Merry and Bright ! by Janyce Cotterill

When I saw this gigantic, brightly lit deer recently I thought how massive it must look to a small child. It looked huge enough even to me! It led me onto think that some child will remember seeing that deer for many years to come. It will become one of their childhood Christmas memories Im sure. We all have them dont we? Recollections of our childhood Christmases. The family traditions that we relive year upon year. Those memories become part of who we are and part of the woven fabric of our festive season. For children, Christmas should always be Merry and Bright. It is part of the magic. So after all the celebrations are over we of course turn into the New Year, 2019 - I wonder what it will bring? Good things for all I hope. You can jot down your memories and appointments on one of these new calendars. I hope you find them useful. Thank you for your interest.

FIRST EVER DEMONSTRATION AGED 61 by Wanda Lipski

Particularly back in the UK you may have heard that the man in the street has been protesting the planned hike in taxes on petrol and diesel as a new year present for us lucky frogs. Should you need your car for work ( Im 60 kms from my workplace and work part-time, often for only two hours at a time and therefore very representative of the average protester ...) or live in the countryside where you often have to go to another village just to see a doctor then more taxes on what is a lifeline product is just TOO MUCH. People have spontaneously been donning the yellow visibility vests that are compulsory in our cars and gathering together to show their disapproval of government plans. As you can see we went with the dog to spend an hour and show our solidarity in the middle of a roundabout ... very noisy as motorists do a lot of horn honking to show their support. Good atmosphere. The dog also had yellow around her although the photo doesnt really show this. So I need all your support if I am to pay the NEW fuel tax (from 62 to 65% tax on a litre. Have a good week and ENJOY these latest of my designs.

The Cat Controller by Janice McFarlane

My ever lovable Bailey gets up to all sorts of mischief throughout the day. If its not one thing its another, between 9pm and 11pm he gets the zoomies. This is where for about half an hour or so he charges from one end of the bungalow to another. Not as straight forward as you might think; the charge goes around the back of the sofa, onto the desk, into the bedroom around the window sill back into the living room around the sofa, a leap onto the back of the computer chair with such force he knocks it over. Anything and everything in his path whilst he is having this mad half our goes flying. Once he has finished he strolls to the sofa to curl up for a nap. On this occasion he thought it more comfortable to rest his head on the TV remote control, to which we had to eventually gently coax it out from underneath him so we could change the channel. That was an operation in itself and he certainly wasnt suited. He certainly is king of the castle and the cat controller.

Two beautiful exploding box kits, with a lovely surprise in each one. Sure to please any recipient.

Salt Lakes and Mountains by Suzi Cooper

With Allens sister & brother in law visiting we decided to take them on the tourist train to see the salt lakes near us at Torrevieja. It was a lovely sunny morning and the trip was very informative, hearing that the collection of salt in the area dates back to Roman times. Amazing what the Romans started. It was interesting to see the salt mountains close up & we were surprised because they looked as though they had been sprinkled with glitter.Following the trip we had lunch out (a common occurrence for our days in Spain) at a restaurant on the beach. Our visitors return home to chilly UK tomorrow and are not looking forward to the change in temperature.

Billy Come! by Sue Way

I have been working hard on Billys recall, as young pups are so easily distracted and at his age he is trying to push the boundaries to see what he can get away with. I find a bag full of cheesy treats is the key to getting his attention. It doesnt always work, especially if he wants to play with another dog, but we are getting there. Even though the weather has been awful this week, with strong winds and lots of rain, we have still been going to the beach every morning for his run. We had a great time the other morning playing ball and practising his recall and I got this great action shot of him coming back to me over the grassy sandbanks. I have been adding lots of Christmas designs this week and as today is the last day of my SALE grab a bargain quick! http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

My Grandson by Sandie Burchell

My Grandson, Bryn, is now just over 4 months old. He sits up by himself, rolls over and stands holding on to the furniture. He sings to Disney movies and talks to me on Facetime when I call! The photo shows him at Church a couple of weeks ago. My Daughter said that he slept through the service and woke up towards the end and was giggling and smiling at everyone. He really enjoyed the attention he was getting! This is the Church where he is going to be Christened in January. I am really excited to be going to the UK for that! I cant wait to hold him again!

