My Daughters new promotion... by Janice Shehan

My wonderful daughter, got a new promotion. New job and new country. The software company is located in Ireland, and she will be working from home, Pennsylvania, USA. However, she just got news that she will be traveling to the UK in the spring for meetings. She is very excited and I hope she can visit Stirling Castle in Scotland. We are direct decendents of Osbert Forsyth, one of the Governors of the castle, from many centuries ago.

Australia is Burning by Vicki Avcin

Last week I spoke about the fires in Australia and how it has been an early start to the fire season, well it hasnt got much better this week either. Two fires of concern closest to me are at Woodgate and a fire that began at Kilkivin but has moved through the areas of Widgie and Black Snake. Both of these fires are still burning a week down the track. Both fires are within and hour to an hour and a half from where we live. Weve had a crew at the Widgie fire for 5 days who are now back home safely. Last Friday I spent the day at Burrum Heads doing IC for the crews on standby because the fear was that the fire would jump the Burrum River or embers would be blown over from the Woodgate fire and start spot fires in the National Park. Fortunately it didnt. There was another strike team also on standby at Buxton to the west of Burrum Heads in case of it jumping or spot fires from the same Woodgate fire. It did jump at Buxton on the first day but fortunately crews were able to contain and extinguish that fire within a few hours. The weather has been heating up around the country with no signs of rain at all in the foreseeable future. Homes have been lost in both Queensland and NSW and these fires have decimated the wildlife population with whole koala habitats wiped out in NSW. Unfortunately there has been a huge loss of koalas in some areas with many many others severely burnt. We had 3mm of rain on two nights at home but nothing fell on the fires at all. By 10am the next day you would never have known it had rained so that tiny amount has had no effect in even lessening the fire risk.

This week my promoted designs are Christmas designs again…… one for the northern hemisphere Christmas and the other for the southern hemisphere.

The View From Here... by Clare Walker

Well, actually, this picture shows the view from one of the bridges in Lloyd Park in Walthamstow, on an autumn day a week or so ago. When hubby and I finally recovered from a seemingly never-ending flu, and before various friend and family dramas unfolded that have also needed our attention.Which is a roundabout way of saying...I`ve been unavoidably away, but now am back-thank you for your patience!

Here are two of my latest designs, on sale until Sunday, along with everything in my shop.

DONT YOU JUST LOVE NUMBER CANDLES by Wanda Lipski

That you can make say anything you want ... Yes they can LIE LIE LIE for you. Consequently we did a little rearranging on my cake... I spent part of the day at 11th November commemorations as every village has its monument to the dead (mostly from the 1st World War of course) and every village and town remembers their fallen veterans. This year they read out the list of all the soldiers who gave their lives for their country in overseas operations. Very moving. The evening we spent in a medieval chateau where we slept on the top floor of a corner tower ... and awoke to snow. Weve had a good 15-20 cms of snow this week, but fortunately it has now melted to be replaced by rain. What with an earthquake felt around 40 kms away, its been quite momentous here. Lets hope this week will be quieter ... Have a good one and ENJOY!

We have moved... Finally. by Lauren C. Waterworth

Seven months of agony, frantic phone calls, sleepless nights, tears, anger, boring our friends, family and co-workers with our frustration ... the house of our dreams is finally ours. We originally had our offer accepted on this charming detached property in May, but due to demanding buyers of our old property who messed us around on price for four months before the losing their own buyers our chain collapsed and they were unable to sell their own property again. We thought we were going to lose the house we had fallen in love with, then just over two months ago we got another buyer... and finally we have just spent our first night in our forever home

Welsh Rarebit by Janice McFarlane

My grandson Alfie has played ice hockey for about 3 years now. He plays for Oxford Junior Stars and quite often they play away to Swindon or Cardiff. Last weekend was an away match in Cardiff, which is a couple of hours drive from where they live. Sporting the teams new kit Alfie as always gets excited to play. They dont play a full match as they are all under 9s, but they are competitive and show good team spirit with great encouragement from their coach. The team played really well and Alfie won man of the match which he was thrilled about. Harry his younger brother is always there to cheer him on, although Im not sure he will follow in his big brothers footsteps (or ice skates) as he doesnt like the cold. Although with all the gear on that the players have to wear, Im sure he would find it very hot and sweaty. Well done Alfie, for achieving man of the match.

Billy Loves Imogen! by Sue Way

When we first got Billy and he was a tiny, bitey, crazy little puppy, Imogen was a little scared of him and would stay away from him or hide behind cushions. Now the story is completely different. They love each other so much. Billy follows her around and she loves talking to him and giving him cuddles. She is still a bit worried if he has a mad half-hour, but I dont blame her lol I love this picture of them, apart from poor Billys shaved tummy from all the tests he had when he was sick. Thank goodness he is back to his normal bouncy self again! Here are a couple of my best selling Vintage style Christmas designs. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Cruise by Sandie Burchell

My Husband, Dave, and I went on a Cruise to Mexico earlier this month to celebrate my Husbands retirement in mid August. I had been on a Cruise before (which I loved) but Dave had never wanted to go on one, so this was my retirement present to him! He really enjoyed it, although he was bored with the one day we had at Sea, so it has counted out the next one that I wanted to go on where there are 20 days at Sea! I am hoping that we find one that suits us both for the next time! The photograph, taken on the Cruise was on the second night and was themed the Elegance Evening.
