Craft Fair and morning stroll by Joan King

I havent been able to put much into the community news as I have been unable to go anywhere now for some time but this last weekend my husband and I went to a Craft Fair for the first time in 2 years. It was a very pleasant day (mid winter here) with sun shining but quite cold. Fortunately it was held inside a hall and we were surprised by the number of people who came through. I made quite a lot of sales on my cards which I have been trying to sell for a while but have had nowhere to sell them. If they have another one we will participate again. I have found that here in New Zealand big fancy cards rarely sell, everyone thinks about postage costs which are high so I made a lot of A6 size cards which was the bulk of my sales. Yesterday we both had to go into town for medical appointments and afterwards as it was another fine day but cold we took a walk down to the port which was nearby and where the cruise ships come in although there are none at the moment as it is winter. Lo and behold we were surprised to see a seal in the water right up by the rocks. It looked so cute laying on its back clapping his flippers!!! By the time we had walked off the jetty we saw the seal climbing up the rock wall to the top to sunbathe and I managed a quick photo but it wasnt easy as this area was cordoned off for the ships. Still first time we have seen one there. Thank you for looking at my designs. Happy crafting.

I am showcasing one of my new DL cards for Christmas. There are six in this series. I am also showcasing another of my recent designs for 8 inch cards. There are several in this series as well.

Ibiza by Carol Dunne

A couple of weeks ago my husband said,How do you fancy a few days away in the sun? Who could refuse an offer like that? So we threw a few T shirts and shorts into a carry on bag and flew off to Ibiza. We stayed near the Old Town which is in the photo. It was fascinating to sit in the cafes on the water front watching the ferries come in and out. We were amazed how many people were coming and going with suitcases, pushchairs, babies and sometimes the dog too. from the airport to the ferries to stay on Formentera (the next island). We had a great time and there are some excellent restaurants in the Old Town.

Here are two of my new calendars for next year. They double up as a greetings card and also a keepsake for next year.

cross stitch by Anne Lever

I thought I would show you my progress on my huge cross stitching project. It is called The Magic Grotto. The artist is called Aimee Stuart, and I am enjoying every stitch. I am working on page 11 out of 24. 6 of those pages are partials, so 7 more full pages after this one to go. I complete about a chart page per month, so this project is the commitment of quite a few years! It is 25 count, that is 25 stitches per inch. I love colour, and the colours in this drew me to it straight away.

Whats the Next Adventure by Diane Hannah

Pictured are my brother Kevin and my sister-in-law Victoria. They recently took a four day trip down the coast of Florida. In that four days they participated in many adventures. In the photo they are ATV riding. Victoria loved it, this was not anything new to my brother, as he drives ATVs quite often. The next adventure was kayaking down a river along the coast. They also went snorkeling, and sky diving in a wind tunnel. On the last day before heading home, they went swimming in a pool (which paled in excitement). haha

Pictured are two of my newest bumper kits, both with watercolor images.

Alfies Shower! by Sue Way

We had another couple of days away in our caravan last week. We went to a place called Kessingland in Suffolk. We used to go there a lot but havent stayed there for around 15 years. It was lovely to be back, our pitch was on a lovely site, overlooking the beach with a private gate straight onto it. Alfie loved it & couldnt believe his eyes when he looked out the caravan window & saw the sea! The site had a doggy wash station, so we thought we would take full advantage of it. Alfie thought it was great fun & stood like such a good boy. All those years of going to the groomers have paid off. Lots of people commented on how good he was. As it was such a lovely day, we sat outside the caravan & he dried off in the sunshine. This week I have added a few more to my Sweet Little series & these are for new babies. http://www.craftsuprint.com/sue-way/?r=968387

Sonic the Hedgehog by Gillian Hutchinson

Last week while walking down the farm path with our dogs, we came across a little hedgehog. We checked he was still alive as he was in the middle of the path during the day. The next day he was in the exact same place so we knew he needed some help. We got a box from home and popped him in that and fed him some mashed up chicken soaked in water and put a hot water bottle under a blanket. He was ever so wobbly on his feet as he ate and after some reading realized he was dehydrated. We got him all settled with a bigger box, little hut and a run and looked after him for a few days until we could find someone local to take him. The gentleman said that because of the hot weather, they are getting a lot of juveniles to look after as the Mums are wandering off now for water. So little Sonic is now quite happy on a little reserve with around another 20 little ones.

Window shopping abroad by Judith Henry

One of the things I like to do on vacation is window shop. Im always looking for unique cards and popups. I have Notre Dame and Paris popup cards, a Cathedrals in Scotland and a Swan easel card. But I also take pictures of those I dont think I can get home in one piece. This was one I saw in Belgium. It reminded me a lot of the themed Box card by My SVG HUT. The past couple of weeks Ive taken the time to do some research and start creating more popup cards. I want to expand from the 90 degree cards to other forms. Hope you have enjoyed watching my personal collection grow.

Battle Of Britain Flight by Tina Fitch

Well today Thursday 20/07/17 We went to RAF Marham Familes day, Oh the day started with quite heavy rain and we were told that not all displays might happen due to very low cloud, I was so disappointed after just getting used to my new camera... I have a new lens too which lets me get even closer so I really wanted to use it..Anyway come 2.30pm we had some dry and sun which made it much better.. Anyway this is just one of the photos taken of the BBMF Lancaster, and what an plane it is, I cant believe that these sort of planes won us the war! With todays aircraft and how much further we have come since that day...But I am thankful to these wonderful people that gave us our freedom and what we all enjoy today! God bless our servicemen everywhere..https://www.craftsuprint.com/tina-fitch/

7 little ducks went out one day

by Vicki Avcin

7 (not 10) little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away…….. well up the hill and into our back yard. Mum was close at hand and such well behaved little ducks they were too. Stuck by Mum and followed where ever she went. It was only a couple of weeks ago that we were discussing how we always seem to have ducks coming up to the ground level water bowl and where we feed all our other birds but in nearly 10 years we have been in the house, weve only ever seen one lot of other baby ducks. We do have foxes in the bush beside us and down the back in the environmental park so we thought that possibly there were ducklings but they never made it. These ducks are a Pacific Black Duck. The name doesnt suit them all that well but when in flight they do look very dark. The only black they have is a stripe from their bill to the eyes and they are predominately brown in colour. These ducks are found in all areas of Australia apart from the very dry arid regions. So they are common and they breed when food and water is plentiful, which there is at our place, even in the drought as we besides having 2 dams (usually with water) we also put a variety of water bowls out and feed is put out every afternoon for the different species of birds that come and feed. It is not uncommon to see both these and the wood ducks wandering round picking after the rest of the birds have left. So it was exciting to see Mumma bring this little clutch of babies up while she had a scrounge round and a drink as the adult ducks tend to be a bit shy. Photo shows Mum and her ducklings out in the back yard early in the morning.
