Let sleeping dogs lie! by Sarah Edwards

After a busy few days with work, and of course getting in lots of lovely designing time, my two shih tzus Freddie and Socks were very happy when I took a break from the computer and chilled out on the sofa. As you can see, they made sure I stayed on that sofa for a suitable length of time by very kindly using me as their bed for the evening.

Ive recently uploaded nine different dog iris folding patterns to my craftsuprint page; here are my two favourites - a lurcher/greyhound and a chihuahua.

8TH DECEMBER TRADITION OF LIGHTS IN

THE LYON REGION by Wanda Lipski

The city of Lyon has venerated the Virgin Mary since in 1643, the notables of the city promised to dedicate the city to her if she spared them from the plague. The 8th September became her day. When in 1852, the city commissioned a statue of the Virgin to watch over the cit y and to be erected atop the Basilica of Fourvière, it was only natural that it should be inaugurated on the 8th September. But the weather was not with them and the inauguration was pushed back to the 8th December, feast of the Immaculate Conception. People in the city lit small candles and placed them all along their windowsills. The tradition continues, not just in Lyon but in the whole region and the 8th December is the start of Christmas celebrations in this corner of France. The photo (from last year) shows the brilliantly illuminated basilica, because the original celebration has turned into a 4-day festival of lights that draws millions of visitors from around the world. As you are reading this, I am busy lighting all the candles along all my (12) windowsills along the front of the house … Have a very happy start to the Christmas season and I hope you enjoy these two of my latest designs.

Brigade Christmas Party. by Vicki Avcin

Last Wednesday night was my Fire Brigades station Christmas Party. We decided that it would be a Fancy Dress just to be different. In the past few years we have gone to a Chinese Restaurant but decided that wed try something different and do it ourselves. Every member contributed the food (and wow did we end up with heaps of food) and the brigade purchased the meat for a BBQ. We also thought to have a bit of a laugh wed come in fancy dress for those who wanted to. As you can see from the photos I went as a police officer and hubby went as one half of the Blues Brothers. Another brigade member went as the other Blues Brother. We had cowboys, Fred Flintstone, another police officer, Wildlife Rangers, pirates to name a few and of course Mr and Mrs Clause. We did a secret Santa also which was fun. A fantastic night was had by all with some managing to party on till around 2am. The fun and laughter and camaraderie was fantastic and everyone enjoyed the night. Already talk that we will do it this way next year as it was such a success.

Snow didnt stop Play!! by Carol Clarke

This weeks Cuddle & Giggle day turned out to be the coldest day this year with the temperature hardly rising above freezing. So we abandoned the picnic in the park for a trip to a local garden centre that has a lovely Christmas display. 2 year old Austin loved it and we managed to pick up a few Christmas presents too. Later though when I went to fetch 5 year old Olivia from school it started to snow! She loved it but predictably still wanted to go to the park. Needless to say thats what we did! After about 15 mins though it started snowing heavily sooo I insisted we go home for a nice warm drink! lol Below are 2 of my NEWEST Christmas Cards ... Watch out for more coming soon!

Animals In The Christmas Story

Part 2 by Judith Henry

We have made and seen lots of cards with the wise men from the East and their Camels as part of the Christmas story but there is no reference in the Bible to the camels. Instead it is our thought that this is how they must have traveled through the desert. While in Egypt we saw many camels carrying supplies and tourists. They are very curious animals that survive in the hot climate without intake of water for days. And yes they spit. There will always be a place in my Christmas story for camels.

Christmas Parade by Diane Hannah

Pictured is our sweet little Olivia, in a photo op for her dads company. They were getting ready for the local Christmas parade. She got to ride in the truck and throw candy to the children in the crowd. I spoke to her after the parade and she told me she had a blast. Olivia also said she will be in another parade this weekend. This is such a busy child. She is full of adventure!

Christmas Came Early for Alfie! by Sue Way

Alfie got a lovely surprise after his hydrotherapy session this morning. The lovely ladies had bought him a Christmas present and card. He wanted to open it straight away but they said he had to wait until Christmas day, although we did open his card which was cartoon dogs dressed in Christmas jumpers. He gave the package a good old sniff, so I think there must be something delicious in there & they did advise me to put it at the top of the tree lol For anyone who is still making their Christmas cards, this week I have added a few more to my Sweet Little Christmas series. And take a look at my cutlery wraps, for the perfect finishing touch on the Christmas table. I hope you love these as much as I do. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387
