Good luck for the Swans by Gail Collins

For the last 3 years the pair of swan on our lake have been unlucky . the first year the build a nest on the road side of the lake and the Female was killed ,whilst sitting on eggs, we were all so upset,, the second the year a new pair moved in and built in the same place / the cygnets hat and attracted a lot of attention., the next day all of the cygnets were gone, then last year the same thing , this time two survived from nine, this year they built on the island and hatched Seven . they are about two weeks old now and hopefully they will all survive this time. we are all so happy every day to see them still there.

I hope you like the two card designs i have chosen .

Koala-ty Mate by Janice McFarlane

I seem a little obsessed with koalas, ever since the awful bush fires and crocheting a number of them to raise funds. My latest finished project is the largest one so far and has a little bit of armature in it to keep its shape. Ive never used armature before, being new to needle felting so this was a bit fiddley, but once I had the main body done it wasnt too bad. The little fellow in question is a sleepy koala. I made him so he is not quite fully asleep with his eyes fully shut, just still peeking through. When I finished him, I sat him in an ornamental tree I have. I really enjoyed making him and pleased with how he turned out.

Looking at the bills by Tina Fitch

Dolly cant be left out of anything. She sits on Dads chair most of the time so she gets pampered all day long when hes here. When hes not thats her seat just like the photo I got the letters for hubby and placed them on his chair arm so when he came down from upstairs he would look and read them. Dolly got there first she did nothing but sniff them until hubby came down and moved themShe was most upset she didnt get the envelopes to Rip to sheads lol Take a look at my new mandala designs. Ahhh.... The Memories by Vicki Avcin

So what has everyone been doing while they are self isolating? I decided it was a good time to pull out boxes and boxes of old photos and scan them onto the computer. Not sure it was really a good idea as there was so many of them, but I made a start with all the old photos from my Fire Service days when I was at my first station for 10 years and they were the first batch to get done. It was a very nostalgic session doing these and looking back at incidents and training etc Id done over the years. Proud moments like getting Firefighter of the Year in 1999, memories of the demonstration for International Womens Day in 2001 when there was a simulation set up in the middle of King George Square of a car crash (much like the simulations they do even today for Senior school students who will have just obtained or soon to obtain their drivers licences). This photo was used in our training manuals for many years in the First Aid courses. Then there was the hot fire gas training we did at Lyntton training ground in 1998, which is now closed with the opening of the state of the art facility at Whyte Island. Photos of many many fires, one of the biggest I was the Incident Controller at was a fire that had homes and a dairy threatened (we didnt lose one structure!) in our community and jumped the main highway in 2007. So many many memories in the hundreds of photos from over 20 years ago now. I also look back at how things have changed so much in 27 years from equipment, trucks even our PPE to what they are now. So many memories…….. happy memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life, not just incidents etc but the many many wonderful people I have worked and trained with over the years.

Having to stay home with no eating out or takeaways has had some advantages. I got back into the kitchen and enjoyed making some tasty food again.
