Frost flowers by Taina Kankare

Its now real winter here in southern Finland. The temperatures at night are about -20 Celsius, and at daytime about -10 Celsius. Theres about 10-20 cm of snow and sun is shining. The end of last year and the beginning of this year were unusually warm and we did not have much snow, though it snowed occasionally quite a lot. But because the temperatures were near zero and sometimes it rained, most of the snow melted fast away. But now it is finally time for the frost flowers, skiing, skating and sledding!I found frost flowers from our nearby bus stop. The bus shelter walls are made of tough glass, and in a weather like this they are completely beautifully decorated with frost. Because both the inner and outer surface of the thick glass were decorated, it is difficult to get a sharp photograph. But I tried my best and enclose a photo of our winter wonders for you to see.

My CUP Anniversary by Vicki Avcin

On 22nd February 8 years ago I was accepted as a designer at Craftsuprint. CUP has changed since I started all those years ago and the help and support I hadwas fantastic by Rob and the team. We watched and waited as each version came out until it is as we know it today. I did several CUP TVs on how to make some of my designs and that was loads of fun. I would like to say thanks to all the customers who have purchased my card designs over the years and to the cardmakers (now known as crafters) the designs you have made with my designs are nothing short of brilliant. I love seeing them and how you interpret the designs, some are how I envisaged them and others have used them inslightly different ways but it is the creativity of background card stock and embellishmentsthat make them so special. To those who have purchased my Designer Resources the designs you have made from them is absolutely fantastic. So a big thank you all round to everyone. The photo is a still shot from one of the CUPTV videos I did where I had my granddaughterhelping me. Love our matching shirts we had. Mine was from CUP and I made my granddaughters to match.

The First Time by Janice McFarlane

My 5 year old granddaughter Evie has only been dancing less than a year, and has loved every minute of it. She performed in her first show last year, and we were very proud of her. When she started back at dancing in the new year, she knew it was going to be very hard work, as she now had her first exams coming up. Whilst she was excited about this, she was also very nervous. This half term was going to be busy for her as not only did she have her dance exams, but she would be dancing in her first competitions. Evie is normally a very shy little girl and no one was more surprised than me when she started dancing. The week leading up to the exams was a little difficult, the closer it got the more nervous she was, and she said she didnt want to dance anymore as she was too shy to do it on her own in front of an examiner. Nevertheless, she plucked up the courage and confidence and did it. We are so proud of her, the picture shows her after her Modern and Ballet Exams and she looks so happy. We will have to wait a few weeks for the results, but as long as she tried her best thats all that matters.

Chinese New Year by Carol Dunne

My nearest big city is Manchester where Chinese New Year was being celebrated last weekend. It was great fun to see the big Chinese dragon wind its way from the Town Hall to the big Chinese Pagoda in the centre of the city. The parade went on all afternoon with various side shows and street markets culminating with a firework display which was really great. In my photo you can see another big gold dragon which was on display. We treated ourselves to a Chinese lunch. A great day which was most enjoyable.

KIWANIS IN ACTION by Wanda Lipski

It starts in just a few hours so Ive been busy cooking for the event. The Kiwanis CLubs of Saint Etienne (I founded the womens club) are in action this weekend as 80 wine growers come together for the 25th Edition of their annual wine fair. The ladies club deals with feeding the 5,000 who attend the event, that raises around £30,000 each year for the cause of children in need around the world. Ive been creating pop-ups this week. I have also uploaded a Whootie Owl version this week and watch out for my Frozen version, that will go up as soon as I have made up my second version ... my prototype was not quite perfect so I had to do some tweaking and havent had time to get out my scissors yet .... Too busy in the kitchen. Thanks for looking and ENJOY !

My eldest sons work sees him travelling all over the world and this week he was in Australia. this was the first time hed visited the warm and sunny land down under and he loved it! The flights there and back took over 24 hours with a short breaks in Abu Dhabi of around two hours. Luckily he was there for a week and a half so he could at least recover before setting off for home! Sydney was his first port of call where he stayed for 4 days. But he managed a little sightseeing after work before flying off to Melbourne for the rest of his stay. Apart from being jetlagged and tired the worst thing was the temperature difference .... Our First Close-Up Starling Murmeration...

This week, my hubby and I experienced our first close-up starling murmeration. Thousands and thousands of them were banking and sweeping through the sky next to Brighton pier at sunset. That many birds moving together are truly awesome, and we were not the only ones standing there with dropped jaws going, Wow!.The sight was amazing (and this photo *in no way* does their beautiful group movement any justice at all)...but so was the sound. Id expected a lot of flap-flap sounds. In fact, most prominent above the sound of the waves was a gently whirring hum of huge down draft-a bit like the sound a large kite makes, but louder.Whichever way we looked at it, this was a peak experience-and takes place half-an-hour before sunset every day til about the end of February apparently, if you`re passing that way and want to experience it for yourself...

My gorgeous girl Isabella went for her first annual health check last week and was declared perfect....well, i always thought she was anyway! I explained to the vet that although she doesnt go out as such, she has great fun running around the house and our enclosed garden, which helps to keep her fit and healthy. In fact, she loves nothing more than playing football with us, she is a great goal keeper! At the end of a busy day her favourite place to relax is her radiator bed. She will snuggle down on there for hours, stretching occasional before turning over and getting comfy again. It isnt a bad life is it..... being a puss

Fruit & Nut! by Sue Way

When my hubby found out he had type 2 diabetes at the end of last year he had to totally change his diet. As we are already vegetarian, this was very difficult at first and we spent the first few months reading labels and working out menus. Now its a lot easier, we have found some interesting new foods and he had lost a lot of weight and feels better than he has in years. As any diabetics out there know, to get and stay healthy you have to follow a low carb diet. Using a fitness app to track his food has really helped. I have adapted existing recipes and added a few new ones. One thing he really missed was a fruitcake, but I found a great low carb recipe for a fruit and nut cake that uses almond flour. This weeks Bloomer! by Tina Fitch

Well what can I say? Just look at this.. My weekly visit to RAF Marham taking shots and this week they were just to fast for me to catch LOL...He shot past me at the fast rate of knots...I never seem to be able to catch the Tornados in full frame.. They have to be far away for me to get them in the view finder hahahaha... Still never mind my fav jets are the F15s and I can get them in full frame just fine. Chinese New Year by Rachael Dunne

So last weekend I had a lovely day in Manchester with my mum. (Now thats a sentence I never thought Id say - mum tries to avoid going into Manchester at all costs!) It was Chinese New Year so we decided to go and see what was going on. Most of the day was spent chasing two dragons all over town! The colours were beautiful and the way they moved through the crowd they looked like liquid. The only thing was, they were moving so fast amongst the crowd that it was almost impossible to get a picture of them! I am quite pleased with some of the photos I got in the end - from what feels like a few hundred I got about eight decent ones! The one Im most pleased with though was the picture I managed to capture of the young girls who were following the dragons in the parade. They looked like they were having so much fun and their costumes were beautiful!
