Market Day by Joan King

On the last Saturday of each month we have our local arts and crafts market which we attend. It is mid winter so not as busy as in the summer but there will people through and items being sold. We did OK - hubby sold one painting but had 2 commissions and I sold a variety of my card supplies but no cards this month. That was a surprise. I have just started on designing Christmas cards and I am showcasing two of them in the newsletter.

Two of my latest Christmas designs. There are more to see on my homepage.

Ombre Sunset by Janice McFarlane

I always feel it a privilege to live where I do. A lovely village in Nottinghamshire, and a stones throw from Derbyshire. We seem to get the most amazing sunrises and sunsets, which I never experienced when I lived up North. Sometimes I feel I have to pinch myself because I live in such a beautiful area. For my husband and I the move from the North East where we both originate from was the best move we ever made, and we feel like we have lived here forever. Coming out of church one evening, in our neighbouring village, we were met with the tail end of the sunset. It was so pretty, with Ombre hues of lilac, pink, soft yellow and peachy tones, I had to snap a quick shot, because I thought it was so pretty.

A Bright Green Bug... by Clare Walker

I just had to share something a bit different this week. An *amazing* piece of street art thats popped up (by invitation!) in one of the streets near to us. This wonderful bright green shield bug (who is approximately 1000 times bigger than one of his real-life counterparts) is so incredibly lifelike, and complete with shadows. He really gives out the sense that he has escaped from the nearby bug hotel and is about to climb over the wall.(Finally but importantly, he is the work of ATM Street Art, to give proper and awe-struck credit where it`s due).

And if you need less insecty wildlife, this is part of my new Happy Bunny set, and on special offer until the end of the weekend.

Bubbles! by Sue Way

Today the girls played blowing bubbles for Billy. It always seems to be too hot or too windy, but today was perfect bubble blowing weather. Billy was so gentle with the girls, they all had great fun and I got some lovely pictures. Here are a couple of my latest designs. Thanks for looking x Sue x http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

And as luck would have it the first day was really hot and sunny and so we headed to a local park with a lovely adventure playground. After lots of fun climbing, swinging, sliding & jumping etc we had a picnic and of course ice creams before all heading home with two very tired little ones in the back of my car! lol Below are 2 of my newest floral designs ... Watch out for more ... Coming soon! lol

Blessing of the Fleet by Vicki Avcin

Last Saturday saw the Blessing of the Fleet for the whale watch boats here in Hervey Bay. Hervey Bay is THE place to be and home of the humpback whales in Australia. The humpbacks, and occasionally a couple of other species, make Hervey Bay their home for a couple of weeks as they travel back south. Each year hundreds travel up the east coast to the warm northern waters to calve and then head back, stopping in our beautiful waters to rest and play. So Hervey Bay celebrates its whale watch season (end July to end October) with a month of activities. It all begins with the Blessing of the Fleet. All boats doing the whale watching tours come to a pontoon in the harbour and a member of the clergy (from all denominations) bless each boat as they pull along side, they get blessed by one clergyman, then do a 360 turn and head off as the next boat comes in. Each blessing is custom to the boat being blessed. Then once all the formalities are done with, a fireworks display kicks of the party with street stalls, cafes/street food vendors and live music in the vicinity. Its a wonderful night and sets the stage for many more activities each week.

IN COMMEMORATION OF 7 FALLEN AIRMEN by Wanda Lipski

Sunday, St Martin sur Oreuse ... 1944 and A Lancaster returning from a bombing raid of Stuttgart was shot down over this commune south of Paris and a 4 and a half hour drive from our home. The ceremony included a hommage to a French resistance fighter, a ceremony at the cemetery where the 7 airmen are buried and the unveiling of a new memorial stone. The RAFA (Royal Air Force Association (left on photo) and Royal British Legion were present as were a WRAF Captain and a Wing Commander. Members of the families were also present so it was a rather emotional day. The son of one of the airmen said he was glad that his fathers final resting place was watched over by friends he had never known .... Made you proud to be British !

the jurassic coast by Anne Lever

One of the things my son has to do for homework during the school holidays, is take 200 photos of the natural form, basically anything not man made. We decided to go down to the jurassic coast, to a lovely stoney beach called Kilve. It is known for its rugged landscape, pebbles, rock pools and....fossils. We didnt manage to find any big fossils that day, but we did find these tiny ones. My son ended up taking 130 photos, and despite it being very windy, we had a lovely day.
