Waiting forSpring by Judith Henry

It has been below freezing here now for over a week. While taking my granddaughter back to meet her mom we were stalled because of 20+ cars plowing into the ditch during a snow storm. That was enough to make us reevaluate our next vacation which we were planning on taking in February and driving. This is what frequent flyer miles are for so we now have tickets. We will be going to Georgia, USA and then down to Florida. Im sure we will not see the spring colors from last years trip to Holland in April but looking through those pictures sure helps brighten my day. Hope it works for you too.

Monkeying Around by Janice McFarlane

My two grandsons Alfie and Harry, had a great Christmas with lots of toys, and last week Alfie (5) wanted to spend his Christmas money, so off the family went to Toys R Us. After having a good look around, out of all the toys Alfie could have chosen, was this ginormous ape. This is what he really wanted to buy. It was bad enough getting it into the car, but Alfie insists on sleeping with it lol.Not much room left for Alfie in his bed, I should think. That being said both boys are thrilled with their new buddy, and Im sure they will have lots of fun together.

Granny Get Your Gun! by Janice Shehan

A few weeks ago, several women and myself from church decided to get our Concealed Weapons Permit. That means that in Florida we would be able to carry a gun in our purse, car, etc., legally. This past week we attended the mandatory classroom training and all passed. There is a local group that meets to practice shooting and help newbies, like me! And of course for the fellowship, the organizer cooks BBQ Ribs-wow! Here is a photo of my new Smith and Wesson Lady Smith with PINK, of course, grips! Due to my living circumstances, I just feel better knowing shes in the house :)

Early camelias by Carol Dunne

We have a Camellia bush in our garden, its about 8ft high and I have always considered it an early flowering variety because it normally flowers in early February. Very occasionally we have a year when it flowers last week in January but this year (or should I say last year) it started flowering before Christmas just gone. I thought the cold weather would have made the flowers go brown but so far they are still a beautiful pink.

Snow Angels by Judith Henry

Winter storm warnings close school today. First snow day this season. First we had bitter cold which warmed up to 40s last week end. Today we have ice under snow. Remember when you were a kid and you made snow angels? No - not Snowmen. My granddaughter made many in our yard. Any empty spot was fair game to make these angels.

Best Birthday Gift! by Rachael Dunne

It was my birthday this week and I was really lucky, I received some lovely gifts from my family. The gift I was most thrilled with was this necklace which was made especially for me by my six year old niece. Isnt it adorable?! She made it from a fairy shrink jewellery kit that I bought for her for Christmas. My sister tells me they have had loads if fun making all manner of rings, bracelets and hair accessories from it. Now, I know were not supposed to give to receive but I am a little tempted to buy her another jewellery making kit for Christmas again next year in the hope that I might get some more lovely jewellery for my birthday again!

Belle of the Park by Carol Clarke

This week five year old Olivia wanted to got to Climber Park for our Cuddle & Giggle Day outing. The day dawned and was wet wet wet with very heavy rain ..... Aghhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Clumber Park in the rain just didnt appeal to us so we had an indoor picnic at her house! Would you believe it that as we were eating our picnic the rain stopped and it brightened up outside! By the time wed finished our picnic it didnt look too bad outside so off we set to the park. Olivia had chosen to wear her beautiful yellow dress with warm leggings and wellie boots but still managed to have a lovely time in the Woodland Play area! lol We had a fabulous time splashing ion the puddles and feeding the ducks etc .... and the sun even came out too!

Snowy Squirrel by Janyce Cotterill

When we had a lot of snow recently, it certainly didnt put the wildlife off visiting the garden. This little squirrel didnt mind gobbling up all the sunflower seeds that were on offer, despite the snow falling down rapidly. It was taken from the upstairs bedroom window so quality isnt that good, but he was just too cute not to get my camera out for a get a few pics. Im hoping that is the last of the snow for the winter and my thoughts are already on birds nesting and spring flowers bursting forth! With this in mind Im leaving you with a couple of my designs which remind me that this is what we will be seeing in the UK in the next few months or so - I trust ! Thank you for your interest.

EPIPHANY TRADITION IN FRANCE

We all know how the French pride themselves on being the cradle of gastronomy, and they just love the opportunity to get their teeth into something tasty. The tradition for the 6th January is to share the Galette des Rois - the kings cake. Traditionally made of puff pastry filled with almond frangipane our local patissier makes the best I have ever eaten. The cake is divided up into the same number of parts as there are guests around the table, the youngest guest goes under the table and says for which person each slice is to be given. Inside the cake are two porcelain subjects (highly collectable) - a large one that designated the king and a smaller one to designate his queen who are then duly crowned and celebrated with alcohol. Its a great tradition ! Yum. No cakes in my offerings for you this week, but ENJOY and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you ALL !

Best Ball Ever!!! by Sue Way

My Golden Retriever Alfie is ball obsessed and for Christmas Kelly bought him a big, inflated fuzzy ball. He absolutely loved it! Is really was the best ball ever! He could kick it, play football with me with it, chew on the fur and fall asleep in it lol He even worked out how to pick it up without bursting it, buy ruching up the fabric. But a few days later Baxter (Kellys Golden Retriever) and Alfie were playing and, in the excitement, Baxter accidentally stuck his tooth through the ball!!! Oh no!!! Alfie now has a flat, deflated best ball ever :( Kelly has promised to buy him another one, but we will have to hide it whenever Baxter comes to visit lol I am slowly getting back to normal after the holidays, so take a look at my page to see my latest designs! http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

First Outing of the year! by Tina Fitch

Just a few in the photo but there was in fact 19 RSs making the first breakfast meet of the year at Southend on sea !We drove leisurely down to the front and into Toby Carvery car park for Breakfast.. Had breakfast and a chat outside once we had done then onto the sea front for fresh cooked donuts.But what a disappointment that was no where was open! We normally drive up the end of the front due to having somewhere to park for all of us.. And as greedy as we all are taking up 2 spaces each ... Yes I know its not right but some people have no respect nowadays when opening their doors onto others cars.. Its very naughty really when they do that and mark someone elses property then walk away..Anyway we had a lovely meet the weather was really crisp and fresh and you needed to wrap up well as not to catch this awful flu doing the rounds..Anyway thats it from me this week Hope you all enjoyed your New Year.. and I look forward to serving you ..

Summer Sunset by Vicki Avcin

This is the first really spectacular red sunset this year. Our normal weather patterns for 2017 have had records smashed but 2018 has seen a pretty normal summer in my part of the world so far. Although down in NSW they broke records for the daily temperatures with places going over 47 deg C. In fact last Monday the hottest 15 places in the world were all in Australia for the day. Weve averaged around 32 deg C so far this January.Our skies have been clear at sunset till Thursday when there was some cloud and this gave us this brilliant sunset. From the deepest of orange to beautiful golds and yellows to fade off into gorgeous pinks and purples as the sun set. Quite often we see these sunsets when there is a lot of smoke around but there were no fires so this sunset was just beautiful to see. These photos taken from my yard.
