The Knife Angel by Janyce Cotterill

Made from over 100,000 blades, The Knife Angel stands overlooking the banks of the River Tyne until the end of this month. This sculpture, which was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour, but also honours those who have lost their lives to knife crime, was created by sculptor Alfie Bradley. A knife amnesty, Save a Life Surrender Your Knife, produced over 100,000 blades, and from those, The Knife Angel was born. A local Charity, Samanthas Legacy, secured the display for the region. Samantha was just 19 years old when she lost her life to knife crime. Her mother, Alison, set up the charity to support families affected by knife crime and the family visit schools and young peoples groups to share their story. You cannot be anything but emotionally moved looking at this 27 ft high sculpture and the reasons why it was created. Im leaving you with my latest design sheet for the female photographer and another photography themed minikit. Thank you for your interest.

The Big Wet Has Arrived by Vicki Avcin

Even as late as last week, fire crews around Australia were battling mega bushfires. This week they are doing flood rescues and pumping out flood waters. West Australia got reprieve when TC Damien formed and is now bringing good rain to areasthat a month ago had fires. This week Queensland, NSW and Victoria has had a series of troughs that have brought storms and rain to nearly all the fires that have been going for weeks. What a difference a week or two can make! The country is looking green again instead of dead and brown but although places are getting torrential rain, believe it or not more is needed to break the drought. The cumulative seasonal summary for the fires from all states: Over 12 million hectares burnt, 3093 houses lost, 33 fatalities, 9 firefighter fatalities, 171 Canadian, 237 US, 284 NZ, 6344 interstate resources/personnel deployed. The final figure for Australian firefighter would be well over 20000. Staggering figures! We thank all the international personnel that came and assisted. The photos show a photo from the same position taken just 4 weeks apart and what crews are now doing……. Storm and flood cleanups! And its not over yet with TC Uesi going to cause havoc down the east coast over the next week.

Todays promotion are 2 more kits added to my Dog and Cat kits last week with Wild Animals and Australian Animals.

Teddy waving by Tina Fitch

From my recent trip to Miami I looked up and there it was. A teddy bear waving at me through the sunset clouds!I just could believe what I was seeing, we had to stop on the highway to get the photo, I thought we may get caught as you never know where the police are over there they seem to pop out from no where. The sun was just behind us so the teddy really stuck out. I love making out things from clouds. Like the aircraft I could sit and watch forever!!

A Walk with Nanny by Helen Howell

Sunday was a lovely day and my little granddaughter and me went for a walk around the Lovely George Tindale Garden situated in the Dandenongs. She was particularly interested in a huge tree that had been cut down and we had to stay a while, so that she could climb on it. She is so lucky to live in the hills, there are many delightful places to visit and walk around. Beautiful day, beautiful gardens and a delight to be with my granddaughter.

Beavering Away by Janice McFarlane

My grandson Alfie is involved in a lot of afterschool activities as well as personal interests, from Ice Hockey, Tennis, Football, Field Hockey etc. Just before Christmas he started going to Beavers. He had been asking to go for a while and my daughter was undecided because in a couple of months he will be old enough to join the Cubs and wasnt keen to buy a uniform he wouldnt get much wear out of before having to buy one for Cubs, in the end she decided to let him join. Alfie was thrilled and last week he was invested. He was over the moon. He already has a couple of badges sewn on his sweatshirt, and Im sure there will be more to come, whether he is a beaver or a cub.
