These ... by Carol Clarke

... are just a few of the beautiful wildflowers I see every day on my walks. It seems that nature has outdone herself this year as I am sure there are more wild flowers and they are more beautiful than I have seen any other year! I wish I had been able to take photos of all the different flowers I saw but I cant bend down far enough to take the photos since I had my new knee. You will just have to take my word for it that they make such a wonderful carpet of colour! lol Below are 2 of my Mini Kits ... Watch out for more ... COMING SOON! lol

Wings of Change by Janice McFarlane

My daughter this last week sent me pictures of these huge black and yellow caterpillars which have invaded her garden. she had never seen any like it before and was quite intrigued. She looked up the caterpillar and discovered that it would eventually turn into a Cinnabar Moth. Whilst its colouring of vibrant red and deep scarlet and the wings look impressive its a moth and they have always given me the creeps (I blame the Hammer House Horror movies from the 70s lol). I can just about cope with the little ones, but larger ones with big furry bodies I really dont like. These caterpillars apparently only feed on two types of plant, one being Ragwort which seems to be what Kayleigh has, or should I say did have, From the moment of discovering them, to going back to have a look just over an hour later, they had completely demolished the plant. This is quite normal and on further research Kayleigh found they will turn on themselves and eat each other if they run out of plants. They also are a common species although I have never come across them. They eventually go underground to remain in their chrysalis, before emerging next spring as fully fledged moths. Rather Kayleigh have that experience than me.

The Gift That`ll Keep On Giving...

by Clare Walker

Another birthday has rolled around again recently. A huge highlight for was receiving these these fabulous Japanese-style watercolours. Turns out that my wonderful hubby had been listening carefully after all when I rabbited on about, `cruelty free art supplies` the other week. What a wonderful present. And it`s a gift that will keep on giving-probably for years to come. Have a great weekend, everyone.

These shaped Christmas cards are on designer discount, along with the rest of my shop, until Monday. Enjoy!

Feline Fears by Lauren C. Waterworth

Last week was pretty awful. On Monday evening I realised that I hadnt seen our cat Neko all day and she hadnt come out after our son William had gone to bed. I finally found her hiding in the babys room and I knew something was wrong. She wouldnt eat or drink and her abdomen was swollen. We took her to the vets on Tuesday morning who initially thought it might be gastroenteritis but they wanted to take a blood test. She came home with us but then had to go back in the evening - it was her kidneys. She had to have treatment for kidney disease, something she would never recover from. They wanted her on a drip to try and get her kidney levels back to normal. I spent three nights not knowing if we were going to have to say good bye to our crochety feline and my heart was breaking. On Friday night the vet called and said they were happy for us to bring her home. She will be monitored for the next few week and will have to have a special diet from now on. She could live for weeks or years, its still too early to tell.We are so grateful to have her back, even if it ends up being for only a little while longer.

Farewell to the Queen by Vicki Avcin

Sad day to day for Queenslanders as we say farewell to the Queen of the Skies with the Brisbane farewell flight for the last remaining Qantas 747-400ER Wunala VH-OEJ – the 57th and last Boeing 747 delivered to Qantas in 2003QF747 made its last landing ever after a farewell joyflight from Brisbane Airport, over north Brisbane, down and over the Gold Coast and back to touch down back at Brisbane Airport. A limited number of seats were available for people to put their name down and go into a draw to be part of the historic flight. I wasnt on it, sadly, but for the lucky ones that did win a seat, it mustve been a very nostalgic experience. Im an avid plane spotter and wouldve loved to have been down there to see her grace the skies for one last time. I will never get to fly on a 747, something I always wanted to do. As the 747s are being mothballed all over the world, it is a sad time for aviation and aviation buffs so to just be able to watch her take off, fly and land really does bring a tear to the eye. Hubby has flown on one many years ago when he had to go to Melbourne for work. There was a pilot strike on at the time and no domestic flights so he had to board an incoming international flight and go to Melbourne on that. Economy was fully booked so he got to go upstairs and fly business class. He says it is one of the best experiences he ever had at work! He watched the Livestream this morning with me and said he really did feel sad that these planes are now being taken out of service. She will take off one last time to go back to Sydney then Canberra for 2 more joyflights and then go to the boneyard forever. Big push on for the Fire Services to take a couple on for air tankers. Personally Id like to see one go to the QANTAS museum in Longreach (where QANTAS was born) so that people can experience her forever. Farewell Queen of the Sky.

Look at his face! by Sue Way

At the beginning of lockdown, we became grandparents again when my son & daughter-in-law had their first baby, a little girl. Billy has never met her, but this is his reaction when he heard a video of her chatting to her mummy. I think he will love her. I cant wait to see her and give her a cuddle. https://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/
