Sunrise by Gillian Hutchinson

Now that summer has finally arrived it has been so lovely to wake up, sit out with a coffee and watch some of the gorgeous sunrises. Its made a change from dull, damp or very wet mornings with the dogs just getting covered from head to toe in mud! Our walks are back to being very enjoyable and it has been good to put the wellies away for another few months.

Steps Bridge...Has No Steps at All... by Clare Walker

Hi everyone...Thought would post this picture I took on an idyllic walk in a Dartmoor valley the other week. I`d said could we enjoy `woods and a river,` to our in-laws...And gosh, did Steps Bridge deliver. As am not the best with lots of steps, the name gave me pause...But it turns out that it`s a peaceful and flat river path, that feels as if it`s from another time and another world. Took this shot whilst looking (to no avail, sadly) for kingfishers. Ah well...We`ll just have to go again to see if they can spot them...

Nature of a different sort features as ever in two of my newest items-hope you like them...

Monster from the Deep by Vicki Avcin

Our water tank was being overrun by our Honeysuckle vine/bush that grows beside it. We thought it was doing so well because of all the rain weve had as it was the biggest its ever been, covering all the sides of the tank and thickly over the top. So hubby got in and pruned it all back, and last weekend got up to sweep all the leaves off the top. When we pruned it, I actually thought hed been a bit harsh with it and was wondering if it would ever grow back. Well within two days it was shooting all over the place. We knew there were some thick stems up on top but thought it was just left over from what hed pruned and hadnt got off the top. So up we went to clean it off. Hubby went to pull the larger of the stems and it wouldnt move. So out with the crowbars to pry off the inspection plate…….. what we found we definitely werent expecting!!! Roots……… lots and lots of roots! No wonder it was growing so well! The photos say it all……… we pulled out this monster of a root system. Hubby is just on 6ft tall and it was taller than he was. Needless to say the honeysuckle will be getting pruned regularly now and it wont be allowed to grow over the tank. Luckily we only use the tank water on the gardens and to hose down the verandah as after finding that monster it definitely isnt able to be used for anything else.

The items Im promoting today are 2 of my designs perfect for the males in your life.

Child Labour! by Sue Way

On Sunday I looked after our granddaughters Jessica and Imogen and our grand-pup Baxter. We were all feeling a bit lazy so sat around playing games on iPads for a while, but then Imogen and I started to get restless. So we left Jess playing and did a few jobs. She loved being helpful and having all my attention. She helped me feed the birds, pouring the seed into the feeder and throwing out an apple for the blackbirds. Then we walked to the end of the road to post a letter. She was still bored, so I let her use my little cordless vacuum cleaner. You can see from the picture how much she enjoyed that. This week I have made added a new series of A5 toppers, with decoupage called Window Girls http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Mackinac Island mothers day week end by Judith Henry

My daughter and I took a 5 day week end trip and stayed at the Grand hotel. It was a Cinderella experiences. Wonderful food, beautiful room, and great service. We took a horse drawn trolley ride around the island, saw the oldest revolutionary war fort and shopped. The best part was being with my daughter and recalling childhood stories. Our husbands had a good visit and watched the kids at home. They were glad to see us when we returned.

Miss Mouse by Carol Dunne

It is amazing what you can make if you look through your craft stash. I came across an old pattern for a stuffed mouse I had not used since my daughters were small. I often used to make them as presents for my daughters friends for birthday presents etc. They were always delighted to receive them as they were all dressed individually so no-one had one the same. Then I tackled my fabric store. Now I have two fully clothed mice without me spending any more money. I might put them in a craft sale but if they dont sell I will put them away until Christmas for my grand daughter.

Funky Ducks at the Roman Lakes by Rachael Dunne

Last weekend we went for a walk to the Roman Lakes in Marple. Despite the name, the lakes werent created by the Romans at all, they were built to power a mill which was destroyed by fire in the late 1800s. The lakes are now all that is left behind and its a really nice place to go on a sunny day. There is a cafe and a dancehall there where they hold tea dances. The lake is home to the usual ducks and geese you would expect to find in this part of the UK but they also now have some Indian Runner Ducks, which are really funny to watch, and some black ducks, Im not sure what they are but theyre really quite beautiful. Well worth going to see if youre in the area.