These are 2 of my latest Christmas Designs. It is the last day of my 20% off everything in my store, so the perfect time to empty your wishlists! https://www.craftsuprint.com/sandie-burchell/ Thank you for looking! x

My .... by Carol Clarke

... early Morning Walk Partners!! For a few years now Ive been starting my working days with a 2 to 3 mile walk. Im lucky enough to have open countryside all around where I live with cows who trim the bushes at the bottom of my garden so there are lots of lovely walks straight from my front door. One of the areas I walk though is used as grazing for a flock of black sheep and normally they scatter as soon as they see me. But this week they stood their ground and then this brave handsome fella decided to come and check me out! He came right up to me and after sniffing my hand allowed me to stroke him. The funniest part though was when I carried on walking and they all followed me .... every time I turned around there was a long line of sheep following me ... I felt like and odd sort of Pied Piper. They have obviously realised I am no threat to them now as they come to check me out most days when I walk there! lol Below are 2 of my NEWEST Christmas Shadow Box Cards ... Watch out for more coming soon!

Gentle walk on the beach by Joan King

It was a hot day and I felt a nice walk on the beach would be in order. I paddled in the water and looked at those skies and saw that it was quietly building up to a summer storm. It was around 25 degrees and I was the only person on the beach until suddenly In the distance I saw something and as they got closer I realised it was 3 people on horseback. Not something one sees very often on the beach and they were cantering along the waters edge. I was able to get a photograph before they went past. It made my day. I never got wet and the storm never really eventuated until later that night.

Catastrophic Fire Weather by Vicki Avcin

My home state of Queensland is experiencing something it has never had before…. Catastrophic fire weather. Although its our fire season, and weve had a lot of big fires in past years, this year has been the worst ever. We have never had regions that have been put as Catastropic on our Fire Danger Rating. It is the highest category and has only ever been seen in southern states previously. The whole east coast is burning with over 130 large fires listed at the moment. We see things like this overseas and down south but never here.A fire that started between Bundaberg and Gladstone has been burning for days and has seen many communities impacted and an emergency declaration declared meaning people have been ordered from their homes. These people have been in emergency accommodation for days and still cannot get back into their homes. Reports have said there are at least 5 homes destroyed but the official number hasnt yet been given. Our NSW counterparts sent up 100 firefighters on Tuesday, with NSW also sending up their big water bombers. A 737 arrived also on Wednesday and is based in Rockhampton. Yesterday a second large plane arrived also. Qld often sends crews down south, so now they are happy to repay the favour and help out. These big water bombers are working alongside our fixed wing and helicopters. Other states have also sent firefighters to assist. Mate helping mate! Then yesterday to the west of Rockhampton another fire started with 8000 people evacuated from Gracemere and also a fire at Finch Hatton just out of Mackay where again the whole town was evacuated. Weve had hot days that have smashed many records since records started being kept in most places and that along with the strong winds and the fuel loadings have created fire weather the likes of which we have never seen here before. Today a huge fire broke out at Tinnenbar just south of where I live where again evacuations were put in place. I was due to go and do a night shift on this fire tonight (Thursday) but I have got myself a good dose of bronchitis and laryngitis, so going into a very smoky environment is not a wise thing to do. We have a few more days of this bad (fire) weather to go yet and still have many fires to contain before the mopping up begins. Focus at this time is to save life and property as at the moment some of the fires simply cannot be stopped. So if you are looking for the hottest place to be, Im pretty sure its Queensland at the moment!

Tea Bag Art by Helen Sunter

I hate throwing anything away that I think I might be able to recycle or reuse in some way. Especially if it might be used for a creative purpose, so whilst most people would consider tea bags to be beyond any use other than making a cup of tea I leave them to dry, empty the tea out and iron them flat. Now they can be used for creating beautiful works of art. You can paint them, draw on them with coloured pencils, felt tips and markers, or even embroider them and add beads and sequins. I find inspiration in all kinds of areas, from architecture to portraits, but I find myself drawn mostly to nature, and especially flowers. This particular piece used Derwent Inktense Pencils which are an innovative product. They are very much like watercolour pencils in that you add water to your drawing resulting in a watercolour paint effect, but the core of inktense pencils are ink. Activating with water results in intense colour, as the name suggests and when the painting is dry the colour is fixed allowing for more layers on top which wont ruin the colours underneath.I mounted and framed this lovely field of poppies and cornflowers and gave it to a friend. You can find more of my art on my Facebook page Helen Saunders Artist

Simple log reindeers by Taina Kankare

Christmas is fast approaching, and people make preparations for the festive season with all kinds of decorations. My brother made our parents two log reindeers to be placed in their front garden. And what a cheer they brought! Even though the reindeers are of very schematic make, they do have pretty eyes and a snout. Unfortunately neither of these is Rudolph, but anyway, our parents appreciated the gift. So, here is a tip for all handy crafters. You can bring some Christmas joy to your family and friends by making similar kinds of creatures for the gardens.
