Lucky Dip and Strawberries

by Deborah Davies

Since the lockdown my Mum has encouraged me to take part in her hobby - gardening a Percy Thrower, I am not. I had a go and you can see from pictures by strawberries are coming well. I then decided I would buy some salad essentials in seed form. I entrusted Mum to start them all off and she did and then dropped them all!!! She put them back guessing which tubs they belonged in.... hence the name Lucky Dip. They are growing lovely....I believe I may have peppers, chilli peppers, tomatoes and possibly raddish .....possibly or maybe being the operative words because the only leaf I have identified if the tomato!!

A male and female selection both ideal for any occasion.

King Parrot by Helen Howell

We are lucky in Australia to have a diversity of beautiful coloured birds. In my own region we have Rainbow Lorikeets that visit the garden, but up in the hills where my son lives they are fortunate enough to have King Parrots. These are constant visitors to his garden and often land on the balcony railing looking for a helping of seed. Their magnificent red heads and breast make them really stand out. I was lucky enough to see one or two on my last visit and take this photograph.

Happy Birthday Jessica! by Sue Way

I cant believe that our eldest Grandchild is now 12! It only seems like yesterday that I held her in my arm for the first time. She has grown into such a beautiful, sweet, clever, fun young lady. She has always been my little mate and I really miss hugging her when I see her, but we did manage to have a little socially distanced party for her in our garden. We bought her lots of books as usual, as she is a real bookworm and here is a picture of her wearing the sweatshirt dress that we gave her. I even got my craft stuff out and made her a special card from one of my designs, with a matching insert. She loved it. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Puzzled? by Judith Henry

Its not often you get to see us in our homes. Unfortunately that is where I am most days except for my morning walk. What are you doing to keep busy. Seems strange to say that but one cant clean, nap and eat all day. I discovered a stack of puzzles in the attic. I have taken a break now and then to work on it until I can no longer find any. Then its my husbands turn. Whatever keeps you busy and safe is all I wish for you.

Count down on birthday cards. Simple, sweet and fun!

After ... by Carol Clarke

... the rain theres a beautiful Blue Sky! I know we Brits are always talking about the weather but there is a reason for it ... we so often go from one extreme to the other weatherwise! lol Just a few short weeks ago we had a mini heatwave and then it was back to being cold and very wet ... and now the sun & blue skies have returned one more! This wind turbine is in our local country park that I walk through a few times a week!

Splish Splash by Janice McFarlane

Finally some good weather, last week we had three thunderstorms in one week. It didnt just rain it hail stoned like nothing Ive ever seen. It was torrential and came down so fast it was starting to pool outside our front door. Thankfully though we have a slight ramp so it did drain away (phew!). Well what a change this week, beautiful sunshine, although a little too warm for me, especially slaving away over a hot computer. My two grandsons though have the right idea and have certainly made the most of the good weather, having a lot of fun in their pool.

Pink Ribbons by Vicki Avcin

I spent Wednesday morning at the station doing some work and planned on being home by midday. I got delayed and at 1.15 hubby rang to say daughter had rung and would be ringing back so come home. Got home and sure enough she rang within 10 mins. Phone dropped out twice and third time she said shed ring back because she was going into the car place to get something. While I was talking to her I was sitting out the front of the house and noticed a car pull up out the front of our place, didnt think anything of it because people stop all the time because its where they get phone reception. Hubby went out to go to the shop and I saw the car speed off, him in hot pursuit. He gets home from the shop and asks me did I see the pink ribbons on 2 trees at the front. No I didnt So off I go to look (couldnt see from the house) and get some pictures. Told hubby to ring the police because we there is a big problem with people tagging fences, gates, trees which mark a place for robberies and dogs getting stolen. While taking the photos I noticed a car parked down the road but couldnt see if it was the same car. As I got down to the house, Im still telling hubby to ring the police, daughter was on the phone and I was telling her what was going on. Being a cop, shes asking whats going on, and the same car pulled up out front again and we see someone start putting pink tape on more trees, and Im saying to daughter I have to go and ring the police. Shes saying no stay on the phone and tell her whats going on. Hubby snuck up the yard, hiding behind bushes and trees and when he got up to the front this person takes off down our fence line. Im well and truly panicking now, and raced inside to grab my phone to try and take a pic of whoever ran from hubby. Daughter is still telling me to stay on the phone (landline) and Im saying no I have to ring the police. Im hurling abuse at this person saying What do you think youre doing…… not so politely. As I got to the end of the house, this person came round the corner of the house……….. it was my son! Well I just went to jelly. I couldnt talk, gave him the phone and said talk to your sister while hes trying to hold me up to stop me from collapsing totally. With that the car turned and came down the driveway………with my daughter driving. The pair of them thought it was extremely funny, then I find out that when hubby chased them up the road, they pulled over and my son got out, so he then found out what was going on. Mind you he said he was about to rip into whoever got out of the car till he realised who it was, then went along with it all. When it all settled down they said theyd come up for the night as she had days off and as my son still cant drive after his accident a year ago, they decided to come up for the night which was awesome. All I can say is Karma is coming to get both of them!!
