Summer ... by Carol Clarke

... Holidays!! Weve just returned a lovely time away on holiday at the seaside with our youngest grandchildren. We did all the good old fashioned seaside things plus a few more up to date things too! Lol Its so good that the youngsters still enjoy playing on the beach though and as you can see I had a lovely time paddling in the sea with them too! Lol We were all tired out every evening and slept well ... which is just as well as it was full on fun all day long!

New Species by Janice McFarlane

Ive wrote about my cat Bailey and his odd sleeping places before. Nothing is safe, if it has an opening Bailey will find it, if its soft and squishy Bailey will lie on it; nothing is safe at all. However, Baileys kingdom is my bedroom, with numerous places to lie. He even has his own glittery cat cave (a small table with a glittery sequin tablecloth over it) which he loves. But mostly Bailey loves the bed whether my husband and I are sleeping in it or not, Bailey hogs the whole bed. Its unbelievable given his size, my husband and me are relegated to the sides while he sleeps down the middle with all four paws splayed out. The other morning however, I came into the bedroom to find him curled up on my pillow, with a look as if to say Dont dare move me. It made me smile as I said to my husband that I thought we had a new species of cat a..... CAT-ER-PILLOW!!

Weekend with My Girls by Mary MacBean

Last weekend, my daughter and I took my 2 little great-granddaughters away for the weekend. We stayed in a waterfront lodge at Loch Lomond Holiday Park. The location was stunning with views across the loch to the mountains. Although the weather was mixed, we found lots to do. We had lunch one day with my sister and her husband who live in Glasgow. They hadnt seen the girls since they were babies. We had a boat trip on the loch which was wonderful. We visited Charles Rennie Mackintoshs Hill House at Helensburgh, built in the early 20th century and full of wonderful Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau furniture and features. As usual on our weekends away, we also took the girls to lots of play parks and soft play and visited several farm shop cafes for coffee and cake. The whole weekend was wonderful and I cant wait for the next time.

These are two of my latest Side Border Card mini kits. As with most of my designs, they are very simple to make up, but look great when finished.

A Relaxing Time by Sue Way

Last week we had a couple of days away on our touring caravan. We needed to relax and unwind and we certainly did. We had some lovely walks on the beautiful beach at Kessingland, Suffolk. Starting at our site which is right on the beach and walking along to Benacre, where a vast nature reserve touches the sea. We also had a little visit to Southwold and walked the pier and prom. We came home a day early as there were storms forecast, but we felt refreshed, so it was well worth it. Here are a couple of my latest unicorn designs. Thanks for looking x Sue x http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Flower Garden Blooms by Judith Henry

Cone flowers are now in full bloom. And notice who is enjoying them. Little bunny loves to hide and runs away from everything. It takes time to get this many buds to fill the area. But now we are enjoying the birds and butterflies that frequent the flowers. The sunflowers from last week had 4 blooms which are fading. Love this perennial garden.

Family together at last!!! by Joan King

This news story is one of my favourites. My daughter who was born in New Zealand moved to the UK some 16 years ago or thereabouts and within the last week she has come back home to New Zealand to live with her two grand daughters. I only saw them when they were tiny toddlers. It was a real joy to see them again although they didnt really remember me. The first photos is of the two girls one on each side of the picture with their 3 cousins who they have met for the first time and they got on like a house on fire..... Its wonderful. There is an age range from 4 to 13 but they all play together. On the bottom picture it is of my local grand daughter Brooklyn who was 4 a couple of days ago and she had a lovely party which we all attended plus the day before she went to see Disney on Ice as a treat. Now I have to get to know my daughter again and the two oldest grand daughters. Shame she will be moving away from us next week to live in another part of the country in the city rather than at the beach with us and her brother and family. Thats life though and at least she is much closer to us now.

The Festival continues. by Vicki Avcin

Now into the third week of the Hervey Bay Whale Festival with another two fantastic events.First up it was Kite Karnival on Saturday. Kites of all shapes and sizes graced the skies while on the ground there were kids rides, food stalls and entertainment. Everyone was encouraged to bring their own kite or get a free colour in kite. There were prizes for the best coloured -in kite too. Perfect day for kite flying and it really was a sight to behold. Then on Sunday there was the 21st Seafood Festival down in the gorgeous shady park near the marina. All the seafood on offer was from our local waters around the Fraser Coast. And to wash it down we saw some of the wonderful local beers and wines that the region has to offer. Plenty of taste testing, or if you preferred a more formal dining experience there was huge marquees where one could sit down for a meal. Some of the best chefs around did cooking demonstrations using our local seafood …… of course. There was also live entertainment throughout the day and rides for the kids. This day really is a highlight of the year for Hervey Bay. Everyone waits for it and crowds are always huge.

Portmeirion by Carol Dunne

I have not been to Portmeirion since I was about 10 years old and my Husband has never been there so to rectify this we went on an outing to see this famous place. Built on the North Wales coast in 1930s by an architect called Clough Williams-Ellis who used Italian villages as his inspiration to design this quirky place. It was used in the 1960s to film the TV series called The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan. It was packed with tourists from many different countries when we were there, as well as a wedding going on. The architecture is beautiful. A lovely place to visit.

What a Clock Tower... by Clare Walker

This week, we went to look at the newly-restored clock tower in Caledonian Park, London. It`s an amazing piece of Victorian architecture, now surrounded by ever-maturing woodland. Rather gruesomely (as I`m vegetarian) the site of the park used, apparently, to be a, beef lamb and mutton, cattle market for London in the 19th century. The site also has a plaque to commemorate the 1834 gathering in support of the Tolpuddle martyrs, transported to Australia for attempting to start one of the first trade unions. It`s good to know that a site with such a chequered past can still be a source of beautiful woodland and restored architecture.

Babies Babies Babies! by Judy Potts

Its the season of babies! Shortly after hearing my Step-Daughter is pregnant we attended a Gender reveal for her and found out she is having a baby girl! Then, on the day we were actually on our way to her baby shower I found out my sons girlfriend is pregnant! At the baby shower I was in baby glory holding all the babies. So I did a series of new baby cards!
