of actually seeing one of them and had turned back towards the car park) we came across this gorgeous stag. A true creature of beauty and awe, who made our day.
