Debbie does Queensland by Vicki Avcin

Well drought one day floods the next. Queensland has just had the first tropical cyclone for 2017 in the form of TC Debbie. Forecasters had been watching her weather system for nearly a week until she reached the requirements to be a tropical cyclone. Unlike most cyclones, she was a slow moving system and one of the biggest (in size) we have seen. Plenty of time for people to prepare as she slowly edged closer to north Queensland. She crossed the coast just south of Bowen (where we used to live) and absolutely devastated North Queensland from Bowen to Mackay. The beautiful holiday islands in the Whitsundays have been all but wiped out. After her onslaught up north she has moved inland where she went from a Cat 4 down to a tropical rain depression. Cyclones are only over water as they feed off the moisture from the sea. Over land they dont have that moisture and quickly lose the cyclone status. So slowly she went inland a little then turned back to head south east and back down the coastline. So today we are in the path of her wrath with lots of rain, strong winds which is bringing a lot of flooding all along the east coast of Queensland…..she is still a massive system. All schools have been closed for today and tomorrow, businesss have been told to close at midday today (Thursday) and airports closed. We watched the plane from Sydney today have 2 attempts to land at the airport and then landing was aborted and passengers went back down to Sydney. Emergency services are on the ground and slowly getting into the worst hit areas where there is no power, no safe drinking water, no phone coverage, food is getting very low and because of the size of the area of damage it is going to be a huge task to get to people especially in isolated areas. Photo is the weather system Debbie courtesy Japan Meteorology Centre I am somewhere round the red dot. You can see just how big she is. We had torrential rain and strong winds as the eye passed through our way this afternoon. The yellow dot is the eye and the most destructive area is around the eye wall.

Today I am promoting my latest bumper kits. Very versatile and can be used for all sorts of occasions.

Mothers Day by Sue Way

Last weekend it was Mothers Day in the UK & I say weekend as we had to spread it out so we could see everyone. lol On Friday hubs & I went to visit my mum and took her out for a pub lunch. My brother, sister-in-law, niece and great nephew were also able to join us. Mum had a lovely time & really loved the large handbag full of toiletries that I brought her. On Saturday my daughter (CUP designer Kelly Barker) came to our house with our granddaughters and I cooked a lasagne & garlic bread for dinner. I was spoilt by my children with lovely gifts as usual. My son sent me a £30 Amazon voucher which I cant wait to spend on crafting goodies & books & Kelly gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a pretty butterfly vase & a handmade card from her own design. You can find the kit to make your own here. Also great for a mums birthday. My end of month SALE is now on, so there is 20% off of all my designs! Here are my latest.

Triffid Tulips! by Anne Lever

I had a very odd experience this week, one I dont remember having before. I had a beautiful bouquet of flowers bought for me on Sunday (mothers day). It was made up from two small bunches of roses and a small bunch of tulips. Together they made a magnificent beautiful bouquet. Through the week I noticed the tulips getting longer, a little each day. At first I thought it was just me, but by the end of this week they were at least four inches longer than they were! I am sure I have never had tulips do this before! Lol. Today is the last day of my sale, 20% off all my designs, including all of my many bumper kits x

WANDA THE NEWEST TELEVISION STAR by Wanda Lipski

I met this lovely young lady and her cameraman partner outside my house. She was looking in the kitchen window where I always display my latest creations ... a popular attraction with the children, not for the cards, but for my waving Queen. When I explained that this was what I did, she asked if you could come back in the afternoon and interview me. We had tea, spent a delightful moment and then we waited, and waited and waited. We missed it on the television, but someone told us they had seen it and thanks to the Internet, we were able to watch it AND I was able to post it to my Facebook page. I will NEVER open my mouth again. My accent ... Yukkk! I wasnt able to take a still with me in it from the video, but the presenter is far better looking than me. She is in Panissières, about 20 metres from the house. Ive been chronically busy this week, translating recipes, but have managed one or two new designs, that Im delighted to share with me. Have a good week, and ENJOY!

Mothers Day Card by Kelly Barker

A long time ago I used to be a card maker, but in recent years the designing side has taken over and I very rarely get to make a card now, although there is no way Im giving up my craft stash! I still love all my sparkly bits, colourful bits and fun bits and I do really still love making cards, but Im obviously not that good at sharing as I hate it when my kids get their hands on my stuff ha ha! As Mothers Day was coming up, it was the perfect time to finally use some of my craft bits again. I printed out one of my own designs cup598275_1028 and made my mum (cup designer Sue Way) a pretty Mothers Day card. I think she really liked it and it always feels special to receive a handmade card. I didnt use all the layers available in my kit this time as I was pressed for time, but it still made a lovely card. I added some little sparkles to finish it off and the matching insert inside. This design could easily be used for a birthday as well. I currently have all of my Cutie Pie Kid designs on special offer along with 2 Pamper Yourself kits. These all have 25% off!

Spring has sprung by Patricia Platt

Millie is watching the garden and all the new things sprouting up. We now have tulips, hyacinths and daffs to name just a few flowers blooming in our little garden. The plum tree is blooming too this spring. I just hope we dont get a frost as the past few years, because we didnt get any plums. The apple tree is playing smart and waiting to bloom in about a week. Poor Brian has had the job of shifting my raised beds from one end of the garden to the other. The trees were shading them too much. Hopefully this year we will finally get some veg. The fruit bushes are starting to leaf out and some are blooming too. The rhubarb is already for a good crumble now.

Close Encounters of the RS kind!

by Tina Fitch

Well the new RS seems to be settling in nicely except I think she wants the top parking spot so trying to push the other one forward.. When I parked the car I didnt realize I was so close, The front car was in the normal space so I thought and when I pulled up I gauged the space by the mark I go by on the fence, so stuck the brakes on as I got there but seemed to roll back slightly... So on the gas slightly to bring her forward and this is how I left it!When i eventually got out to see I was quite shocked how close I actually was LOL... Its only the new car has a indented front that the other cars backside just fitted inside the lip ... Phew that was a close one....I have my 20% Sale still on till Midnight tonight so Please dont miss out on emptying your wishlists..
