Decadent and Delicious! by Janice Shehan

For a recent church event, I made heavenly chocolate cupcakes with Baileys Irish Cream (just the extract :) buttercream icing. Wow everyone loved them! I will probably make them again today for tomorrows womens pool party.They were very moist and the aroma filled the house, the only thing, is that I eat too many every time I bake :)Thanks for looking!

Cancelled holiday by Carol Dunne

Last week I should have been in Valencia (Spain) but unfortunately a few days before we were to go my husband ended up in Accident and Emergency with suspected appendicitis. The doctors decided it wasnt appendicitis but he was very uncomfortable for a few days and still is not quite right but it meant our holiday insurance would not cover us but best not to go out of the country anyway. After a few days he felt Ok and was a bit miffed that he wasnt in Spain. So we booked a few days in Staithes on the Yorkshire coast. We had a few relaxing days away from home. He is feeling a lot better now, must have been a bug. We can always go to Valencia again another time.

Time to get away by Sue Way

Last week, after some heartbreaking news, hubby and I decided to get away from it all in our caravan. It was our first trip out this year and although the weather wasnt very good, it was good to get away. We went to one of our favourite places Kessingland in Suffolk and were lucky enough to get a pitch overlooking the sea. At home we both try to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes every day, so instead, we took ourselves off for a bracing walking along the seafront every evening. To get back off the beach we had to scale these steep steps! Even though I think I am quite fit I was certainly puffing after climbing them lol I am getting back into my designing again this week and have uploaded a cute series of Birthday Owls. I thought i would share with you the progress i have made on this, my largest cross stitch project to date. It looks like a painting because the stitches are so small. The material is 25 count, that means 25 stitches per inch. Some stitchers use material up to 40 count, but my eyesight isnt that good! This beautiful piece is called The Magic Grotto and is by a very talented artist called Aimee Stewart. I have completed 14 pages of this chart, out of 24. I conplete about one full page per month, so it takes years to finish. I really enjoy stitching, and this piece is a labour of love x

Since 23rd May (apart from 25th which was ANZAC Day) I have been back in the workforce Monday to Friday with ECQ (Electoral Commission Queensland) for the Mayoral by- election on 5th May. My job was as a Declared Institution and Electoral Visit polling official. I have been going to Declared Institutions which cover aged care, retirement villages and hospitals in the area for people who are enrolled to vote (voting is compulsory here) but cannot get to pre poll booths because they are aged, disabled or cannot leave hospital and will be in patients on polling day. Electoral Visits are for those in their own homes that would like a polling official to visit so they can cast their votes. It has been a wonderful 2 weeks and it is great that we can help these people vote with minimum stress and fuss to get to a polling booth. A lot of people also do postal votes and this time they are trialling telephone voting for the first time. I still have 2 days to go, Saturday 5th May is polling day and I will be working as an issuing officer and then on Sunday 6th May, I will be working at the Returning office counting votes. Monday is a public holiday so I will enjoy putting my feet up. This old girl isnt used to getting up, dressing up, doing make up and going to work every day. Now Im in the swing of it it is nearly over!

Im promoting this week two more of my new designs that can be made as a card topper or made into a rocker card. Very versatile and pretty cards.

The Lark Ascending by Carol Clarke

We have been taking advantage of our youngest grandchildren being at school now to get out and about. This week we had a nice 6 mile walk from teversal to Hardwick Hall (and back! lol) We set off along the footpaths and trails and were seranaded by the beautiful sounds of birdsong. My favourite was when we crossed the field in the photo below and we saw and heard lots of skylarks sining and displaying as they flew straight up into the sky. We survived a few short sharp April showers along the way too .... but luckily we didnt get too wet as we then had the school run to do too! lol

My chihuhua is finally starting to enjoy our weather (now the sun has started to appear!) Because shes a mexican breed her vet has told me that she will always be cold here lol So shes constantly trying to find the sunshine or some kind of warmth, So she loved it when we had our heatwave (lasted 3 days but oh well!) Here she is enjoying the sunshine :) x

What a Handsome Chap! by Janice McFarlane

My grandson was playing away in Cardiff at the weekend in the under 9s Ice Hockey match. Its a couple of hours drive from where he lives, so the family decided to make a weekend of it. During the weekend they visited Barry Island Pleasure Beach while they were there. The weather wasnt sunny, but at least it stayed dry. Alfie had his photo taken sitting in the hand of a rather large Gorilla, posing and showing off his muscles, although I did do a double take and laughed when I saw where Alfies fist was even though he wasnt touching the gorilla at all it does look comical. Alfie had a good weekend and even scored a goal.

Well this was the site in Nevada at RED FLAG this march when I visited! There was loads upon loads of us lined up along the outside of Nellis AFB... I just wonder how they feel with us all being there.. It must be really strange to think they are on training and us are there for our hobby taking shots of them taking off and landing.. I wish I could have made it to Rainbow Canyon or Star Wars Cayon as the locals call it.. where they fly low level through the moutains..I WILL get there next year you can bet on it.. But I am told its quite a steep climb Oh well best get in training then hadnt I LOLIts Mothers Day 11th May in the USA so I am featuring my MOM card designs for you this week.. Have a lovely weekend its going to be cracking weather.. I am off to a car show..

Spring in Iowa by Judith Henry

Spring finally made it here in Iowa. I think this is the first year we have daffodils and bluebells before the crocus. Needing some color Ive been making cards of flowers. With the good weather will come some traveling. My daughter and I are planning a week end retreat just the two of us. Good food, good shopping and delicious fudge.
