Half term treat by Carol Dunne

It was half term for my grandchildren last week so we drove up to Llandudno in North Wales. The children love it up there, so much to see and do. We had a pub lunch and then a ride up the Great Orme in an old Victorian tram. This is pulled up the mountainside by cables underneath. Half way up we got off to explore the copper mines which are thousands of years old. The children were fascinated. We were all worn out at the end of the day but it was very enjoyable.

For those crafters who want to start early with next years calendars, here are two tent fold desk calendars.

Proud mum moment by Sue Way

As some of you may know my son Tony is an actor. He has appeared in a few films and comedy shows etc. Last weekend he travelled up to Manchester where he had been asked to present an award at The British Soap Awards. He and his co-star, in the new Ricky Gervais series After Life, gave out the award for best comedy character in a soap. I was so nervous for him, as it was live in front of millions of people, but I neednt have been, as he was brilliant. I am so proud of him and of course both my children. I managed to get a picture of him on screen looking very smart. Here are some of my latest designs, thanks for looking x Sue x http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Bali by Joan King

My son and daughter in law are having their first overseas holiday without their 3 children. They have gone to Bali for 8 nights. I have been in awe of a lot of their photographs as it brings back some happy memories of my trip their many years ago but these two have enough energy for a truckload of people!!! They have been cycling in the mountains and doing things most people dont get a chance to see plus a lot of other tourists things including riding elephants, yoga, massage, shopping etc plus today they were off to Ubud. I think there have been a few bouts of hangovers plus Deli Beli but I suspect in the mid forties you are never too old for that especially if you have your first full week without young children!!! This is a photo of them on one of their day trips. They certainly look the part.

Placid Lassie! Daks over Normandy by Tina Fitch

Here we have one of the Dakotas that did the flypast for the D-Day75th Anniversary. I went to Duxford on Tuesday to witness the flypast trial run... What a beautiful display it was too.. here was just one of the Dakotas taking part Placid Lassie, She was built in 1943 in Long Beach, California by the Douglas Aircraft Company as a C-47. She was Army Air Force order number AC-20669 .I was very privileged to see all that were to attend the Daks over Normandy flypast in honor of the D-Day invasion to honor the veterans and Memory of fallen troops that gave their lives so we could have our freedom!Always remember they gave their todays for us to have our tomorrows ..

This ... by Carol Clarke

... week it was half term here in Nottinghamshire and so we took our youngest 2 grandchildren out to Clumber Park for the day, Luckily it was a lovely warm sunny day so we packed a picnic and set off. First they wanted to go to the woods and find some trees to climb. Luckily Clumber Park has many such trees and they spent a happy couple of hours climbing them! Next followed a medlky of sports on the sports field with 7 year old Olivias favourite being skipping ... My arm was killing me after an hour of turning the rope .... Grandad took a turn but Olivia soon gave the rope back to me pronouncing Grandad as being rubbish at turning it! lol Then followed with archery, football, cricket, tennis, egg and spoon race, playing in the woodland park etc etc plus our picnic and of course an ice cream too we were all tired out and headed back home ... Mind you I think the grandchildren had lots more energy whilst we were shattered! lol Below are 2 of my retty Flowers & Butterfly Diagonal Rubber Band Pop Up Box Card Kits ... there are lots more to choose from! lol

Fun at the Farm by Janice McFarlane

My Daughter and Son in Law took Harry and Alfie my two grandchildren to a Farm near Reading at the weekend. It was part of Harrys second birthday celebration. Harry always likes to get involved, although I dont think he was too sure about petting the rabbit, but he did like the photo opportunity on the tractor with Alfie and having a go at milking a large fibre class cow (lol). To finish off Alfie had great fun building a den in a wooded area. Great fun for them all.

In their safe hands by Vicki Avcin

Another great training night with the Emergency Service Cadets. This week our cadets learnt about the different stretchers used in Rescue and the purpose of each one, where and under what circumstances they would be used and most importantly how to load a patient and safely secure the patient for transportation. As well as learning these skills our cadets are getting ready to participate in the upcoming Cadet games which will be held in Brisbane in July. The cadets will have to go through a variety of skills and drills which include 6 Squad Challenges and 6 Mixed Team Challenges. The events are more about teamwork, innovative thinking, camaraderie, respect and mutual appreciation of all emergency services and defence services. (We have army and navy cadets). As much as the cadets hone their skills on things like communications, first aid (inc CPR and AEDs), map reading, knots, incident control, camp craft (lighting a fire), land search strategies, hand eye coordination, and their marching skills, it is all about teamwork. The cadets did a great job and delivered the patient safely and without incident around obstacles to the destination.

Back at the Beach by Gillian Hutchinson

Its been lovely to get back to the beach much more now that the weather is much better. We do still visit it throughout winter, but now we dont need so many layers of clothes to keep warm! I have to say that it really is Maks favorite place to be. He loves nothing more than to swim. Now that we are in June, its time for those Christmas designs to be made. I have 2 of my Christmas themed Bumper kits to showcase today. Happy Crafting :)
