Fred Comes to Stay by Helen Howell

Fred has now been living with us for the past 9 days. Who is Fred you may ask? Fred is my Sons Birman Cat and we are looking after him in our own home will his real family is on holiday. He is a beautiful cat to look at, and for anyone who doesnt know what a Birman looks like, they have long silky coats of white fur with accents of chocolate colour on the ears, tail and face. When Fred arrived he spent the first day hiding under the bed in the spare room and no amount of coaxing could get him out. Everything was far too strange for him. By the second day he came out and had his tea and settled down on the bed - an improvement. 9 days later however, he now spends every evening on my lap and complains if I am not ready to sit down when he is. I take him out every day on his harness for a walk around the garden, but its not his territory and so he is always eager to get back inside. Fred will be returning to his own home this Saturday and in a way I shall miss him for our evening cuddle.

Shes Here... by Janice Shehan

Finally my new precious kitten has arrived. She traveled 500+ miles to me, accompanied by her breeders. She is adapting very well here and she finds her way around to the important areas - litter box, food and water. Of course I have tons of play toys for her.She is a Ragdoll breed kitten and these babies are just like puppies, they follow you around and are great companions. Ive named her Fanci because she is just gorgeous!

I know it early for Christmas, but wanted to use these graphics, they are so cute!!

The Garden Fairy by Gillian Hutchinson

We have finally got our garden finished. As soon as the weather picked up we managed to get all the grass seed down and get a lovely mix of plants along the fence. Our neighbour very kindly made us two gorgeous flowers bags again with petunias. This is a picture from a few weeks ago, but they are so many more now and such beautiful colours. My Dad knows how much I love fairies so sent a little one down where I found the perfect home for her in the flowers.

Two of my garden themed mini kits.

Counting down the days! by Sue Way

So this time next week we will have our new baby boy, our puppy Billy Bazinga! Our house and garden are starting to look like a fortress where we have puppy proofed it as best we can. His bed and crate are ready, with a soft lavender scented bunny in it. We have his food, bowls and a smart collar and lead. We just need the puppy!!!! We are getting so excited. Luckily our lovely breeder keeps us updated with pics and news. The other day we received a text message from Billy himself which said Hello Mummy and Daddy so today I have been digging in the garden, can you tell?? ... Jan couldnt believe her eyes so I did my best butter wouldnt melt look I think he will have us wrapped around his paw in no time. This week I have added lots of Sweet Little Ladies in A5 size. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Clematis by Carol Dunne

My husband and I are both keen gardeners so we were quite upset when last year our favourite clematis died so we had to put a new one in. We were amazed when it flowered this year. As you can see not only are there loads of them, they are like dahlias. I have never seen such big clematis or so many on one plant.

These new Christmas gift boxes are also available in a smaller size and a taller size.

Birthday Girl by Carol Clarke

This week we were celebrating my oldest Granddaughter Ninas 20th birthday. The whole family got together and practically took over the restaurant ... well it really was just one part of it! lol Nina is halfway through her Modern Apprenticeship at The Queens Medical Hospital but her degree course is run by the University of Nottingham. So she will have a degree whilst having been paid and she wont have any student debts either. Even better her boyfriend (whom she has been dating since school) is just starting his degree course at the Uni too.

On th Erie Canal by Judith Henry

Have you ever been on the Erie Canal? We vacation on a river boat while our friends road their bikes along the canal. Sleeping like camping in small quarters, was a challenge. Move at 5 mph was frustrating. But the memories was worth the ride. We saw many birds and animals. Met new people at each stop was rewarding. Eating the toughest steak in a little town was unforgettable. Will we try is again and go west on the canal. Probably not. Cheers with wine was the best though.

What World Cup?? by Janice McFarlane

I am not a fan of football (sorry football fans), although if I was to be asked if I supported a football team I would have to say Newcastle United but that is purely because I am from there originally and have to show some Geordie support. I also did watch some world cup football many years ago (the one where Gazza cried) but other than that its not for me (I like tennis). I hate it when the whole of TV scheduling on the Beeb and ITV is thrown into disarray in favour of the world cup. Having said that, the latest pictures from my daughter of Harry and Alfie having some fun playing a bit of football after school at the park made me smile. Especially Harry dressed in his England T-Shirt. He has to be the cutest England supporter, although I dont think he has quite grasped the no hands rule when getting the ball. Role on Wimbledon, thats what I say!!

Some Seriously Cute Cygnets... by Clare Walker

Finsbury Park has been in the news for its sad anniversary this week. But what a lot of people don`t realise is that there really is still a huge park there (which isnt always the case with areas of London named Park). And better yet, theres a gorgeous lake in that park as well.It was at the quieter end of this lake that we spotted an adult swan (whose partner was busy patrolling the lake for danger) and these five gorgeously cute cygnets. Usually theyd be grown and flown by now: it must be the very late spring that`s led them still to be there. Am also pleased to report that the green stuff in the picture is neither algae nor sludge, but a kind of pond weed, which the cygnets appeared to be nibbling. Maybe even cygnets get encouraged to eat their greens...

Foxy! by Tina Fitch

Just look at his beautiful face.. This is what greeted me having my coffee in the garden today.. He was basking in the sun on a ledge just over my back fence.. They have a den at the bottom of my garden and they also have pups now too..This one I had watched for ages and he was watching me too whilst I sipped on my coffee..The wild life is just so prolific at the moment.. Behind my garden is the railway and there is a small mound full of trees along the bank and this is what we have daily..I am so lucky..

Maddiva by Vicki Avcin

Last Monday night a car pulled up outside our place around 9pm. I saw them stop, turn around and shine their headlights into our gateway, turn around again, and then slowly drive away. Wondered what was going on but as theyd left didnt think anything of it. A lot of cars pull up out the front as its the one place people can get mobile phone coverage so put it down to that. On Tuesday morning about 8am, the neighbour rang and told us there was a carpet snake in our yard near the water meter as hed seen it when going to work. So hubby went for a walk up the front yard to take a look around. About 15 feet from the water meter he found a big carpet snake curled up in the yard. It then occurred to us that possibly it had been run over on the road and that is what the car was looking at. (Whether they had run over it or not we dont know but possibly they had and it had slithered off into our yard and they had been looking for it). We couldnt see any obvious injury to it but then neither of us was going to go and take a closer look. I came down to the house and rang our local wildlife rescue to get someone out to pick it up and look at it or take it to the vet. While we waited there were magpies and a couple of hawks hanging round so we decided…….well I decided …….that hubby should try and get it into a bag and bring it down to the house for safety till the wildlife carers came. When they arrived, they got it out of the bag, decided it was a she and looked closer at it. It had an injured eye and signs of blood on the body, so definitely been hit/run over. They asked us to name it as it helps identify the animals if people want to follow up on how they are. As the snake was hit in our street, we called her Maddiva (street name but different spelling) and they took her off to the vet to be checked out. I havent rung to find out how shes doing yet but will later today. She was a carpet snake which arent venomous but they can bite, although this girl was pretty placid. I do hope shell be OK as much as I dont like snakes.
