THE ORGAN LESSON by Wanda Lipski

Busy, busy, busy this week, but WE did find the time to spend some time in Church. I say We because when my husband arrived with the dog (he mends things in church for me) my little Misty ran down the aisle (well shes one of Gods creatures too) and jumped up onto the bench beside me, where she sat listening. From this picture my husband snapped, she was also paying very close attention!!! Im featuring a couple of musical cards, perfect for musicians or Elton John Fans, so ENJOY!

Music Midtown by Diane Hannah

Pictured is my son William, and my daughter-in-law Morgan. They made the most of a long weekend by going to a two day music festival called Music Midtown, at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The festival has been a yearly event since 1994. This year the main music attraction was Bruno Mars. The attendance this year was nearly 130,000 people. As you can see by the photo, they had a fabulous time. William loves music, so this was the perfect weekend for fun, excitement, relaxation....and of course music!!

Thank you, happy crafting, and hugs xxx

Steam clock by Carol Dunne

We recently spent a few days on the beautiful island of Jersey. We visited some of the many sights to see around the island, like the tunnels used as a hospital during WW2. We came across this steam clock in St Helier, steam driven and mounted on a full size replica of the first steam powered paddle steamer on the island of Jersey. Unfortunately it is not working at the moment but interesting to look at.

Tonys Birthday by Sue Way

Last Saturday was my son Tonys birthday, so on Sunday hubs & me went to visit him & his girlfriend Alex. When we arrived we all sang Happy Birthday & Tony blew out the candles on his Red Velvet cake. We then had a cup of tea and Alex cut up the cake, but they also had a box of Pastel de nata, which is a Portuguese egg tart pastry. You may have seen them being made by the contestants on The Great British Bake Off last week in the technical challenge. The fact that we had seen it, made them even more special. I straight away looked for the lamination lol They were absolutely delicious, with a little cinnamon sprinkled on the top. After tea, we walked to Spitalfields market & had lunch in a Greek restaurant, before looking around the stalls and shops. We had a lovely day and it was so nice to spend some time with our son on his Birthday. This week I have added a few more to my Sweet Little series. I hope you love these as much as I do. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Behind Closed Doors by Valerie Dawes

If youve ever watched news footage of the royal family making their way to Sandringham church at Christmas, you may like me, have wondered what it is like inside. We visited the estate recently and I was thrilled with just how beautiful it is inside the church of St Mary Magdalene, as you can see in the picture here. As they say I guess, fit for a queen!

Waterspout turned Tornado by Vicki Avcin

Well although we are in our fire season, Mother Nature has decided that she doesnt want to play nice. Our wet season doesnt start in earnest till late January when we should get plenty of rain and we are also then into cyclone season. But last Monday 2nd October, Mother Nature decided to just be a bit different and give us a good old summer storm……… and she decided to throw a tornado into the mix. In fact although people have labelled it a tornado, it was actually a waterspout that made landfall. Tornadoes arent common in Australia but waterspouts are often seen out over the bay and rarely make landfall. It started in the straight between Fraser Island and the mainland (eastern side of Fraser Island) and came onto land at the bottom of Turtle Cove (River Heads), went along the foreshore then turned west and tore through several streets damaging houses. The one good thing is a lot of its journey was through a reserve but it didnt spare fences on properties with a lot of fence panelling being relocated either in peoples yards, or in the cow paddock nearly a kilometre away. The brigade was called out at 6pm on Monday night and worked into the night going house to house accounting for residents and recording damage. Trying to write details on wet paper with wet hands in the pouring rain by torchlight is an interesting adventure! Fortunately no reported injuries, all residents accounted for although several residents had to be relocated with their properties not habitable. The only things unaccounted for was a guinea pig cage with 3 guinea pigs that had blown away when the balustrade of one property was blown off. Only one was found alive the next day. Again the brigade worked all the next day ensuring peoples safety and cleaning up. We have more rain forecast for this weekend with the possibility of severe storms. So with Mother Nature behaving the way she is, we arent too sure what shes going to throw at us next, more rain or another very dry spell with fires.
