Music Festival! by Sue Way

Every year we go to the Brightlingsea Music Festival. It has a lovely atmosphere, where the whole community come together and have fun. This year we only had a little wander around with the girls. We listened to a couple of bands and ate noodles and ice cream. Then we looked around the stalls and the girls bought some pretty hippy bracelets for mummy. Here are a couple of my latest designs. Thanks for looking x Sue x http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Illuminated Street Parade by Vicki Avcin

Our Whale Festival continued this week with many activities but the two major events were on Saturday night with the Illuminated Street Parade and the Paddle out for the Whales on Sunday. The illuminated street parade is truly spectacular to see with all the floats and people lit up. To participate in the parade, everyone and every vehicle must display lights. The parade starts just after sunset and represents the annual whales migration and takes place along the esplanade, finishing up at Seafront Oval for a night of live entertainment, carnival rides, market stalls, food stalls and ending up with a fireworks display. This years theme was Having a Whale of a Time. Then Sunday morning the paddle out takes place. Anyone is welcome to paddle out on canoes or kayaks or paddle boards. This was originally started to protest against whaling but now that the whaling has ceased the tradition has continued on as we celebrate and encourage whale conservation. A minutes silence is observed and some people float flowers in the water. Ill share some more activities from the festival happening in the coming week in next weeks News.

Another two designs from my latest uploads for you to see this week.

Some new in my Flower garden by Judith Henry

In the winter time we enjoy watching the birds eat at our feeders. We have various different feeders with something for many birds. This year we did a mixture that obviously was the kind that will germinate. In the spring I had to pull lots of weeds. But some of them looked interesting so I let them grow. Obviously there were sunflower seeds. I now have four blossoms plus some unusual grasses. Just something else to design cards around.

The .... by Carol Clarke

Bug Hotel! Our two youngest grandchildren love love love finding and examining bugs of any sort so we had the idea of making a Bug Hotel for them. My hubby made it from scraps of wood we had got in the shed, I painted the signage and we furnished it with all the state of the art features any self respecting bug would like. With the exception of the Attic room .... sooo we all went to Clumber Park and collected all sorts of bark, twigs and damp/rotting wood and added them to the attic room. Theyve had a few prospective tenants take a look at the rooms already .... and were hopeful some will make it their permanent residence very soon! lol Below are 2 of my newest Easel Card designs ... Watch out for more ... Coming soon! lol

The Painted Ladies by Janyce Cotterill

They are here in the UK in their thousands, over 30,000 reported sightings over two days last week by The Butterfly Conservation Group. The Painted Lady butterfly is here! We have had an amazing year in our garden for butterflies - and the Painted Lady has been a lovely addition on our buddleia bushes and hebes, as you can see by the photos. I hope you have seen some in your garden or when you have been out and about. If you do spot them, or any other butterfly, do go to the www.bigbutterflycount.org and add the details of what you saw. Its easy to do. Its just a small thing to do for our environment. Thank you! Im leaving you with two of my latest mini kits - and yes they do have butterflies in the design! I hope you like them.

Countryfile Live by Janice McFarlane

My daughter and family live at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, a beautiful area with plenty of places to visit. Last week they were off to Blenheim Palace which isnt too far away, as the popular TV show Countryfile where hosting a live a show in the grounds. Whilst normally the entrance fee would be quite expensive, they managed to get complimentary tickets. There was lots of things to do, rides for the children, animals to see, and the Countryfile team where hosting live shows on a purpose built stage. Alfie had a go at welly wanging amongst other things, Harry became a spider momentarily as well as devouring an enormous icecream. They had fun building dens in a woodland area too. All in all they had a lovely day.
