The Sky At Night by Mandy Kirby

I live in one of the most beautiful parts of England which is known as The Lake District. Home of Peter Rabbit and his creator the famous childrens author- Beatrix Potter. It is a seasonal tourist destination visited by millions from all over the world. I work in a kitchen supply shop in the village of Bowness and one summers day last year my employer and I counted how many different nationalities came through the door. We counted 11.I recently learned whilst shopping in our branch of Tescos that they are the 2nd busiest branch in the UK, 1st being London. I found that incredible but not surprised as the amount of tourists that pass through my village is vast. As I was leaving work last week I was greeted with an amazing coloured sky. Ive seen the sky in many colours but never in pink and purple. It was one of the most beautiful skies Id ever seen and I thought I would share it with the CUP community.Tescos is just to the left in the picture which I managed to chop off Lol.Id like to thank everyone of you that have bought my designs and I apologize for the slow uploads of new designs, but Ive been nursing an injury in my right arm. It had to be my designer arm wouldnt it (typical). I really need to rest it but the crafter in me tells me No....so here are a couple of my latest and if I dont post again in News have a very Happy St Patricks Day:) xx

Snow by Gillian Hutchinson

Like the rest of the country this week, we have had the snow. Weve been snowed in a bit as our roads are not clear and its not worth the risk of going out. The dogs have had a ball with it all. They have been out in the garden most of the day and as soon as they come in they want straight back out again.

Dingy Swallowtail Butterfly by Helen Howell

For the first time ever we have had 3 Dingy Swallowtail Butterfly caterpillars in our miniature mandarin tree. This is really exciting, so exciting that I have left them their to nibble my citrus leaves in the hope of them turning into what is a lovely butterfly. The Dingy Swallowtail is native I believe to Australia and this was the first year I have ever seen one flying around my backyard. They are quite large and of course have that Swallowtail shape. They are predominantly blank with interesting white markings over the body of the wings but at the tail end of the wings are these beautiful red and blue spots. The caterpillar is charming and large, brown with cream markings and egg shell blue spots. Im looking forward to seeing the transformation take place.

Two of my latest card designs.

Pirates Love Underpants

by Janice McFarlane

It was world book day on 1st March at my grandsons primary school, it was a miracle the school was even open because of the severe weather conditions, but fortunately at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire where my grandson lives, they have had very little snow, so the school was still functioning. Hurrah I can hear my daughter saying; that aside Alfie had recently read a book called Pirates Love Underpants, and he loved it. Thankfully Alfie is a very good reader and loves his books, which his mum did when she was younger. He decided that is what he wanted to dress up as for world book day at school. His mum did check with his teacher it was ok for him to wear underpants over the top of his trousers and that it wouldnt offend anyone. If it was me I would have been mortified at the very thought, but well done to my grandson for doing it. Thankfully his underpants were new and more of a boxer short. Books these days have me scratching my head, we have Diary of a Whimpy Kid, Gangsta Granny, and now Pirates Love Underpants. Whatever happened to good old Enid Blyton????

These are two of my latest kits, something for the men and the ladies. Thank you for all your continued support, it is appreciated.

Family Lunch by Sue Way

The other week we drove down to visit my mum and take her out to lunch. We surprised her by taking the girls with us and they loved seeing their great nana. When we got to the restaurant my brother and sister-in-law also joined us. We had a lovely lunch and a catch-up then had a little walk around the shops. My brother has lived in this town all his life so knows everyone, even the ladies in the charity shops. So when he and his wife started dancing to a swing song, everyone laughed. This week I have added some lovely 1950s ladies, thank you for looking. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Half Term by Carol Clarke

This week was the Half Term Holiday in the local schools ... sooo a very very excited 5 year old Olivia was able to join us on our weekly Cuddle and Giggle Day Outing. It was rather cold but that didnt stop us from having our picnic ouside as per normal! After a quick warm up in the Discovery Centre we headed for the Woodland Park for lots of fun. Olivia particularly loved climbing on the big net! BELOW are 2 of my NEW Floral Diorama Shadow Box Mini Cards. These make great Mothers Day cards. Watch out for more Coming Soon!

Tropical Vacation by Marlo Socolov

Hi ... So, I live in Duluth, Minnesota. Since it is winter, we have been having temperatures well below freezing (and below zero). Some days it is minus 20. Yes it can get really cold. So, when a friend of mine said Come down to Florida and visit for a while - I jumped on the chance. I loaded up the CRV and headed down to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (near Miami). I have been here about a month and I am heading back tomorrow. Since I have been here - I am not just enjoying the weather, but also the food. I tried fish tacos for the first time! YUM! The other day we headed to the beach area called Lauderdale by the Sea. It is a quaint area. With older restaurants and motels. And - as named it is next to the ocean. Everyday the weather has been beautiful (a little warm and steamy at times - but still nice). ... Marlo

Fidget and Mak by John Methven

We woke up this morning to see a great covering of snow everywhere. This is Fidgets first time of seeing deep snow instead of a small sprinkle. She had a ball in the garden, especially catching snowballs, thats when Mak didnt beat her to them. I think he bit off more than he can chew with the one he caught in the picture! Heres hoping that we get more tomorrow as Im sure they will want to do it all over again.

The Pretty Goldcrest by Janyce Cotterill

If there is any advantage in this recent spell of VERY snowy weather here in the UK, for me it is to be able to spend a bit more time watching the birds feeding in the garden. This little one often drops in and this time I had my camera at hand to get a few snapshots through the window. I hope you can see from the photos why this bird is given his name, his tiny little stripe of gold on his head. This little fella weighs in at only 4.5 grams, smaller than even a wren but very cute! I was thrilled to get a few pics as they tend to dart about a bit and are quick to feed then move off. He made my snowy day! Im leaving you with two of my latest mini-kits, both on special offer. I hope you like them and thank you for your interest.

Crazy Weather by Vicki Avcin

Well isnt the weather crazy around the world? A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how our weather here had been steaming hot, then we got a lot of unseasonable rain, it then threw us a few days of very humid hot weather, then early this week a few days of cloudy skies and more rain. North Queensland have had a very dry monsoon season but that all changed with over 300mm rain in a 24hr period. It was very welcome up there though as their dam that supplies the towns water was down to 14%. In 48 hrs that has now changed to well over 80% and water continues to flow which will push its capacity up even higher. The system that brought that rain is now moving west into inland Queensland and the forecasts are that they will get 400 to 500 mm of rain which will move down into inland central and western Queensland and that flooding will be worse than the 1974 floods! The country its going to affect is called the Channel Country and farmers out in those areas have been drought declared for many many years now. So for many farmers it will be very welcome rain which will green up all the cattle country but its a double edged sword as the floods could mean heavy stock losses also. This Channel Country is made up of hundreds if not thousands of dry creek beds and rivers which will now spring to life and make one huge inland sea as they all join up as the water runs down. So while all this is happening in our part of the world, many reading this will be dealing with record snow falls as the Arctic/Siberian blasts moves over you. I hope its not causing people too many dramas because to me it seems a good time to stay indoors ………. And craft of course. What else could you do in that weather? I hope everyone round the world dealing with Mother Natures offerings stay safe. The photo is of my newest grandchild who was born in December. Isnt he just the cutest little man. I think so but Im a little biased, such an awesome smile.
