Pirates in the Bay by Vicki Avcin

The ship Notorious is back in Hervey Bay and she always draws a lot of interest. Moored at the Boat Clubs dock, she is paying a visit for a couple of weeks. Notorious, was researched, designed and constructed single-handedly by amateur boat builder Graeme Wylie at Bushfield, Victoria, Australia. Launched in 2011.She is a full-size, wooden, sailing re-creation of a Portuguese caravel. Constructed from Monterey Cypress saved from the bonfires on south-west Victorian farms, her length is 17.5m, Beam 5.5m with a Draught of 2.1m. Her ballast is 12 tonnes of bluestone with a displacement of 58 tonnes. The Lateen Rig, borrowed from the Arab Dhow, improved windward sailing and is more easily handled by a small crew. Steered by an upright tiller extension called a Whipstaff as steering wheels had not been invented at that time. These ships were used by European explorers to discover a route to plunder the riches of the east. Caravels were favoured by pirates for their speed agility and large holds. She is currently the only sailing caravel in the Southern Hemisphere. One would wonder looking at her how she floats let alone handles in big seas but the crew assure me that she handles very well. She always creates plenty of excitement when shes in town…..well the Bay.

This weeks promoted items are a set of Floral Tags, perfect for Birthdays or Mothers Day with plenty of room for your greeting and one of my floral kits that comes with several sentiments for the front. Check out all the designs in the collection.

Suns Out! by Gillian Hutchinson

Finally, we have had some sun. The woods where we walk have some lovely snowdrops along the path. Its been nice to see everything start to grow again. Mak has been having a ball, but still manages to find that muddy puddle or ditch along the way. Looking forward to walking in summer without having to shower him every time we get home.

Up close and personal by Tina Fitch

Just look at the close up of the F15 Strike Eagle, It was flexing over Nellis AFB, on the afternoon of 18th March, I just couldnt believe how close I go into the cockpit of that aircraft, Considering it was going at the rate of knots I am very surprised I caught it that close. They launched 4 at a time to do their sorties then returned and launched again, This went on for 4 days whilst we were there.. Lots more to show you but as I have just returned home I havent really had time to sort out all of the lovely shots I took..https://www.craftsuprint.com/tina-fitch/

Iceland Photos by Judith Henry

Just sharing some more Iceland Photos. It is such a diverse country. Important in all the geological wonders. This area reminded me of visiting Yellowstone and watching the paint pots and old faithful erupt. If you havent travels to this area I would strongly recommend the trip. The waterfalls, rivers and historical stories are wonderful.

New for march are the easy to stack outline cards.

1/2 Marathon Man!! by Carol Clarke

Last weekend we were drafted in to take care of our youngest grandchildren whilst our youngest son Paul ran his 1st half marathon at Retford in Nottinghamshire. The day dawned brightly .... too brightly I found when I opened the curtains as wed had snow overnight and our area was covered in the white fluffy stuff! Now I like the snow but hate driving in it so this wasnt good! However it soon turned out that it was very wet mushy snow and although our main roads were still quite white they were at least passable with care! Its lucky we did make it as out of over 1300 runners Paul finished in 8th with a time of 1 hr 14 mins 34 seconds ... just 3 minutes behind the winner!! Below are 2 of my NEW Diddy Dino Easter Pop Up Box Cards ... Watch out for more coming soon!

Very long walk by Joan King

My daughter in law had to take her eldest son on a school trip into the forest today. It was a hot day so hopefully she got some shade along the way. You walk up a track to the summit about 645 metres high and the round trip they say is about 2 hours. The Otanewainuku Conservation area is 1200 hectares of native virgin forest largely unmodified by human activities. It offers a glimpse into the majestic forests which once covered this land, where giant rimu pierce the skyline and inquisitive North Island robins greet visitors. She took along her youngest girl Brooklyn who is 3.5 years old and she walked all the way up to the top on her own and chatted away to all the children in his class and back down again. I doubt she knew she what she was actually doing but they all loved it but very tired now at the end of the day. A photo of Brooklyn and one with some of her brothers classmates is shown. Her brother is on the left. I am now out of my cast but although I made good progress there for about a week it seems to have taken a turn backwards. I can only hope that it will change and I make more progress.

Great Achievement by Janice McFarlane

I am so proud of Alfie for this achievement award from his school at RAF Benson. Despite struggling for the last four months with his daddy being out in Afghanistan and in the last couple of weeks being extremely poorly with a virus he has tried so hard at school. So his certificate was for working extremely hard at all his work and doing a brilliant poem in his English lesson. I dont think people realise how deployment to foreign countries can affect young children, of our military servicemen and women especially when being away over holidays like Christmas. So well done Alfie, I am so proud of you.

Dog TV by Sue Way

Today I remembered how Alfie liked to watch Dog TV. So I thought I would see if Billy liked it too. He is very interested in the TV, especially if there are horses on. I found a clip on YouTube and put my iPad in front of him. He loved it and sat and watched it intently for about 10 minutes! He looked so sweet tipping his head as he watched. Luckily I managed to get a few video clips and pictures of him. He is so sweet. Here are a couple of my latest designs. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Why is it? by Carol Dunne

Why is it that when you come back from a holiday within a week or two it is like it never happened and you have to look back through your photos to remind yourself what you did. This photo is from a cruise I went on a couple of weeks ago. What a wonderful time but it goes so quickly. This was taken on The island of Roatan just of the coast of Honduras- beautiful place with lovely walks through the trees and over a river.
